An H&R employee posted that Remington destroyed the tooling when they decided to bury the brand It's been some years ago. I wouldn't doubt it because the dealings I had after they moved everything to Ilion were not pleasant. Shame too because they were an affordable working man's choice for many years. Lots of animals and birds were taken with mine
Use to have a 12 gauge. Old gun kicked like hell. But I loved it. Hopefully me and my wife can find another at a local pawn shop. And she can get it for my Christmas gift!
Nice looking weapon. I put a really nice leather and suede shotshell sleeve and leather sling on mine. You can also get brass trigger guards and forend pieces for them.
That looks just like a H&R Topper Jr. model that my Dad gave me in 20 ga. for my 9th birthday, in 1971. I still have and treasure it to this day. I shot buckets full of squirrels and rabbits with it back in the day. The one you showed is a fine gun. Take care of it!
You are correct H&R was purchased by New England FireArms then sold to Marlin ,then Remington bought Marlin then want bankrupt. Now Ruger firearms owns all of them companies because they have all the rights to them. Ruger is going to bring some of the previous companies models back Marlin but, have not heard anything about H&R products.
Still got a HARINGTON AND RICHARDSON MODEL 176 IN 10GA, 32" FACTORY FULL CHOKE BARREL, IT'S WAS ALSO PRODUCED IN GARDENER MASSACHUSETTS, THE 10GA VERSION WAS MADE FROM 1975‐1886 IV BROUGHT DOWN SEVERAL CANADA GEESE WITH IT OVER THE YEARS AND A COUPLE OF TURKEYS, MINE WAS MADE IN 1981,VERY WELL MADE SHOTGUNS IT'S A KEEPER FOR SURE! New England firearm came after the HARRINGTON AND RICHARDSON COMPANY INC. 🇺🇸👍
I got one about 20 years ago had a Gunsmith cut the barrel down to 18.5''. Shot the hell out of that shotgun. wish I didn't sell it. I was in my 20's and you could get them at Walmart for $100 all day for years.
@@sheepdog72 Look on guns International. They are a reputable sight for used guns. I picked up a 1993 used11-87 in good shape, for about $ 600. Don't expect to get one for $ 100- Those days are gone.
I bought one for each of my girls when they was first starting out in 20ga. even with pads on them they kicked the **** out of them. But they are a good little gun.
Hey bud and friend yes, just make sure it is safe to shoot. If your not sure take it ta reputable gunsmith or sales of guns in your area. Amehumm ! Not Walmart ! Go to a place in your area that sells guns not a pawn shop and ask for ammo or Google it ok .
Mine is a 1975 and I LOVE IT ! I was advised that you can shoot slugs, bird shot and anything out of it or maybe I need to research it but thanks for the vid ; ))
RDM Man you can shoot any type of load/shot. 12ga rifled slugs are made to shoot out of ANY choke (with the exception of extra full or turkey choke). The “fins” on the slug compress as the slug passes thru the choke and will not cause any damage to the gun
@@sheepdog72 there is a .44 Magnum barrel insert adapter that you can drop into the barrel of your 12 gauge shotgun. CHIAPA is the company that makes the barrel insert adapter.
Just quicker reload for me with it being a break barrel. It was a new shell holder. I know there's a chance of dropping shells. It was a behind the door, just in case gun. 👍 Good eye!
Sheepdog Shooting Sports Ok. Thanks for the tip. I always assumed there was a spring capturing it because mine immediately retracts the instant I let the trigger reset. But I’ve never disassembled it. So, now I know.
