Hey man I came from Jay group. Coming from experience and keeping lots of FH pls quarantine these fish. They’re genetics aren’t the strongest making their immune extremely low. Also got the best result with these fish daily water changes and warm water is key. I would also recommend feed them other pellets and shrimp and now dosage of jays pellets. High protein does grow them fast but power feed only leads to health problems
Thank you for the very valuable info. I will keep the best care I possibly can. The fireman's dream cichlid has a special place in my heart, so for sure, I'll take your advice.
Not trying to judge but do you quarantine your fish? It happened to me once where I lost all fish in one tank, no thanks to me isolating the new fish! A valuable lesson I will never forget! You have amazing fish by the way keep up the good work.
Quarantine is subjective, and everyone does it differently. How I do it may not be how everyone else does it. In the video, it seems like I move fish around a lot, but this video has taken over the course of 2 months to film and make. I reccieveed the fireman's dream 1 month prior to receiving the parrots and was in qt with the angels. I moved the angels and placed the parrots and qt again, so the fireman has been qt 2x. When I qt, I pay attention to what is needed right away and treat accordingly, as mentioned in the video. But yes, qt is a very valuable lesson, and I do it hard, especially losing half my fish room.
Haven't even watched the video yet! But leaving a comment to help with the RU-vid algorithm. I already know it's gonna be a great video. Edit: Nice fireman's dream flowerhorn (a strain bred from a well known breeder in Thailand named Wuddy) and pair of King Kong parrots. But unfortunately, I've never seen a fertile male parrot of any kind in all my years of keeping those hybrid type fish (for the reasons you've mentioned).
Thank you for your comment and the info! I always appreciate the input from people who are knowledgeable in what they are specializing in. I hope you enjoyed the video!
@@amazonianangelfish anytime. I've kept flowerhorns, red Texas, and all sorts of parrots (from regular PetSmart/Petco ones, to king kongs, red monkey, and even super red mammons at one point) for over 10 years before I got tired of them and have ventured to more naturally occurring fish types and now angelfish (thankfully that's how I stumbled upon your videos). Unfortunately, I have never seen a fertile male parrot fish in all my years of keeping those hybrids. Supposedly, folks say your chances of getting a fertile male is even less than winning the lottery. Idk how true that is but I do know it's rare. Beautiful fish regardless though. It's nice to see there are still folks out there who enjoy the hybrid scene.
@@tonyher22 That's good to know. I won't put forth all my energy towards these guys, however, I'll still try a few more time in breeding these guys and see what happens. Knowing this, that's why I got the Fireman's Dream to breed with the female King Kong in hopes that it works out, but that project will be a while because he is still growing up. My project goal is to produce crystal parrots, or regular looking fish with more red coloration but we'll see how that turns out.
Great video but your water looks bad, really cloudy and the angels were looking stressed out, maybe you should get better filtration instead of using sponge filters.
It's a newly setup tank, and things weren't cycled yet. I'm glad you noticed it. Everyone does it differently, and I do fish-in cycle, so that's why they look stressed out along with me prior to recording going in there to divide out the tank. I did notice that and moved them out soon and did a large water change. No one died in the process.
