I just recently purchased your bipod, and put it on my Crosman mag fire extreme. The bipod really helped me out with firing this gun because of the recoil it has. After just a few mags of ammo, and my accuracy has improved drastically. Thanks, Hector from PA
Hi Hector. I am glad that is working out for you. That stable shooting platform really helps with the accuracy. Thanks for tuning in and I appreciate the support!
Another very informative interview. The fact that there are almost no reviews on the Hatsan SpeedFire Magnum 1250 and many regular air gun vendors don't even carry it seems to indicate the Gamo and Crosman are really the main players in multi-shot break barrels. If Gamo had a better parts support it would be an easy choice. Keep up the good work.
Fun informing review as always. I've got the Crosman Diamondback .22, the MAG's NP Elite cousin in single shot. I like it overall. Purchased in late 2022, have a few hundred shots through it. I found the initial FPS for CPHP 14.3 was about 680 FPS average. I added 2 drops of Crosman Silicone Chamber Oil, pumped the cocking barrel to work it in and let it sit barrel tip up for a day. FPS was immediately up to 780 average for a few days only. Over the next month it settled in to 745 average, 17.63 FPE. Quite a bit less than the 21 - 28 FPE claimed, typical :). I repeated the process and got the same results. Seems it needs the oil. Also many people state the piston seals on these Crosmans are messed up and dinged/damaged to various degrees during the install process, of course that would lower FPS. Maybe changing the seal would bring this up to 800 FPS for CPHP 14.3, that might be my goal someday. JSB Exact Jumbo .22 15.89gr average 700 after the oiling and settling, Hobby Wadcutter 11.9 825 FPS.
Ola JC, nice review, complete and honest as always. Breakbarrel with a very interesting multi-shot system and good value for money for what it offers and its purpose. Next Video with a great theme and content, it will surely help many shooters to get a better gun. Thanks JC and have a great weekend.
Greetings JC from England , this rifle has a lot to offer , any shooter .. Great shooting on a budget . it`s freezing here only 2c max . Big thanks JC enjoy your weekend ... Cheers Si 😃
Simion! always nice to hear from you! I hope all is well. When are you going to send me an "Intro?" one simple line, "Stay Tuned for Airun Detectives" Just shoot it wide screen, I can edit the front and back. But it is always nice to feature our airgun family from across the pond. Have a great weekend! info@airgundetectives.com
JC, You might consider reviewing the Optimus, and doing a complete trigger mod. Kenny Kormonday did heavy mods to old style Crosman triggers. They work like money. I'd love to see a result on that gun from you. Love yer stuff. Great job.
With all the competition in this market, Crosman is just going to have to do better in my eyes. Airguns have become precision driven and the industry is cut throat from what people are offering nowadays. I always come here first JC! Great vid thanks for reviewing average joe guns still!
I've been window-shopping for a decent break barrel (I'm saving for an FX Impact PCP kit) with the QuietFire tech (suppressors are illegal in Canada, even for airguns, so QuietFire is as close as we can get), and I must say a big thank you for this review. I'm looking for a subsonic .22 break-barrel with a scope that can handle the nitro piston double-slam & if possible, something that can handle slugs or at least 17gr pellets. I've got a 'Crosman F11 NP' I bought before getting my firearms license here in Canada, and you presented an important point - what Crosman reports for FPS/FPE falls so short of the claims, and IMO, they need to be called out for it. In the case of my F11, I was getting 430fps out of a claimed 495fps with 14.3gr Crosman hollow points. Crosman have an excuse in this case, since the Canadian 'toy' versions can't risk breaking the Canadian toy/firearm threshold of 500fps. They still went way too far by limiting it. It's bad enough we have to deal with such weak velocities, that they'd slow it down even more. The Crosman MagFire Ultra NP Elite claims 975 fps. That, combined with the QuietFire tech, had me with that rifle in my cart just now. But I saw your FPS experience with alloy pellets showing a max 750fps & I simply can't buy this thing. Crosman don't have an excuse this time. Even 900fps would be too low. While Crosman might not appreciate your review's causing me to cancel my purchase, that saved them a return and some nasty reviews. If I only got ~700fps from a 975fps claim, even with alloy pellets, I'd be adding enough negative reviews out there to make a difference. Every company promotes in idyllic terminology, but these discrepancies are offensive. So that brings me to my smart shopper questions - Are Crosman the only ones who add 30% more FPS cosmetically to all their air rifles? Can I count on this much discrepancy for all nitro piston break barrels? If I'm using 14.3gr Crosman Premier hollow points in .22, and I'd like to stay between 950-1000fps, or perhaps 900fps with a 17gr pellet, should I focus on nitro piston rifles claiming 1300, like the Gamo Magnum 'Jungle' .22? And if I do get a nitro piston with claimed 1300fps, should I expect subsonic velocities consistently? All I hear about Gamo is how low quality they are - but I'd appreciate honesty more than quality at this point. I endured being short-changed by Crosman for the toy pellet rifles, but hell if I'm gonna put up with it now that I can buy 'real' airguns. I haven't given up on Crosman yet, I grew up with Crosman BB & pellet guns, since I was 8yrs old. I'd like to take advantage of the extremely quiet QuietFire barrel of the Crosman, but I'm not sure how many of these ~$300 rifles I should I expect to go through before I can reliably get 925 - 1000 fps with "regular joe" 14 gr pellets.
