I found that when I set my dangler's agility to 87 along with elite edges, I could back skate as I crossed the blue line. But haven't gotten it to work for any of my other loadouts
True but in the other hand, with the pressure systeme they are creating a huge gap. The skilled team are going to make the bad one struggle a thousand times more in their Dzone. In both cases, it's terrible.
Skill gap? Knowing how to do a shitty move is a skill gap? Lmfao. Learn how to play the actual game good. How many Michigan goals has McDavid scored? Is he not still the best player on the planet? 🤡
@@Will_Buff If it doesnt require skills, everyone would be equally good, right? How do you explain bronze/silver players versus diamond/elite players then?
As a casual gamer like myself, it’s nice to just be able to do flashy shit and not have to look up tutorials on RU-vid and practice the same thing over and over
the control schematic should definitely be accessible for the unranked/casual(offline) lobbies, but it shouldn't be accessible for ranked matches/tournaments
I've learned all these moves when i first played on NHL 14, literally spent hours all night in shootout mode doing everything I could to learn all the moves just for something like this to come in game....literally shit
It’s just a game. It’s not real life. That’s what made the past games so good. Because they were FUN to play. Let’s bring it back to gaming now! Once and for all.
@@alliharris2884 lol as if skill moves are gonna get u past my enforcer defenseman with 90 speed... u small build nothing but using speed r the only ppl I like playing
@@timpicard9946 ohh no good sir. I know better than that. Just put it this way my favorite player is jumbo. I use mostly the big offensive players and sprinkle in a little bit of dazzle.
@ghost_cowboy9979 then you both suck... making everything easier and one button gets rid of creativity and exploration You new kids are pampered.... go play 80's and 90's games and learn how to actually play real games
They just crying because they spent 20 years playing the same game and new player base coming in from other more skillful games and beating their asses 😂😂
Nothing wrong with having it be one button. It’ll save some wear and tear on the expensive controllers. I know how to do them either way but simpler is better.
@@shanelarose9239irl the thing that keeps players back is their skill not because they can’t hit a couple buttons so it being based off attributes it would make sense
personally from my experience i just got back to nhl and i played 22 ,23, and 24 and tbh i like 22 how the moves are like for the between the legs it's like 2 or 3 buttons and the datsuk you gotta hold the stick down drag it down like a slap shot then flick up for a wrist shot and to do the flip you hit rb or r1 on playstation but it's just my opinion tho
I spent time grinding to learn them and I would often do it right over and over and sometimes it just wouldn’t register correctly or whatever. The goals aren’t any easier to score and I have yet to see anyone I’m playing with but me land a Michigan bc they still don’t know how to time it. I don’t think it’s super negative tbh. I think the Michigan should be harder but like the datsuk flip is basically the same amount of buttons lol like it’s really not that different and I just do the older way for the one handed tuck too.
Same. I’ve scored three goals using the lacrosse move and only one opponent has done it against me. I’m P1LVL20 so I’ve played enough games to know what’s happening. The kids with 800 goals still can’t do it. They use speed and get constant breakaways. That’s what’s ruining the game. Not button control.
i think this is kind of a fallacy because skill is relative so if the controls are easier there will just be some other skill gap. the complexity of controls isn't what makes somethng more skillful. you could have a game with 3 buttons and there could still be a massive skill gap between players. Like old school arcade games for example
Also who in their right mind decided to remove the 94 controls it made the game super easy to handle pass with x shoot with o now every button serves a purpose it’s gonna be quite difficult to play offense especially with Nhl 23 making offense tough
I get why people can hate it but for people playing the game for the first time or the people that have been playing but aren’t as good it makes them both look so good. Me personally I think EA is trying to even out the skill level of the players since people I’m sure have quit a game because of someone else’s skill
Same with every EA game. You can do crazy moves and it’s pretty easy. It’s made for all ages so their big target market is younger kids to get money. It’s always money
I'd like to add that reverse hit and protect puck on the sticks is just as bad, way to f-up our sticks and screw up with the skill stick. They really need to let us map out our controller settings. I would remove one of the one-touch dekes and add back reverse hit and protect puck on A/X.
