I ordered that exact front splitter and I have been looking and looking to see how to install it on my car and finally I see it plus you walked through the splitter install! This video got my thumbs up because it was exactly what I was looking for! Looks amazing can’t wait to do mine here in the coming days!
I bought an inexpensive EBAY chin spoiler for my 2008 Benz E350 with the AMG Sport Package...I watched a lot of install videos and finally came across yours ... your process made the most sense to me so I went with it your way... the installation was super easy and measuring everything before drilling holes had me lined up just perfect...thanks for sharing your work methods with us
Yesterday, i saw ur tapping screw installation video, and went down with hardware and same splitter, but unfortunately while jacking i had a sprain on my back nd now m on bed watching ur nut nd bolt system that too i had in my pocket, what a coincidence, God too wanted me too wait for a day.... 😃
lol, it's amazing that I watched the 1st video then come this one :)). But, this shows the importance of securing the front lip while at high speed.! Great video, thanks mate
Thanks for the update. I was debating whether to go the easy route and use just self-tapping screws, or do it right with fender washers and bolts with self-locking nuts. I don't think I'll be doing any 125mph runs in my Impreza Sport, but it looks like it's worth the extra effort to get it on there securely as possible.
Crazy bro I lost mine at the same speed. I'm so glad it didn't cause any damage to the under carriage ! Well besides mangling one of my exhaust tips no other damage occured.
Ha ha Iv seen a few come off now I fitted mine few years ago in between the splash guard with the tie rods. Done few track days and been fine so far. I did cut a slot into the guard to help with pressure
Lost mine at 166 in model 3 performance, but I can’t use mounts. I’ve had for fiesta St’s. One which had 350bhp, the most fun car ever created, a smaller version of the focus ST! 😍😍 Pretty stuck tbh haha. On my route home it’s one of those roads where you can go flat out without many cars for like 18 miles and there’s a barrier separating the opposite direction, so my only real danger is a dear, a blow out or a cop 😂
Thanks I think I need to add some real screws and washers as well on mine also then I hade 145mph and it still there but maybe better to secure it up :-D
Just ordered mine! Definitely won’t be hitting 125 MPH in my car but it’s mainly for looks and so I can add some rods as well! Wondering if this will 100% fit on my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse 👀👀
Looks great. I bought these same splitter for my MK3 RS. But I don't like the idea of drilling through my front bumper to install those rods. I'll have to use L shape brackets to hold it in place from behind the bumber unto the top metal piece.
i have the Rally Innovations aluminum 3pc front (and rears)..uses heavy grade bolts..no flex or issues. That plastic looks like it can get pretty flexible at speed! Looks good though..nice job! What part of TX? Im in Converse (SA) ^_^
I did the same steps on your other video &&- unfortunately my sh* came off on the freeway 😂😂 i installed the second one, i. Didnt use splitter rods, i did however use rivet gun &&- added bolts &&- nut 💪💪 now i can fly without worrying my bootleg lipkit 😂😂
80mph equals about 300lbs of downforce...so 125mph... If these are functional splitters, the rods have to be bolted to chassis not the bumper. Just daily driving it may hold up, but the splitter flying off is not the problem... that 300-500lb of downforce will rip your whole bumper off instead.
It’s solid now. Haven’t gotten back up to 125. It’s few and far between that go fast. I just like building. But with the bolts and rods in place it has no wiggle at all. But definitely take the time and throw the self tappers away that it comes with. Someone else mentioned using riv nuts which would probably make a cleaner install and add the same security.
Hey @MoreeGarage I think we should link up man I'm Dallas . I made some Mods on my 2017 Chevrolet Sonic LT I think it will a great video. I ordered the same 3pc front splitter in my flew off when I was driving down highway I was mad but quickly ordered another one but I just got a 2pc front splitter
Bob Holland I really do not remember. I just went to home depot and bought some I felt were big enough and drilled the holes. Has held up to 140 mph so far. I honestly don’t try to go too fast anymore. Just had a little boy and he needs his daddy😉. Good luck with the install. Also the rods aren’t everyone’s style but they def work to hold it in place also!
The rubber spacers are meant to keep the splitter straight and inline. The focus bumper is not flat on the bottom so without them you would be bending the plastic upward in the middle if they weren’t there.
H LaWMaN H I have a special spot where no one is. I’m almost 34. I don’t endanger those around me. Can’t say I’ve always been that way but you live and learn. But yes very lucky something didn’t get taken out under the car.
