Are you going to connect directly to tools or put a cyclone separator in between? But you could mod the new one into a cyclone with a 90° angle and thein baffle 😏🤔

Almost identical to the Charnwood Record and Scheppach varieties by the looks of it. They all seem to work fine.

Hi Matt, without an M-class PTFE filter, I don’t believe these extractors should be called or described as dust extractors. It lacks the level of filtration to block out hazardous dusts such as wood dust and especially MDF dust. It may have 3 levels of filtration, but I don’t think any of those (including the circular filter) is M-class rated. Essentially, any fine dusts such as MDF will be blowing straight back out through the exhaust vent! And this you don’t want. That’s why you always need a machine capable of using an M-class filter, or at the very least, an exhaust vent to which you can connect a hose to run outside. The industry is still very bad in raising awareness of this and what you need. These are good for large chips, but I certainly wouldn’t use them for sanding, unless an M-class filter is attached. Ps, this is why Axminster do a bolt-on M-class unit for their extractor. It is essential!
@christianpetersen1782
@christianpetersen1782 3 года назад
I totally agree Manny. I already have the Record version of Matt’s old machine and want to upgrade to an ‘M’ Class as it’s the really fine dust that our lungs can’t clear and which causes health problems. Add to that, that oak dust is carcinogenic so the last place anyone wants carcinogenic dust is in the lungs! The problem is similar to smoking, in that one can inhale fine dust without any immediate problems but at some time in the future one will see a doctor for a nagging cough or something and be diagnosed the devastating news of having the big C. As lung health is such an important issue even as only a hobbyist I’m prepared to spend what ever it takes for a professional machine to keep me healthy. I reckon it’ll be cheaper in the long run and certainly more comfortable.
@MannyOnePointFour
@MannyOnePointFour 3 года назад
@@christianpetersen1782 Spot on Christian. It really is a shame that the industry doesn’t raise more awareness of this. On a professional worksite, a health inspector would require you to use an M-class extractor, otherwise you wouldn’t be allowed to work. But the important thing is to educate people why they need that level of filtration when dealing with dust. Unfortunately there simply isn’t enough awareness passed on to general public. It’s one of the worst things you want building up in your lungs over time, simply because once it’s there, it will never go in the same way that our bodies can naturally handle larger dust particles. I would recommend everyone should get a dust extractor with an m-class filter at least for the smaller hand tools that generate a lot of dust (sander, router etc) and use one of these larger extractors for the machines generating larger chips. For what it’s worth, some L-class extractors are perfectly fine too (just make sure it comes with an M-class filter). A true M-class machine would have an audible alarm, but that isn’t essential (only on a worksite).

Hi Matt. I'm just about to replace my old dust extraction. Can you tell me how you feel with it after few months of using ? I checked specs and compared to axminster NUMATIC NV750. I'm willing to buy yours but there is not many reviews online. I plan to buy few diffrent connectors to use with my table saw, router table but would be nice to use it with smaller tools. How is performing ? Good suction? Thanks in advance and great videos!

Excellent timing Matt, I was debating between several extractors when your review came along. For the price, this one seems to do just as well as more expensive extractors, and the added connectors are great. What's more, using your BADGER10 code I've got 10% off, making the final price even better. Cheers buddy.

Had to contact the company via Instagram as the contact links on there website don't work. All parts are made in the UK, but it only comes with 1 year's warranty. Compare that to the 5 years you get with most Record Power and it is a slight leap of faith. I would love to comit to homemade products, but I think a longer warranty would give me slightly more confidence.

I quite agree with you that the incompatibility of power tool dust extraction connection ports is very frustrating. I have to some extent overcome this problem by making up a specific connector for each of my tools using domestic waste water pipe and a heat gun.This grey (usually) pipe is readily available and easily manipulated into shape with a little heat. A 100mm length is enough for each tool.Just push the hose onto the machine of choice and off you go.

What a great machine. Are you now becoming the UK's resident expert in vacuums and extractors? You've reviewed a few right. I liked the addition of the wind-meter, although you're measuring airflow in l/s rather an power (which I calculated at 79l/s for the new vac and 68 l/s for the old (above manufacturer's stated values but a useful comparison))

Hi Matt. Thanks for doing this review. I’m just setting up my woodwork shed. I’ve bought a craft 216 table saw after watching your past reviews, which I really enjoyed, and I was just about to buy a dust extractor for it. Axminster say you need min 850 m3/h but this one only gives 54l/s, which is a bit under 200 m3/h. How well do you find it works with your table saw and what stopped you getting one of the craft AC82E extractors with a cartridge?

Exactly what im looking for and was committed to buying it before the video had even finished under the assumption it would be in the sub £200 mark being a 1.2 kW machine. However at £314 with their generous Badger discount - its still in the Cam vac territory but with only half the power. Have you got an opinion on this vs the cam vac? I'm very tempted with the hose and adapter set however. I guess my patriotism has a cash limit, maybe I need to consider that more carefully???? Great Video as ever. thanks

Getting a larger Axminster bandsaw soon and I've been looking for a decent extractor that will fit in my small workshop, not blow my ears off and also filter the extra dust produced by a bigger machine. Good to see a company making different size hoses. It is frustrating that many power tools have slightly different nozzle diameters. I ended up designing and 3D printing adapters for some of my tools. Airflow at the open outlet does not provide an indication of the performance curve of the blower under load. It is quieter which is always good. Dave.

As always this is a very informative review. Thanks. I’m curious about the air exhaust on the new Central vacuum. Is it out through a grill vent or out through another hose connection. I’m using a parkSide unit (from Lidl I think) at the moment which is fine but a little noisy and there is no way to direct the exhaust out side with another pipe.