Ok...you win for the longest comments to date🤣. All manufacturers claim excessive velocity. Most will clarify with "Alloy Pellet" for their testing process. If you are looking for power and velocity, purchase the Benjamin Trail XL in .22 caliber (a Crosman product) Upgrade the trigger to a GRT-III, and you will have an amazing, powerful rifle. The most powerful Crosman/Benjamin breakbarrel. I did a review on the .177 version. I also purchased a .25 caliber version, which I refinished the stock, tuned it an upgraded to the GRT-III trigger. I also added my bipod kit. It is my favorite 25 rifle. I will review that in the upcoming months. Happy Shooting!
@@AirgunDetectives I know I do go on sometime, I just like to be thorough & try to fill in the gaps. I realize it's a courtesy to reply to new subs & my questions are many - but I get this out of my system & likely won't type much from then on. If a manufacturer claims an excessive speed with an alloy pellet, they should have to prove that that speed is possible, and not just some calculation they derived from prototypes. I spent months modding my F11 - bored out the intake port, replaced the gas ram, the piston, shimmed the ram, did extensive testing & I learned the "language of moderation" when it comes to Crosman preventing Canadian air guns from performing to promised specs or more. I won't mention the "or more" velocities, since that's not kosher on RU-vid - but I am pleased with my results tho I was frustrated with how little advice I could get. Anyway, thanks for reading my novels - again, I appreciate your reporting the honest velocities. What you've taught me is that if I get regular, 14gr lead pellets or slugs in a .22 break-barrel, there's very little chance of it going supersonic. My desire for 900+ fps with slugs or 950fps with pellets seems doable but I'll need better hardware. That .25 at 700fps was actually really tempting too. Thanks again!
I had the MAgfire Mission, I actually returned the rifle after 3 days because, as you found out, it's extremely pellet picky and besides that, accuraacy was a huge concern. I hope Crosman gets these problems ironed out.
Hi JC, another great review and if I may go off topic. When is the video of the Schofield rifled barrel conversion kit due? I don't want to be pushy (well maybe a bit), but Christmas is coming and I want to know if it's something to put on the list. I value your opinion a lot when it comes to all things air gun, The testing is thorough, unbiased and fair, you're not shy about pointing out negatives and you don't favor any particular brand over another, calling a spade a spade. It's thanks to you I got into the world of repeating pistols after watching your review of the Walther PPQ 2. (great review, great gun and uses pellets) something I had never even considered before as most repeaters use BB's and I'm strictly a pellet guy as my range space is limited and I don't feel comfortable having steel balls bouncing around my shooting space (can't always gt an accurate hit with a smoothbore firing BBs), and speaking of "Old West revolvers. You've done the Schofield (with some help from The Fat Bat ) and the full range of the Colt SAA, would you consider doing a review of the Benjamin Remington 1875 ? I'd really like to see how it stacks up against the Colt SAA, which is a fair bit more expensive but does have a rifled barrel. If you've read this far, thank you and keep those videos coming. 👍👍👍👍👍 (one thumb is just not enough).
You and my buddy are the only hardcore Airgunners I know in San Diego. I’m gonna offload my .17 cal synthetic Marauder Gen 2. The Hawke Vantage 4-12 on it is included. 300 bucks. Let me know if you are interested.
@@AirgunDetectives cool yeah I think I will throw it on Calguns. I got it from Crosman with a discount code one a day they were already having a sale and free shipping so I got a smoking deal on it. Just wanna get it to someone who will enjoy it.
Nice, wish my mag-fire ultra in .177 would shoot 1/2 that good... It seems like the .177 is overpowered. May be the QC got better since I got mine 3 years ago. Thanks again for the info, Big C out. 😎
Nice informative review just curious are Pinty scopes still good do you recommend them if not what budget friendly scopes do you recommend for a break barrel rifle goal being about 40-45 yards?? Thanks in advance!
I just bought one of these today, have not shot it yet. I also have the Steel Eagle with the same stock. How would you stack it up next to it? I usually buy the Gamo brand and have most of them.
wow that really surprised me, with the same crosman premiere pellets my old 22 cal beeman rs2 that i got for $30 averaged right at 745 fps, well at least the crosman is prettier but that kinda reminds me of that old say, something about putting lipstick on a pig, oh sorry, multi shot pig.....
