New D'Addario Straplocks! So Excited!

Today we are installing some new strap locks on Ryan's Schecter Hellraiser Extreme Solo 6! D'Addario has released some new strap locks and I have to say they are probably the easiest I have ever installed. If you are brave enough you can even attempt a behind the back guitar toss with these bad boys!
Even if you are a long time Dunlop or Schaller Strap Lock user, you should really check these out. My initial reaction is that I am very pleased with them and the ease of install. I will be testing these straplocks over the next few weeks/months and will follow up with a second review!

Lock-it straps , best I’ve ever had! No other traditional lock system compares. Zero noise and has held up the test of time!

@@chrisyoung8062 Do you own one? I have bought 4 "Lock-it straps " and they are all solid and I play at least 3-4 gigs weekly zero issues gigging with them for years now. I’ve tried all other strap lock systems and they all crap out. If you have better alternatives please do suggest some so I can check them out, love trying new gear! 😎👍🏼

@@Losbass No I don't own a set. I was just commenting on what I heard in the video. You could hear them sort of rattling at the 10:51 time mark. The Schaller S-Locks are supposed to be absolutely quiet but a lot of people like these better so I'll give them a try. Thanks.

They can be a bit squeaky. I’ve gone back to my dual Design Dunlop Straplocks on most of my guitars. I think I like them the best of all the hard mounted replacement options.

That’s how I slightly cracked the neck on my Epiphone Les Paul Custom 2003. It was my first guitar. Watched the Cinderella videos, installed strap locks flipped it behind my back outside to practice (the first attempt) It ripped the damn screw right out of the guitar and went soaring through the air toward my cement back porch. Still play it to this day 😅 I was like WTH dude. Never considered that could even happen lol

Love everything about the black colored hardware, I have them on all my guitars. Yes, the white felt washers have been replaced by black felt.... Why did they not make the washers black is beyond me, but a great system nonetheless.

Kinda like the Shallers strap lock but with a modern touch...nice sleek appearance, I like the thumb screw as opposed to the bolt...I'm interested, stoked on getting my hands on a pair 😎👍👊🤘🤘

For the money, Schecter is a real hard act to follow. They've always brought it. I really miss the C1 Classic neck through...what a righteous hunk of wood!!

Cool video. I just installed a pair of Schallers on my American standard strat. I've been doing some research beforehand. And funny Hodge twins reference btw. Gave me a chuckle. Not sure too many people would get that.

I've been using the DiMarzio cliplock straps forever but recently got a cool strap with a little spandex material woven in. So I got a set of these D'Addario straplock . It's been about 3 or 4 months still working great.

D’Addario makes a strap that has ratchet connections at both ends. They are awesome. They don’t make any in leather or padded ones with the ratchet ends as of yet but it’s a great concept and they are extremely secure.

Don’t put that garbage on an SG. It leaves marks. I got one of them for a brand new SG out of fear of dropping it. Then looked at the body and it left an indent on the guitar.

Great video! However, the screw is too short and I would have pushed a wooden toothpick into the hole and then screwed it in. Especially since the screw that came out of the guitar was so much longer (which is a good thing). Fender also uses long screws on their strap buttons. Gibson does too. Anyway, it's all good. Nice guitar!

I've been using Schaller strap locks forever now, but the way they sit on thicker strap ends always bothered me. Going to give these a shot. Thank god I've shrunk my collection down to 8 instruments. LOL. Thanks for the vid!

My only 'problem' with the Dunlop straplocks is that they are HUGE. Those D'Addarios look cool, though.

These are cool strap locks but the problem with metal strap locks are the noise they make while your playing. I like using the washers because they work, they don’t make any noise, and I can use what ever strap is available.

Yep, I have Schallers on all my guitars and they squeak pretty loud when you're putting on/taking off the guitar. One might think I'm being too picky but it's a real thing. I play guitar in my church worship team. Today the pastor was leading the whole church in silent prayer as the band was quietly getting back on stage. It was so quiet and then I slowly pick up my guitar to put it on and "eeeeeeeaaaayyy-eeeecccccchhhhyyyy!!!!!" The sound just scraped the chalkboard of everyones soul! Completely embarrassed. So now I'm in the hunt for anything safe, durable and QUIET! Carl, which washers do you like?

