We have a new dish at Docking Bay 7 in Galaxy's Edge. The Felucian Kefta has been replaced with falafel! While I am sad to see my favorite dish change, this was a worthy switch.

Hi I'm Melissa and I run Vegan Disney World. I started it as a website in 2014 to showcase what the vegan options were in Walt Disney World. Follow along to find out about vegan options in the parks, at sea, and at Universal Orlando Resort.

3:27 I agree - I was going to say - that falafel looks scrumptuous. It looks like it has tomato as well as herbs - so it's really inspiring. I think falafel really has great capacity for creativity - because you can make it from just about anything and have any flavor you want. I'm just looking forward to a planetary swirl - where they incorporate many colors to blend it together (while it's still separate - like a swirl - you know) - into a falafel ball. You can have green (like kale) mixed with orange (like carrot) and earthy dirt brown (like chickpeas) swirled together into a really cool design. I bet they could add purples, pinks, even blue (there are blue beans if not blue corn) to really accentuate the space color pops! I think this is great new territory that they're experimenting with - and honestly - I'm all for it! Planetary spheres ftw. That's the thing about meat - you just can't innovate past it - while you can mix it into foods and prepare it in other ways - the base material for the most part stays the same. Not so with plant-based items - where it can be whatever your heart desires and you dream up - and honestly - that's what disney could use right now - a reboot on creativity - and what better way than food? The only thing missing in that dish is honestly microgreens - that really look otherworldly - but I realize that would up the price. Still - I think that would be a huge boost to move away the pangs of missing out on something - when you can have something way better. If people don't like the taste of beets - maybe beet microgreens are for them! I think there's ways to go about this - so this is definitely a new frontier for them to explore - and I'm 100% all for it! Yay! (let's secretly jump for joy lol)

I'm not a garlic person, but I love the incorporation of beets in - it's so colorful - it's very space-themed! Purple/maroon is a space color. Mega stellar!

I really like the look of that garlic sauce - out of this world! That's what I like about vegan food - it's way more colorful and thus playful on the eyes.

Sad to see the Felician Impossible Kefta go, but this seems good! Also sooo glad they have the yucca fries. They are definitely hard to find now. Thank you for another great review!

It was a great replacement. I’m so glad it was still a good meal.

I was thinking about yuca fries yesterday - thinking I'd really love to try it. I was dreaming of falafel last night - disney sure reads my mind and makes my dreams come true in reality!

if they keep moving in this vegan creative innovative futuristic direction themed - then I will reconsider adding disney parks to my list of places to go for birthdays, get togethers, etc. I left for the excessive animal products, hesitated over the unhealthy/faux products, but am stepping forward with the truly vegan direction!

Thanks for reviewing and letting us know that it’s still an awesome choice in Hollywood Studios. I never did get a chance to have the other so I can honestly say I don’t know what I’m missing. 😅

This looks fantastic. I love that it's gluten free if you leave out the pita, my wife will be thrilled. I can't wait to hear about the kids dishes. My daughter is vegetarian but otherwise adventurous and I'm always down for a kids meal when I'm hungry but not in need of something bigger. It's a good way to save $$ at WDW. Thanks for all the info!

I’m so relieved this is good!!! 😅 Thanks for the review. I wish I liked beets, but sadly I don’t. Glad I can eat around. I really hope they don’t replace the Rontoless Wrap!

I think if someone doesn't like beets - they could make the falafel wrap and it should mask the taste. Honestly - I'm hit and miss with beets. I prefer raw beets for its authenticity - the earthiness, but I don't like its sting (probably from the oxalates) - which is why you'd eat it with some lemon juice to cut the oxalates down. I don't really like cooked beets, but in say a kale salad - it's fine.

That looks so good. I think I might have to give this a go, though I do love the ronto wrap.

I definitely recommend trying it. I really enjoyed it.

I love that you posted the recipe - so that people can still enjoy the faux products at home (where they should be) while we can have straight veggies at disney theme parks! I say that's a really truly happy compromise!

I'm seriously really glad they're moving away from faux products - because that's what's taking me away from going to disney parks. I'm not going to eat some animal tested animal feed (i.e. - soy) animal replica (tissues - like meat) when I'm supposed to be at a really happy place (maybe my everyday life at most - because I do a lot to provide animal analogues for those who want to transition - and that unfortunately means me trying all of them out - when I just don't believe in faux products). However, I agree - faux products are extremely futuristic and space-oriented more than falafel ever will be. I think faux products are still extremely great and cool for those reasons and they do serve that purpose - of a 'trendy', 'cool', '21st century futuristic' factor that we all love. And giving a plant-based alternative at every restaurant, even if it's faux - huge step up. I think it is cool to have them at disney - to blend in. It's just if you want to be truly vegan - it's a downer/downplay. So I think eventually the direction is going to be 2 plant-based meals - one that's truly vegan and another that's faux, but the issue is that that's too much to sustain on menus, not to mention a takeover that animal 'lovers' (a.k.a. - animal eaters). But I do feel that would be the next step - if they were to go that way. For now, I see how switching away from faux products is just going to attract a larger vegan audience - and I personally don't find that a bad thing - and is the moment I've been waiting for! So yes - good on disney for that!!! Yay - bob iger's back - and he's on a roll! I think we still can have futuristic faux product themes for thought experiments in disney - to show the direction towards plant-based foods as the ultimate direction. I hope one day they will go back to the futuristic themes that faux animal products provide by switching to maybe faux plant products - growing plant tissues in a lab for food! Then we can cut down on deforestation (if it's wood cells), excessive water consumption (like vanilla, coffee, chocolate, etc.), labor difficulties (like saffron), etc. That goes into the whole epcot ride - of living with the land - and its futuristic laboratory stages that could turn into space farming themes - where there's testing of plant growth in space and realize that due to directionality of roots making it hard to grow plants - that they switch to lab cells and tissues of them instead - and thereby saving on resources. If not plant tissues - maybe microbes - like spirulina and chlorella goop. I think algae and microalgae's very weird to be alien-like for food! That's a great direction too - like spirulina shakes, because spirulina was developed by NASA to be a food in space and to save the world of hunger! Or even bioreactor foods - not just microalgae, but other microbes too - like probiotics or those that produce vitamins - like B12, D3, heme iron, etc. (they can do fungi, but it's problematic where people can be allergic, not to mention it's co2 generating!). Well hopefully we'll figure this one out - but I feel there's a way to 'have your cake and eat it too' - so to speak: having futuristic food elements but without the animal aspect to it. Instead - switch to plants and microorganisms! Maybe even synthetically produced chemicals (that're not from mining or fossil fuels) - but photosynthetic!

I know that disney listens - because whenever I write something - they try to make it happen! Which is what I supremely love about them! I love that they went faux and plant based and love that they're moving forward to a more vegan direction - all this is music to my ears and happiness in my heart :)
