New film and TV studios to open on Chicago's Northwest Side

False. The Dick Wolf shows will continue to shoot there, as well as The Bear and The Chi. Those shows aren’t going anywhere.

they may. but what Cinespace hasn't succeeded in is providing comfortable communal space. there is no green space, parking is a disaster, there is no cafeteria, no third party food spots, no cafes, no child or doggie daycares, no hardware stores. It would be cool to have a gym and locker room. But we are lucky to get a bathroom in walking distance from the offices, yet alone hot water to sinks or regulated HVAC. If it rains heavily, you can hear it in the sound stages. I know it was incredibly expensive to make, but they didn't account for the several other factors that make a film studio lot function and thrive. It would be cool to partner with a studio and allow space for a prop house.. a film lot should have a lot more than just sound stages and offices.

There are so many shows shooting right now that we barely have crew to support them. Everything in LA is a ghost town. Not saying it'll last forever, but we've done exceptionally well here the last ten years. Our incentive doesn't allow for favorable conditions for features though, so with any luck that'll change and we'll see more movies. Currently it's a big TV and commercial town.

As someone who has worked on Movies all over the world and currently has worked on Chicago PD for the past 11 seasons. I can guarantee you what you are saying is woefully uninformed. No offense. But all three of the One Chicago shows film here exclusively, as does The Chi, Deli Boys, The Bear and others. Illinois has an amazing Production Tax Incentives. The Unions here do not demand anywhere near what the Local unions demand in LA & NYC. Plus we don't get paid anywhere near as much as the locals in other cities do.

Don’t get me wrong our demands rlly haven’t been met and there are def still issues to be ironed out but ur trippin. Damn near every show filming here right now exclusively films in the city I literally work on the chi, power: force, and sum shit that’s not out yet and we never leave the city. Farthest out we’ve gone is like Barrington lmao
