Guys that flower bed!!!! I would have packed more just to get that immediate gratification. Superb job boys😎. Some perennials I've never heard you guys mention that I really love Verbascum and Penstemon..... great height...do you guys have any? Shasta Daisies? Phlox?
We were so tempted to pack it full -- but we want to see what we're missing compared to the other flower beds. It would be nice to have 1 or 2 things repeat throughout the garden... instead of the crazy assortment we have now. haha We do have Marguerite daisies (not shasta tho: Leucanthemum)... the national flower of Denmark, actually. And phlox... yes! We just planted a bunch of bare roots. We should put one of those over there.. I'll see if they're already sold 😅
So exciting when you have a new bed to plant into. I am in the process of creating two more using no dig and I am frustrated waiting for the ground to warm up so I can start planting.
What a wonderful selection you have there! Looking forward to seeing how everything develops. I also live near the ocean, over in North Carolina. Love checking out your soil 😁❤️
Thanks for watching, Nicole! It's great to have good soil to work with for sure 🥰 One of the trade offs for a country with over 250 days of rain a year. haha
Funny!!! I just got back from Arizona. The tour was spectacular! We decided to drive to San Diego to the Hunington botanical gardens. I'm glad to be back home. I spent the day moving barrel cactus and cutting palm fronds. I got a kick from the south texas plug! Hilarious!! Your garden is already looking gorgeous. I love the tree. I'm going to sit back and watch the vlogs l missed. ❤ from South Texas 😊😊😊
Thought you'd like the south Texas comment ;) So glad that the trip to Arizona was great... we must check out those botanical gardens if we're ever on the west coast! I had to look up a barrel cactus. It's so cute! But my gosh... how do you even start to move one?! Glad you're back home safe and sound.
Thank you so much! You know, we're very blessed to not have to go out and buy a bunch of stuff... plus, this way is a lot more fun. It takes more time ;) But it's worth it!
We've been looking forward to seeing you guys plant this up! You have a lovely selection there and I'm sure it will be lovely. It's great you have shown how you can fill a bed with all you're home grown plants for free. Looking forward to seeing it all flowering 😊🧡
We can't wait for it to flower, too -- and to think that it didn't cost anything (except for time) is great! We still have some empty spots, but we'll figure those out once these grow in.
your garden looks stunning. I love your cottage style and your homegrown plants. you are truly inspiring. thanks for your videos. Kristin from eastern Germany
Such a beautiful flower bed. I can't wait to see it again fully developed!!! So, you actually leave your anemone 'bulbs' in the ground throughout your winter? They do not get affected by all the frosts?
Thanks for watching! Yes, we leave all of our bulbs in the ground. We dig up our dahilia tubers... but only because they're in raised beds. This year was the worst winter (cold) in years... but everything seems fine.
And once the poking starts, it goes quickly from there 🥰. Our muscari are already finished. But lots of other things coming up every day. Hope yours comes up beautifully soon!
This is so good! Beautiful plants, lots of work and love going into this garden. It will be so amazing. Our God gives us all these tremendous flowers to use and enjoy.
Isn't it nice having a new area to plant up? My borders are getting quite full now so I think I'll have to extend them or make a new bed as I can't resist buying plants and they have to go somewhere. I really enjoy planting things and I can tell that you both do too. I have Ajuga and it self roots between my block paving but I don't mind as it's easy to pull up and becomes a free plant and who doesn't like a freebie? Great video.
We vote to extend your borders. Ha ha. There’s never enough room. We know 😀 And isn’t ajuga great? You’re right about it being easy to pull up and move - most visitors to our garden go home with a pot of it from our paths, too. Thanks for watching ❤️
So early in the spring and your garden is already breathtaking! So nice to shop your greenhouse, I have a small garden at my condo and yesterday I went to a garden center and spent $54 on eight 4” potted plants. My garden is now mostly perennials or I would be broke.
We totally know the feeling! Plants are just so expensive. Even those tiny ones (like we grow here) are around 54dkk (that's like $7) at the planting centers. It's crazy... I do understand how long it takes, the soil used, time, etc. ...but jeepers! We are blessed with our little greenhouse where we can grow things ourselves. And you're exactly right... always go with perennials. You'll save so much in the long run 🥰
That's what we were thinking, too -- start slowly and see what we're missing. And see what colors we're missing or what we need to repeat from the other beds. Hope you're having a great weekend!
I am so envious of your soil! I have rocks mixed in with a bit of soil here & there. After 25 years of amending my soil, somehow I still grow more rocks than anything here in upstate New York, on top of a mountain.
We are very blessed with great soil. Even without doing much to it, it’s healthy. And your comment about “growing rocks” made us laugh 😂. Wishing you rich soil this season!
