I have been riding the new bike and felt I wanted to share a quick update from my experience. It’s a sh*tty production but might be of interest to some. I also need to be transparent and let you know that I am a Factor dealer in Sweden.
Good review. Thanks for taking the time to post it. I know that your time on it is has been limited so far, but can you tell us how it responds when drilling it on a climb? Does it feel nimble and responsive?
It’s super responsive and nimble. I did 5 climbs today. 4 of them was “small” and one around 20 min. With this type of bike I expect it to be good at climbing and it doesn’t disappoint. I have 120km and 1850 m of altitude tomorrow.
What tire pressure do you use for the Black Inc 48|58 wheels since it has a "Mini Hook" on the rim instead of a full size hook? Does the tire pressure have to be no higher than 73 psi (5 bar) just like on hookless wheels? I am wondering if the a Mini Hook can handle the same hire tire pressures like a normal Full Size hooked rim?
Hi I have been riding around 5 bars. The maximum recommended tire pressure is 5 bars for 28mm tires. And 28 mm is also the minimum width that you must use. I’m around 72kg at the point of making the video. I rode 4,5 bars yesterday and it feels fine. Haven’t done proper sprinting yet and don’t know if it will feel spongy, time will tell 😄
Nice bike! Looks great. Interesting though that with the new light wheels and with your weight saving measures it came in at7kg, (7.25kg with pedals?). Factor did say that a 6.8kg build was easy....? I do think that the new aero tweaks are good and worthwhile.
Well I guess it’s “easy” if you go with DA or full red group set . And in all honesty the scale I used is not the most reliable one. It showed 7.1kg with pedals (7,01kg without) and I know my Ultegra pedals aren’t that light 😅 I might have to invest in a better scale for the future.
Does anyone know if Factor fixed the rear Thru-Axel problem that exists on version 1 of the Ostro VAM? Also, there are lots of posts online about the bottom bracket creaking and the headset compression plug/steer tube problem. Hopefully all of these problems have been fixed on the 2024 Ostro VAM.
Hi I haven’t really experienced any issues with the rear axle. Not in this model or the previous one. As long as you have some play in the rear derailleur hanger it’s easy to slide the axle through with some help from your hand lifting/adjusting the rear derailleur a tiny bit. I have never experienced creaking on T47 BB. Compression plug is another story. That issue is something I have came across on several Factors and unfortunately this new model as well. Making it impossible to ride without a hand on the bars. Very annoying and can’t really figure out how to solve it.
@@rafluyten1885 General consumers and Pro Tour Teams were having major problems with not being able to tighten down the steer tube compression plug tight enough. Therefore, people had to overtighten it way past the recommended torque value just to keep it tight. As a result, the carbon steer tubes were cracking or completely breaking because there was a manufacture defect in the way the compression plug expands inside of the steer tube and also from the overtightening. Supposedly Factor starting shipping new bikes with an updated compression plug that is supposed to have fixed this problem. However, lots of people who have the older Ostro VAM and this newly released 2024 version are saying the front end of the bike is still unusually Twitchy and Unstable which is very concerning. There are several Google articles and forum posts about all of this and there are some RU-vid videos about these problems as well.
I rode a total of almost 400km on it in Barcelona. Weather was terrible. Lots of wind and cold. But the bike was just unbelievable. I can’t say if it’s the wheels the bike or both in combination that makes the bike feel so good. I rode outside here in Sweden yesterday and did some high threshold intervals. I was flying and it felt effortless 😅 In all honesty it’s not much more you can ask of a high end bike, new Ostro has it all.
@vladipp2850 Cyclespeed Tours measured the Frame weighing 915gr. and the Fork weighed 496gr. (and that was with the Fork steer tube being slightly cut). The Seat Post weighed 213gr. Total weight for just the Frame & Fork = 1,411gr. for a size 52cm.
@@cyberx7098 cycle speed tour was a white paintjob which is the heaviest and can add to the weight of the frame and fork 100 grams ,this naked black carbon frame is the lightest option
Im 178 cm and normally sit on 73,5cm saddle to cc on crankset. I normally go with 52 or 54. In this case a bought a 54 because it was available for quick delivery and in Sweden most people ride a size 54/56.
I am far from areo bikes, I believe that high-tech bikes are soulless and very much alike. Mostly of average quality, and overpriced. I ride since 2023 TIME 2023 Alpe d'huez. The legend of Alps.
