I was lucky enough to take part in this dig as part of the Community digging team and have been looking forward to this so much. It certainly did not disappoint and I cannot wait to see the second part tomorrow. I wonder where he initially got it from. If he came up with it himself one day, or perhaps it was something he heard when he was still a student, maybe the way some random person described a site to him... there are a thousand ways. Regardless, it is a perfect simple to understand description. (I have watched the entire series 4 or 5 times and certain episodes a lot more than that, but I cannot for the life of me remember if anyone ever said anything about where they got that term from originally)

Rebekah, While it is great that the immortal "and we've only got three days..." lives on, and it's great that Stewart was the one who said it... but it's not Tony. The same way that it's not Mick asking questions about the findings. Many of the questions that he asked, he already knew the answers to; but people learn, and retain, more when they figure the answer out on their own, as opposed to being told (and Mick knew that). Tony was the voice of the people. He became so beloved because he asked the questions that we (the people watching) would have asked. He was the member of Time Team that was us, the novices. We became a part of Time Team (vicariously) through Tony. The new Time Team is just as fantastic as the original; but it will never be the same without Tony. Nor is it the same without Mick and Phil and Ian and a host of others that are no longer part of the current cast and crew of Time Team. But those who are no longer with us, will always be The Time Team, and will always be remembered.

Great - a real step up from the first two, which weren't at all bad themselves. Gus has found his feet and got the pace and energy right. Richard Moriss is brilliant as ever. Just straight back to the best of the old time team with lots of familiar faces. Do more and more often!

Having watched scores of Time Team digs, I was a bit surprised by my emotional reaction to this current one. When in the opening segment Matt Williams issues his urgent call to arms, I experienced a delightful surge of the old excitement--a testimony, I think, to the anticipation this series has inevitably inspired in viewers. I also wish to say a quick word about Dr. Gus Casely-Hayford's commendable performance. He has inherited a hard act to follow, to be sure, but he acquits himself extremely well. I may have an insight that could be of value for Time Team. I've seen every episode available on RU-vid. When I saw this new episode, I was caught by the introduction being presented by Stewart. I couldn't wait to watch it. While exploring my long-time attraction to Time Team, I was reminded of a recent interview with Richard Hammond of Top Gear fame. When asked about the phenomenal success of Top Gear, Richard said that it was all due to the fact that the presenters always kept one guiding element in every show - "their passion for the automotive world." Richard said that no matter how silly and outlandish each show was, "the passion was always at the center." It seems obvious to me that the passion for archeology present in all of the previous shows is what made me watch every episode. Tony's genuine passion may have acted as a spotlight to expose the passion in all of the other team members. I believe that Tony also demonstrated that slick presentations. My final thought is even though new archeological technology and better production is of some value, it's the passion for archeology from all of the team members that will keep me subscribed to Time Team. I began with my experience of seeing Stewart at the beginning of this last episode and I knew his passion was going to make a great show. 🙏 Sim Graves

Thank you, Time Team and the Patreons! Such a gift to be able to watch this fantastic series. Presenters and experts have all settled in so wonderfully to the new version of the show. It’s entertaining and educational, exactly what it’s supposed to be. Uncertainty, delight, questions, suppositions, and the slow build of the case for, or possibly against, the original brief. Great stuff!

Great to see another new episode. Found Time Team about 15 years ago and have been hooked since. They reignited my passion for history. Looking forward to more!!

It is so strange (in a good way) to see Matt at the beginning around the Time Team truck - that is a first for me!

id say tony is a good bet, he's been participating more in sneak peeks and adverts for the team lately. would be great to hear his banter back and forth with stewart and jon

Yes i find Dr Gus too much of a gusher i prefer Tonys strong sarcasm and argumentative attitude

@@naradaian To be honest, I don't prefer him to Tony, but I like Gus. I think he would be far better as a replacement for Robin Bush. Not only is History his actual profession, he has just the right voice for it. I could really imagine him doing Time Team Extras! For the presenter, I honestly think they need someone more up-energy. Tony is a little too snarky sometimes, but the right level of dynamism. You can really tell that Gus has the same enthusiasm, but it's his nature to temper it, which isn't right, here.

I loved all the classic Time Team episodes that I've seen on RU-vid. This new Time Time is as good as the classic.

i love helen bringing everyone down to reality at the wrap-up: but it IS still only day one, so it isn't surprising that we don't really have a plan. so much on that site to explore, i hope we find some real juicy bits!

Tony Robinson was brilliant as the main TT presenter, and he was one of the key reasons I watched TT. I thought he would be irreplaceable. However, I am really enjoying Gus's contribution. He is, of course, very different from TR, but I think he's doing a great job.

I love, love, love seeing the original crew in action. It's like meeting up with old friends who you've grown up with, learned from, had all these amazing experiences with, and who are as fascinated with history as you are. They have become a part of history. Kinda makes me tear up, ha. ❤

I am so happy that Time Team is starting to air Dog one from the 2022 digs, that were done, and so far Day one does not disappoint, but I have to agree with John, that getting closer and ever doing radar over the graveyard and IN the building itself is called for..
