In this video you’ll learn a little about calendar clocks. Clocks that keep time and date without electronics, all mechanically. The featured clock for this episode is a 1974 New England Spring Wound Regulator.

Your video inspired me to find a similar clock. My clock appears to be the same, except that it also offers an hourly strike with an extra gong at the bottom of the hour. I see it as a replacement for a New England calendar clock that I lost in a burglary in 1983. It arrived from an eBay seller on Christmas Eve, looking and running like new. The strike is an appealing low, mellow tone. I have another New England Clock that I bought in 1986. It had quit running five years ago. Recently, I was able to get it working myself, using a green instruction sheet that I have kept on file. My mother was born in Farmington, Connecticut, the town where the New England Clocks were made.

Thanks for sharing and congrats on finding a good running replacement clock. I've come across the strike model only once a few years ago. Calendar clocks are a joy to own. Enjoy and happy New Year!
