I ENJOYED YOUR REPORT ON GOOD 'OLE ENCINITAS! I WAS RAISED IN ENCINITAS. GRAMMAR SCHOOL THRU HIGH SCHOOL. GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL IN 1955! I CAN RECALL MY MOTHER & SISTER & I WALKING TO TOWN THRU A CANYON BEFORE THE FWY WAS BUILT! MOM WOULD PUT THE GROCERIES IN HOME-MADE SADDLE BAGS WHICH I WAS LUCKY TO RIDE THE FAMILY HORSE HOME. IT BOGGLE'S MY MIND TO SEE THE VAST CHANGES THAT HAVE EVOLVED IN ENCINITAS!!!
Walkability. We live in Encinitas. My 80 something mother and 90 something step father would strongly disagree. They find the hills too much to handle. Cardiff is pretty steep getting back up the hillside from the village. It’s a good workout.
@5:50 … we have some nice high-end hotels… Hotels? As in plural? Like more than one? I live here and I know of only one high-end hotel in city limits. And it’s brand new. Everything else is motels, ranging from scary to nice for a motel. I don’t consider the Hampton Inn to be a high end hotel.
I agree we have some good restaurant choices. We took our Chinese friends to what we though was the best Chinese in town, Chins. But she said it wasn’t very good. Too anglicized and mellowed out for suburban Americans. She said the better Chinese is over on convoy in SD. So you aren’t gonna please everyone. Too bad we lost our last good Greek restaurant a couple of years ago. They retired and closed it. It was a great little place.
Give your thanks to the Good Lord that the early morning fog is there. It burns off about at 11:30. If it is clear in the morning, that is when the desert blows in from the East and you will expect temperatures in the 90s. It is called the Santa Anna. No Thanks, I will take the clear mountain mornings of Carson City Nevada
