Those Malazan editions look INSANELY beautiful!! Congrats to you all on creating something truly special with this - looks like it's going to finally replace my mass market paperback hahah
I actually love those asoiaf covers, I might have to buy the set when it comes out. I only hope when winds of winter comes out they make an edition in the same style so it doesn’t look weird.
Wonderful job on the Malazan art work at TBB, unfortunately I won't be able to afford them so I'll just limit myself to drooling over the virtual pictures of the books 😀
Thank you for all the news, my friend! Always so much going on in the SFF space 😄 I am ofc beyond excited for the TBB Malazan editions - can’t wait to get my hands on these!! I’m in love with all the art 😍 I’m also super intrigued by the new fantasy anthology, there are a lot of fantastic authors involved 👀 And Gatebound can’t come out soon enough, I need to know how the Illborn Saga continues 🤩
@@book_scent you're welcome, Karin! Alwyas thankful of yoru support. I hope the final print of Malazan TBB edition will look awesome! And yes, cannot wait for Illborn Saga continuation! 😄
Super excited about the new Unavowed anthology, especially because it seems to be a nice mix of favourites and new-to-me authors. Would have loved to see a couple more female authors though... but alas. Also nice to hear an update about Dreams of the Dying book (or should we say books) 2! And heeeck yes for Sundered Moon, you really need to read that duology ;)))
Thank you, Esmay! Yeah that's fair. At least we have M.L. Wang and J.A. Andrews! But hopefully the second volume will include more great female authors as well. Can't wait for Cure for Living!!!
Man, that would be tough to read a chapter a week from Brandon Sanderson for anyone, let alone someone who reads as quickly as you do! But I also agree that I want the finished product. I don't have the time to read it twice!
JDL Roswell- I’m currently reading The Legend of Tal book 3 and enjoying the series His Rangers of the Titan Wilds series is also good and was in Spffo24 finalist
Petrik… your next project is Earthsea. Those books are very short. The whole series is as long as a Sanderson book. 😂For a moment I thought you will tell about a new movie adaptation…
Hi Petrik! The covers of Malazan look amazing artistically :). Coming from someone who hasn't read the books, I'm worried that the covers feel too similar to one another; they all focus on a character in the midst of an army/battle. Will there be more variety later? Maybe some "quieter" scenes? Or will they all showcase a war? (I know war is a huge part of Malazan)? What do you think? This is a big problem I have with the UK editions of The Stormlight Archives covers.
@@itscatoclock hey! That's fair! The goal was to make each 3 books look like a set. So the next set should use a different theme while hopefully retain the fact this is the same series. Hope that make sense!
Hi Petrik 👋 I'd really love to get the Malazan books, the Elden Ring book (all the T&F editions are stunning!) and the ASoIaF if I could. Am currently trying to fight the final boss of dlc, but with the horrible lagfest in phase 2 especially (my PS4 is sad face lol), it's even more frustrating 😬 so please wish me luck! 🙏
I can't wait for Malazan to go live. I need these editions on my shelves! I have my calender set for saturday 😅 On the preview read along ... I never read previews even if it is just one chapter. And I certainly don't want to read this much before the book comes out fully, in the case of Wind and Truth. Do people really want that? Oh well. I am currently on Rhythm of War anyway and not ready to go. Still ~800 pages to go.
Kate Daniels is decent, as a Dresden fan though you REALLY need to check out Benedict Jacka's Alex Verus series. Only thing I've read so far that comes close. You and the team are doing an amazing job with that Malazan SE, man.
Hey Petrik, sorry if you’ve touched on this before. But are the Malazan broken binding editions for subs only? Or will anyone who “registered interest” have a chance to buy? I’m just not fully sure how the interest list works. Thanks!
@PetrikLeo - you’ve to read the Dungeon Crawler Carl. These books are so fun! I’ve been reading them non stop since last 2 weeks and I’ve finished the first 5 books.
Lol same, I'm in the process of figuring out what type of device to read the third one on. I've got 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6, but 3 is impossible to get anywhere in a physical copy. (I've preordered the hard covers anyway but will be keeping an eye out for the paperback, I love the covers)
DCC: indie/paperback covers are soooooo much better. They fit the vibe perfectly and add delightful character to the books. Would've been bad af to get those in hardback.
hey Petrik, idk if i remember this correctly, but the Malazan books will not be a limited print run? there will be a second printing for those of us who can't afford it right now? i'm also suprised to read in one of the comments that it's not sewn binding. is that realistically hard to do? probably an unfair comparison, but i bought a discounted standard copy of a day of fallen night and was surprised to see it was sewn. i backed tune & fairweather's Soul Arts a while back, and i'm very satisfied with the book, it feels premium. but i am more willing to spend $$ on art books than narrative books. it just feels like i get more of my money's worth. i feel like your expectations for DCC are very high lol. it was good but not amazing (i only listened to book 1), especially since you'll likely read it and not do the audio. most fans probably love it partly because of the narration
The signed edition will be a limited print run. Second printing depends on demand, I THINK. And no, sewn binding done with publishers as far as I know are super expensive. Having acid free paper increased the price already. Day of Fallen Night and Pillars of the Earth for example have sewn binding, but they're relatively super rare. Usually, these happens to very successful authors. Circumstances will change among publisher though. There are so many things behind the scene that many readers don't know. 😅
The French editions of Kate Daniels have much better covers 😃 Unfortunately the English covers are really bad and they can't do anything about it because they are trad pub. Their self-pub books have better covers! (And the foreign editions)
I personally don’t see the hype behind Earthsea (NOTW is sooo much better) but I guess it’s cuz she INVENTED these concepts? So hers is foundational and unfair to compare to modern stuff
@@PetrikLeo yeah I feel the moment you’re the inspirational book or author that started a concept everyone then based their books after you’re automatically a 10/10 cuz even if u don’t like their book u gotta appreciate creativity and innovation in the genre cuz so few authors do bring something entirely new to the table. Not saying it’s bad to be inspired obviously but authors like that are on another level is all
That elden ring special book looking slik. But the content thuse not convince me. Corect me if whrong, but i think is not oficial iformation, is made by fans. Im not sure is a satisfying buy...🤔
