Addressing this from a frequent topic in the comments…if you have a problem with the fact there are now black elves and more diversity in the game…I BEG you to unsubscribe from my channel 😁 I’m tired of hearing “it goes against Tolkien’s lore” as an excuse for you to be prejudice so get the frick off my channel please 😂
You have it all wrong. Rings of Power, and now LOTRO, ARE prejudice to what Tolkien wrote. This isn't the United States or even Earth, this is Middle Earth! Elves are described in detail in Tolkien's work. So anyone who wants to change or agree to changes are the problem since they hate Tolkien's work.
Quick Answer, there's none, DEI is the priority, lore and being as true to tolkiens descriptions as possible is just in the way. Also any dissident opinion on the matter is censored and supressed with "racisim" being their excuse. It is just sad
@@aubreytheweirdone Where's the upset? OP asked a legit question. What does "muh representation" have to do with an established world and established lore? LOTR is Western fantasy based off of European phenotypes with specific descriptions given to the Arda races. It ain't that deep, commenter wants to know why one of the most lore-centric MMOs to ever exist has seemingly gone off track. That isn't prejudice, that isn't bigotry. If you don't follow the lore, then why should anyone care about your fantasy world? How is this a hard concept for you to understand?
I was playing around with it last night and I love it already. Some of my toons now look a lot closer to how I imagined them. It's really good for a first beta, with definite room for some polish. As for the hairstyles, only the original hairstyles have been updated so far. Some of the new styles will be added in a later Bullroarer either next week or the week after hopefully. The high elves are going to be updated as well , but not in time for Update 42 unfortunately (the bodies have been updated, as well as the colour selection but no facial changes yet). 😁

I made the same exact noises after finding out from the elf news that "Men" got a visual update XD these already look so good and I can't wait to see it finished.
I see some potential, like a lot of the additions. There are some though that look a little odd or out of place...maybe too much contrast. Hoping for a bit more polish but positive vibes overall.

indeed! one thing that really annoys me is the statue-like way the elves stand still, we hardly see any movement in them, their walk is also very strange, with their arms together. I hope they update this.
Are these also for High Elves or just Elves? Also, when they make those updates, is there an easy way to recustomize character for free or you're kinda stuck with what you had prior to the update unless you pay?
High Elves currently are not included for this update. My guess is that High Elves will not be updated for some time because they are more recent than the 4 races we started with in the game. And yes, whatever you started with you’re stuck with. You can always go to the barber and update your look in game but you’ll have to wait until they have the update go live as it’s just in the preview server at the moment.
I love the hairstyles and my High Elves (when the time comes) may get leafy hair but I'm not a fan of the textures and stuff on the face. idk why but I like the faces of the elves now.
@@aubreytheweirdone Oh yes lol. I do agree they look more realistic for sure and that's great. I must just be a simpleton and like how they are now. The Man race change didn't affect me too much so we shall see once this finally gets to the High Elves. But I do agree they needed to be updated and I love the leafy hair!

Im in love with the new look and hairstyles, I was stuck with one hairstyle for a while cause I didn't like most of them. I can't wait to change my Elf Hunters looks 😭❤️

updates look good for the most part the female barbe looks a little off in the body but overall good changes Now Aubrey don't you go out and have a few ribs rermoved you look great the way you are LOL.
Aww thanks Gary! I agree, the female torso looks a bit odd with the ribs sticking out like that. But I will not go get ribs removed. I'm good on that XD
I don't like much of what they've done here - but I totally agree with you on how people are complaining because of 'lore' (loud dogwhistle here) and not for genuine reasons
to be fair, the lore is a genuine reason, and the only lore accurate racial addition, would be for East Asians, because they all have fair skin. That being said, it's a video game, so why not let ppl make what ever. I'm just saying the lore is a valid reason to be upset. Even though it's just a game.
I like the hair stuff, and the more detailed faces, but not thrilled with how they strayed from the OG lore into the fake Amazon lore. That is not my Lord of the Rings. :(
@@epicgameztv The leaf hair decor looks so good for both in my opinion. It can make for some good RP type of characters, but I feel like maybe they should’ve added that just for High Elves cause I feel like that would be something a noble would wear more so than anyone else.
Techncially East Asian Elves could fit the lore, as it talks about their Skin tone. But I beg SSO to add in some 3A Curly Hair. Yes, Tolkein's Lore has Elves with Straight hair, but like. If we're adding options for player freedom/expression as most modern games have these days. Then why not? I want to give my Male Elf hair that I actually have! lol.
I edited the Curly typo, lol. But nooo, I lost my creator like for editing it, 😢. Anywho though, I really enjoy the couple of vidoes I've seen so far on this channel.
While I agree that it’s not very lore friendly to add dark skin colours to the elf customisation I have to say that it’s completely irrelevant because everyone can make their own elf in whatever Color they want. And i know this community enough to say that pretty much everyone here is a hardcore Tolkien fan, so most people will stick to the lighter skin colours anyways.
SSG is backside deep in DEI. In D&D this is 100% good. But Middle Earth has regional races for a reason. Now, where is my lily white Umbar characters? Oh that is right, it's only good to change anything "white" these days.