I think it's just for people who are casual gamers who wanna have fun. Personally, I tried it for like one game before I switched back to stick control.
They should have a hall of fame roster where you can choose from Gretzky, Lemieux, etc. including all the fabulous Russians over the years like Bure, Mogilny, Fedorov etc. Imagine the defence corps you could build. How about Pronger, Stevens, Bourque, Niedermayer, Lidstrom, and Blake. Imagine that Legion of Doom.
I’ve tried michigans on total control and I can’t even do it but i understand some people can do it kinda just removes all the skill and knowledge of hitting it in other control like skill stick
It's terrible. Moves separate the good from not so good with pulling the more "advanced" moves. The fact you can Michigan with Pat Maroon is a massive L
Worked on me. I haven't played an nhl game since sega Genesis in the mid 90s. This will be the first nhl game I've bought since. NHL 24 is light years ahead of madden 24. It's sad what madden has become.
@@mnmfreak502nhl has fallen so badly compared to last year. Nhl is one of my absolute favorite games and i deleted 24 within 2 matches because of choppy gameplay, crappy animations, and just overall bad gameplay. Buy 23, trust me
I don’t mind it. I hear they don’t have hybrid control anymore? I never played with full skill stick. So I never did anything special like this during the game, so to me it’s cool. I still bust ass with hybrid controls.
I agree with you man. I’ve been a NHL EA purchaser for YEARS. I’ve been buying their games. I know I am all done buying them now on after they changed the controller settings I’ve had it with them. Pretty bad I spend over a $100 on the new game to only play it 6 times.
I've paid and I want to have fun once a month or so. Press a button do a move, have fun and turn it off. I support making online a full challenge but my offline game on my own fun should be effort free.
I miss the old physics engine. In the new one the hits just don’t feel as good you don’t have that get off the tracks the train’s coming through feel if that makes any sense at all. The hits feel lighter and harder to land with any sort of consistency
People getting upset that everyone can now enjoy to do these amazing moves without hitting every Damn button on the controller. By the way it doesn’t take away the uniqueness, just makes the game better
Well, to be fair, between the leg was two buttons, L1 + R3 😂 Thats what I've been telling them on the nhl forum, some dekes were already easy enough so take one of them down and bring back protect puck and reverse hit on A/X
I turned on skill stick controls instead after 10 mins of owning the game. It felt way too much like 2K. As much as NHL sucks sometimes, I’ll always love the basic right joystick toe drags & spins. I fucking love the cleaned up back skating in this game too, tbh.
I’m pretty casual, but I do like there being a skill gap. Seems like this game isn’t super new people friendly and neither are some of the dudes that play it 😂
I was taking about this on my stream. I feel like I'm playing nhl on super nintendo with better graphics. Totally got rid of stick handling. Why can't stick handling be super sick vs vise versa.
It’s a fully different layout. The new setup is designed to be able to shoot, pass or fake out of any of the signature dekes in the game, along with still having the skill stick for between the legs, windmill, or toe drags
I don’t really see the problem? Having all of these mapped to one button means you can’t necessarily do them on command, and raising the skill floor shouldn’t affect you if you’re a competitive player because a newer player would still struggle to beat you
Funny part about this is that those moves will still require skill to score just because you can imput them easily, which doesn't mean they're easy moves. Plus, nobody will have a clue what tf they're doing for the first 2 months, so you'll be fine 😂
What no? It depends on how the animations plays out. If it just comes down to pressing a button quicker vs good poke/body checks no matter what than overall defence is screwed
I like the option for Total Control skill moves, but at the same time the drag shot is insanely awkward your character rarely lines up with the goal correctly, so I've opted to not use it. I don't find the lacrosse shots helpful, in game you miss a good amount of the time. So I wish the Y was something else. Through the legs insanely awkward to shoot in game just like the drag shot. Its not a problem to me for it to just be a button though, its not that hard, half of my team and I growing up could do these shot/passes in real life. But the biggest fault in these controls is that they all end in a shot or a pass. They arent that great imma be honest. Its like the game isnt designed by people who play hockey.
