Designed with the professional in mind DEWALT's First 20V MAX XR 3x21 in. Cordless Belt Sander is ideal for carpentry, remodeling, and general contracting. The variable speed trigger with lock-on and speed selection dial allows for ultimate speed and application control with 25 speed increments. The quick release belt change allows sand paper to be changed easily with the quick release system. With the over-mold auxiliary handle it gives you two- handed operation and better grip for an easier scribing application. The dust collection feature with included adapters, tool-free dust chute is compatible with DEWALT's Airlock System or a standard 1-1/2" dust extractor hoses to minimize dust during sanding. Wireless Tool Control System allows for ease of use when paired with compatible DEWALT vacuum or dust extractor. With the Brushless Motor you can achieve increased runtime and efficiency. Lastly, the 3x21 in. platen allows for larger surface area sanding.

I just bought one and in less than a minute the belt walked off twice. Thanks to a search your video solved it in less than 10 minutes. Now back to sanding.

I bought one and centering the paper isn’t that easy. Thats why i thought i was doing something wrong as it kept coming off so i looked up on here for some help. Hopefully, i get it the next time i use the tool.

Great review, thanks for making it. Would you recommend this belt sander or a plug in sander now that you have played with it for a few weeks?

Thanks, Chris, cordless is definitely the way to go these days. The only time I'd recommend corded is if it's a tool used for production work or a tool that is used most of the day. We have some customers that still will use cordless tools in those scenarios, just make sure you have multiple batteries to alternate them or allow enough time to charge while using the other batteries.

can you remove the front handle so you can use the front roller against the wall? I have a 3" curve I have to sand and was wondering if I have enough clearance to do that

After looking at a unit, it doesn't look like the handle can be removed from the sander

Can i use that for automotive painting?

Honestly not familiar with automotive sanding. We deal more with woodworking tools. If standard corded belt sanders are used in automotive sanding then it should. This is just a cordless version so it would be the same without a cord
