Nice review , I’ve been a fan of Cometa air rifles for long time. My 1st Nice break barrel was RWS 94 ( made by Cometa). In the beginning it was a love and hate relationship with the gun, would miss sometimes, but after it broke in and I mastered the hold, it was super accurate. As far as it having only a 9” barrel, I don’t believe that’s a deal breaker, my AA Pro Sport has about same length barrel, it doesn’t hurt its accuracy. Most of my springer shooting is 20-30yards so I’d be happy with its accuracy. I’m sure the chipmunks would hate it lol.
I was thinking about your comments on your 40-yard target shooting with that which makes me wonder do you edit your videos to only show the best shots or is it you show what you shot the first time and it is what it is.
@@AirgunDetectives The whole thing is: I made the point that Airguns can be used for home defense in gun controlled areas. The US military says 58 FPE is lethal. The 2a shall not be infringed. Everyone has the right to protect his home and family.
@@AirgunDetectives I forgot to mention in that comment I told you I was ordering the .357 AEA Challenger pro long barrel and asked which bipods you used on your .30
My Cometa was at the shop longer than It was with me, triiger failed, safety failed, on return from repair it shot without a trigger pull. Jammed when cocking. Returned for refund
That was the 3rd Cometa I have ever shot...I did a review on a .22 cal and a .25 cal and they had the edge on this one! Longer barrels too! I also tuned those rifles. So I had no issues with the few I have tested.
Tengo la misma carabina pero en calibre 5,5 y tiene una precision a 50 metros impresionante ...me extraña que el 4,5 no lo haga igual supongo que hacía mucho viento y eso haya afectado a la precisión
Regarding 40 yard accuracy, the 20 yard group is .35" which, given the same angle of deviance, would mean about 7/10" error at 40, which is about what you were seeing on the smaller targets.
Good review, convinced me I should buy the rifle, I was hesitant at first with other reviews, but your was more complete and you used compatible pellets. Do you have a video showing how to install the trigger screw you sell ??
I am still leaning towards the short 9" barrel. I did a review on a .22 and .25 Cometa, with longer barrels and had no issues at 40 yards. I think a 15" barrel would solve their distance issues. Thanks for tuning in and I appreciate your comments!
They aren't stop holes I think, they go right through as you'll find out with a long enough screw, I don't know why but I have a Fusion that is the same, if you look down them with a light you'll see what I mean, really strange but I love Cometas. You can actually jam things, but if you use a normal larger screw with a taper point it works.
Hi David, actually, they are designed for stop pins that have a massive tapper and don't protrude too far. There is absolutely no reason to have the holes in that area of the chamber unless for a stop pin. But you are correct, anything the protrudes too far into the hole could interfere with the piston movement during the cocking process. Thank you for tuning in and I really appreciate you taking the time to leave comments. Happy Shooting!
I was shooting the heavy pellets...I have shot many other .177 in the same conditions with issues with accuracy. A 9" barrel is pretty short for a rifle. I hope you had a great 4th Mike!
Nice gun but the 9 " barrel length lets it down for any distance shooting. I have a "Chaser" co2 pistol carbine kit. The pistol barrel is 8 1/4" and is a tack driver out to about 15-20 meters, any further and the accuracy falls off. The carbine rifle barrel is 17" and well capable of decent accuracy out to 50 meters. I had a look at the Cometa website and the specs give overall rifle length but not the length of the barrels, are they all the same @ 9"? For the price it's a beaut of a rifle and a springer too, always a plus in my book, no extras required to make it go and easier to repair, replace or upgrade parts. Maybe because of PCPs we expect more from springers these days? Springers used to be tested out to 25yds and we were well happy with the results,( Cometas was excellent) now we're looking at 40+ yards, is that unrealistic to look for in a break barrel? I know there are break barrels that can shoot well out to 40+ yards but they usually cost an arm and a leg. Any ways, good review as always JC...😁👍
You are so correct...99% of all my shooting with breakbarrels is between 20 and 40 yards...Actually, now that I think about it, the majority of my shooting is at 20 yards, because I really like shooting from my bar. Then I am really close for a cold beverage! 🤣🤣
Great vid JC. I was considering buying one of these rifles over an hw 95. However after seeing how accuracy drops off after 30 yds I'm leaning towards the latter. What are your thoughts?
Ola JC, good video as always. Cometa has a long history and produces good quality springers. Regarding the shorter barrels on springers... I, for one, love short rifles. So I almost always opt for short-barrelled models. My TX200 HC US 1.77, HW 97KT 1.77, HW 98 1.77 2020 all have short barrels of just 31cm. And as JC knows, those targets all go down very easily. For example, I don't notice any difference between my HW97 and the HW77, which has a longer barrel. Comets are good and I like them, but they have their limitations. Have a good weekend my friend. Cheers
Hey there, Glad to are human and miss once in a while. All your videos that I have watched ( a lot) I can count this misses on one hand, pretty darn good. Take care and have a good holiday weekend everyone.
Well...Yes, I am very human...remember there is a lot of practice that goes into shooting all those rifles before I put them on film. I hope I didn't disappoint you guys too much🤣 Kurt have a fantastic weekend and I need to catch up with you soon!
I find it very funny your last shot hit the metal target perfectly, but you thought it missed, haha! I wonder, do you think it struggling at that distance has anything to do with the 17cal pellets? Besides the 9 inch barrel, that is.
Maybe...but using the heavier pellets it usually corrects the wind issues for the most part. I believe the shorter barrel is the main issue at the longer distance. Thanks for tuning in and I appreciate your comments!😉
Great job John. I agree with you. I think the limited +30 yard accuracy is from the short 9 inch barrel also. With a 3 inches or more longer barrel you would get the 40 and maybe 50 yard accuracy.
Have a Cometa 220. Was going to get a 100, but when John at Keystone Airguns was checking it out, turned out all the 100s he had on hand were inaccurate. So he let me upgrade to a more expensive rifle for free! Definitely a future buyer of more Cometas!
I like the stock on this one ! Sorry i have not been around much lately but im trying to get a Wheelchair ramp built for my wife so that she can come home from the hospital shes been in thr hospital going on 11 weeks now !
Just curious, ergonomically, what is the difference in the feel and look of a classic shotgun vs a classic bolt action rifle, as far as the stock, handguard, trigger guard, etc? Taking the pump out of the equation, they are very similar to me.
I tried the way you provided, and it's really cool that I can contact you about putting it back together. I did what you said and replaced sping to a more durable clothespin spring, and wouldn't you know it .. I shot a hole through my house with brick siding and into my neighbors house witch is lucky considering it was the starter house. Then after throwing things around because it was not working. They finally got the 12 gauge out of my hands and went back to working on this mess. I am still waiting on the return of my Mossberg.
I am thinking of purchasing either a p226 or a p229, but cannot find any place the big difference. Can you shed some light on this and which you feel is better? - thank you.
This video didn't reveal any mystery at all. It didn't show how to load the damnable thing or pump it up. Maybe for a seasoned air rifle pro, it's no big deal, but for those of us who are used to normal guns, the Benjamin represents a pain in the ass to operate. Bought my Ben semi-auto gun 3 yrs ago and never have figured out how to operate it - just don't have the time or patience to spend hours on RU-vid researching it. Benjamin manual is not worth much either and I haven't found any vids that really address the topic. Benjamin did a shitty job on that line. The rotating pellet mechanism is a bear to understand - very intricate and not straight forward as to how to load and operate. I attempted to shoot it with a friend who is a rifle expert in the USAF, and he never could figure it out either.