This is actually great! I don’t know how to do it and don’t even wanna learn, but I’ll be able to use that. Btw, it’ll still have the old version. Everybody wins.
Not in a competitive environment. If a difficult to pull off move is turned into 1 button that my 4 year old pulled off on his second try something is wrong.
They make video games for kids, they make the video games easy and will make a kid feel like a superstar. And the companies will get mad $$$$$$$. The companies don't care about 20,30,40,50. year olds want it would mean realism and less sales from Kids. Because kids can't figure out realism. So the companies make it so you just hit one button to do the rarest goal in hockey. To appeal to kids.
Just when i leave nba2k24 to try out nhl24 .. i see disappointment but im honestly having fun its something new. I used to play a lil nhl back when i was young so this is like a fresh start of a sport game hoping its better than nba2k. The community is way better in nhl as far as i see 💯😎
Why is everyone complaining about this? What makes a deke hard? It’s not the combinations of buttons you need to press, literally anyone can do that, anyone could Michigan the old way, anyone could datsuk the old way, anyone could between the legs the old way, it wasn’t hard to press the buttons. What makes a deke hard is timing and actually knowing when to use it, so what if it only takes pressing triangle once to do the Michigan? It’s not like it will go in if you do it nowhere near the net or right on the goalie, you still have to perfectly time initiating the Michigan and letting go to finish it, it’s the exact same difficulty, without the convoluted control scheme. Controls for a move being convoluted doesn’t make the move hard, it just makes it more annoying to do dekes, for example the one handed tuck was so buggy on skill stick, you would stick handle left and press the bumpers at the exact same time and half the time it wouldn’t work and the other half it would do it the wrong way, with input lag making dekes require combos just makes dekes luck based gambles, which they already are with players that have low deke stats, if you make it so dekes only require one button you still need all the skill of timing and game sense without the bullshit of the player just not doing the deke half the time
@@johnjamesmclaughlinNo it did not, it made the game better and more fluid, punching with the stick was terrible and took away from an actual boxing experience. They made all these complicated swooping right stick movements for each round punch which takes too long therefore breaks up the ability to throw combinations fluidly, punching with the buttons made the game feel smooth and like you could actually string together punches on the fly. Champion is the only one that has an actual fluid stick system, but all of the other games had garbage punching mechanics, especially the stupid haymaker system, which was fun but also dumb and slow
@@trinidad510made it good for bad people when a person develops skills with the stick it became boxings button mad mashers didn’t matter I beat everyone anyways
I kinda agree, now everyone who couldn’t do the Michigan will be able to but, I like it the competition gets better I think your upset people will be pulling this move on you more often.
The michigan literally almost never happens in the nhl. Even if you can attempt it with one button it should be nearly impossible to pull of in a game, and that should just be in the programming.
Terrible take. They’re catering to the casual player base cuz that’s the majority of players. I learned how to do the Michigan last year and it was incredibly hard to manage to pull it off in game. I have the luxury to be able to play multiple hours a day, and without that I would probably have never been able to do it. That’s why they added one button skills. You gotta put yourself in other peoples shoes. If you still want the satisfaction of hitting the button combo you can use the old controls.
@@CarPig I agree but I’m saying it makes sense from a business standpoint and it’s very obvious why they did it. You said it made no sense, which is a terrible take.
He’s right buddy you’re just ass. No more 5 buttons and timing to pull it off and have it look sick. Now it’s just Y. And nobody cryin just speakin opinions…. U fucking fruit
so happy with the new buttons, it's great for those of us who just got absolutely F'ed with the hit and poke completely breaking the Defensemen. Now I can switch to shooter and not have to perform a 10 button fatality to do something cool.
Played two games. First game we couldn’t hit a damn thing, and when we did they got right back up. Second game a guy hit the Michigan twice because he never passed it and just went behind the net every time, first tried it then got it on third attempt. How’s that fair lol