I have Schallers on all my guitars. My gripe is that they squeak and make noise over time. Now that you've had the D'Addario for a few months have you found them to make noise?

There is a little bit of squeak yeah. You can hear it while playing of course, but while not playing yeah can hear some.

They cost more than other strap, they look cool but now the bad news, there higher priced than other locks, after about 10 or 20 uses the “pulling” button fell off in my hand, its not threaded on, there rivet on, can’t repair

trouble with the strap ends that require tightening with thumb and fingers is they work loose.. I had Fender's straplocks where the end worked loose during a gig and it dropped off.. I'm guessing the D'Addario's will also work loose and drop off too.. I'll be better if the thread was attrached by a proper nut and use a socket from a socket set and ratchet or spanner to tighten or loosen.. with nylon strip on the nut.. to hold it in place..

Good info. They seem loose. Love the company but Schallers are tried and true. I’ve had the button assembly come apart on a older set and the cradle held the guitar in place

I’ve tried pretty much all strap lock systems. They always wear down, become loose or break down. The best and by far, lock strap system was actually a strap called Lock-it straps! Those straps are still going strong , I’ts been years now and Zero issues!

Bat Eats Moth I don’t do a lot of neck shaking on my guitar and have a pretty thick strap so I haven’t noticed much noise actually.

I'm thinking of ordering a couple strap locks for my guitars. How did they work out? What's your thoughts on them? Are they reliable? How's the quality?

Gerald Johnson I’ve had a bit of shitty experiences with my one pair. First of all the spring mechanism in the clip on part which is attached to the strap, doesn’t work anymore so like it’s not a spring mechanism anymore, the thing can literally come off if I am positioned at a certain angle or if I jump up and down and stuff. Secondly the screw itself literally came out of my guitar and it was screwed in extremely well. I think overall it’s a very very sexy locking system but I unfortunately had a bad experience with them :-(

I like Marvels myself that are about $15. that's a better design but not unlike others I've seen .. I usually use the stock screws unless they are super chinsy. how much do they go for?

It's too bad they put a white washer with the black button. Would prefer a black washer. I have a black guitar and that white would really stand out and look terrible I'm afraid.

I'm going to change my tuners out on my 2015 Les Paul and 2016 Flying V HP with the locking hipshot tuners, will this create any issues for me? I believe that hipshot makes a kit to do this without making any hole, is this correct? Any help with this is appreciated or if there's a brand that may be more ideal. I still plan to use the hipshots, unless it's just not a good fit. I believe you have some experience with this and value your opinion.

I've ditched straplocks that reqyuire removal of the original strap buttons.. and went to Fender rubber straplocks that go over the original strapbuttons and keep the strap in place.... much cheaper..

@@RNAMusic I really like the simplicity of them. And the fact you don't have to cut out any extra space in the strap hole to make it fit -- that's a huge selling point. I know we discussed cost some on FB, but it's looking like they're well worth it.

Still working! Have them on one of my guitars still. I’ve used dunlop dual designs since the 90s though, and have those on most of my guitars. Really simple for me to switch straps with the same system on all guitars

They are a bit noisey. I’ve been using the Dunlop Dual Design strap locks since the 90s…. Still what I use on 90% of my personal guitars.

25.5 scale doesn’t feel great for me. Much prefer the 24 3/4. Plus i like humbuckers more than single coils. There are lots of musicians who feel just like me. There’s a lot that love fender. Nothing wrong with that. I don’t care if people don’t like Gibson, or don’t like PRS. There’s a lot of those people out there too. Doesn’t mean anything at all lol.

Bill Jarvis because I like daddario. They’re a bit more low profile that Schaller as well. That’s one thing I didn’t like about schaller is how long they were.
