Alright Colin lad, glad you enjoyed the Tour I'd say ya lucky f**a but you've put the hours in over the last 2/3years to more than earnt your privileged access to be the 1st drone footage flyers a sight at our about to be amazing new home..!! And from the few moments you mentioned of it it sounds absolutely stunning..!! I remember after watching the vids of the main structure being built say to the cladding and the roofing to be fixed on, before we all shot down in the car to look thru our own eyes and drone footage does not even come close to the size of the structure in its size and height..!! And even from the Club's inside footage it's still difficult to get a real understanding how beautiful the Stadium is going to be..! But from your brief explanation were in for a massive WOW WOW WOW FACTOR..!! So Thanks Again Colin mate for keeping us all in the picture 🫡💙 UTFT

It seems that the two roof access points in the east and west stand roofs will remain to provide future roof inspection access, I wonder if EFC will set up guided roof walks, I could imagine that the views over the river and city will be spectacular.
@davidbadcock2225
@davidbadcock2225 3 месяца назад
Yes, the hatchways and their immediate permanent surround rails will remain as will the railed walkways ON the roof (not the temporary ones at the edges of the roof). I doubt that they WILL take guided tours up there and it will be for maintenance only but that's just an opinion. If they do, I will be enlisting on a roof tour.

I’m not 100% sure but I think there was another air-con outlet in the barrel-clad section that was installed today. It’s been covered by a standard perforated panel rather than a ‘super perforated panel’ not saying it’s wrong but just thought I’d flag it.

Quality Vid again CP! I could be wrong but you might have a Scoop here: The rhomboid vents on the right of the East Stand as we look at it from the road are not symmetrical with the vents on the left. It could be an Optical Illusion as we look as there is still a piece to go in?
@davidbadcock2225
@davidbadcock2225 3 месяца назад
Mike: the scoop is that there was a grille that has been covered with a 'normal' panel. That's thrown me. I was expecting another single rhomboid port-hole. the remaining 4 panels don't have a grille behind them.

John: the double or single rhomboid 'port-holes' reflect the number of vent grilles behind. They're not supposed to be repetitive symmetrical insertions. However, having said that, there was one vent grille still showing yesterday morning but it got covered, surprisingly, by a 'normal' panel. A mystery.

@@davidbadcock2225 Thanks David, I understand that if the vents need to be sealed to the cladding it would be necessary but if not then it seems an oversight to me thanks

@@johnjonesToffeeman Hi, John. i trust this finds you well. It's all about aerodynamics and how air gets drawn out due to the air passing creating a vacuum. The barrel is shaped like an asymmetrical (in the vertical/Y-axis) aeroplane wing with the vents in line with the leading edge, maximising the air movement away from that horizontal line. It's true to say that IF Dan Meis had wanted to create a different appearance it would have been simple to do so, so it was a conscientious decision on his part. I predict the 'port-holes' will be well up the league table of stadium design feature negativity, whether in the eastern or western perspective.

@davidbadcock2225 3 месяца назад
BluePeter: they're not meant to be. They reflect the single/double vents behind them from the Hospitality Lounges and Satellite Kitchens. Every angle or perspective of the stadium is designed to be different to underline its uniqueness and character. A degree of asymmetry is actually designed in by Dan Meis so that it keeps the interest. He was keen that the engineering story should be revealed or hinted at, rather than smothered in sterile symmetrical uniforms. It will divide opinion.

Love this thread folks. There is no right answer. On the one hand, most people crave symmetry in a design. On the other hand, practical limitations and natural asymmetry in engineering requirements deny the ‘luxury’ of pure symmetry. The whole site is irregular in shape. Each stand is different, environmental factors such as the exposure of the West Stand and West plaza to the effects of inclement weather, all require acceptable solutions. All these elements have to be, and have been, considered and what we are seeing is the best solution, I’m convinced. Just an aside, I Wonder what our King thinks of this stadium, given his passion for architecture and heritage preservation, I’ll ask him next time he rings me 😂
