Yes! I planted roses I covered them in the winter and they lived!!!! Finally found how to save them from the PA winter weather!!! That sweet soul had it down! Lol They are beautiful ❣️❣️❣️
The white rose bush might not have any other buds because it’s too shaded. If you can trim whatever tree or bush is above it to give it more light you’ll most likely get more! 😊
The table and lamps are everything. Love, love the vibe. You are glowing now that you are back with your love, Romeo. Happy to see you both together. ❤
You can change the color of your hydrangeas by amending the soil! You should absolutely check out some nurseries who have arborists that will visit your home & walk through giving advice on if plants need moved, thinned, divided, etc.! The best part for us was learning about trees that had been hidden behind overgrown shrubs & once we ripped them out, it was a PLUM tree!! I can not explain just how helpful having two legit horticulturists not just telling us what we had, but what to add in for the best results!
Love everything you do, Macenna! One thought, if someone has not already mentioned it here: your garden is so lovely and so much love and care, not to mention time and expense was previously devoted to it. It might really benefit you to find a professional horticulturist (or someone similar) to hire for a few hours, who can tell you about each plant, how and when to prune, fertilize, etc. I think it will be well worth it! Take copious notes and then use a gardener’s journal going forward. Thank you for sharing your beautiful gardens with us!
If it's possible, I would suggest trying to add one or more sky lights to the LA house when you're ready to renovate. Even a small one would add lots of natural lighting to your place.
Be careful, though. Sometimes when you add skylights, you can end up feeling like you're under a spotlight and feeling like you need to wear a visor in the house!
Those Lamps!!! Are everything!! I so love your esthetic. Thanks for sharing. I’m so enjoying watching you develop the Texas Cottage and your LA house. The roses, my Gawd! Have a great day. 🤗👍❣️
Roses need sun, they dont like wet leaves and trimming them give more flowers, depends on the specie. If you cut out the withered flowers you will get new ones in some weeks. Cut above a leave with 5 seperate leaves on it. Those will be stronger than when you cut above a leave with 3 leaves.
Just a little note : rose live full sun, the white rose with two bud may do better if you move it and mist of your rose are floralabuna roses, they will have many bud to together, also you need to dead head the bushes to get rose all summer. I use to have a rose garden that over 365 roses of all colors and size. Love the rose garden . 💜🌹
My grandfather was a gardener. I grew up in Northern Cali learning about different flowers and trees and roses. Always will be some wonderful memories. Oh and those lamps?! I’m obsessed
Those lumps are trulli stunning!! I'm obsseded with marble base lamps!! 🤩🤩🤩 Such a great find! A suggestion if I may : what about adding a big mirror on top of that console table where the lamps are? It's right by the door, correct? It would be perfect! You already have art on the chimney breast and a wall of art going up the staircase as in your inspiration picture would be amazing!
The lamps are to die for! And I love that table you put them on! I can’t wait to see that front room transform! And with the mood board you created for that room the lamps are chefs kiss!
Here in NC we grow two different varieties of camellias. The first is Sasanqua. It has smaller leaves and blooms in fall. The second is japonica. It has large leaves and blooms in late winter.
MaCenna, can I please come and live in your garden! Those roses are just everything. Looking very forward to seeing what you do with the entryway. Loved the moody moodboards
I saw the coolest table at a thrift store for Romeo the other day... A coffee table made from a basketball hoop and net. It was laid on its side and then the top was glass. So cool!
You know when you are really enjoying a video when it comes to the end and you are like NOOOOOO.... I want to see more! I am so excited to see how the California home comes along this summer. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT VIDEO!!! I do miss your mom already though, I hope she will come and visit. 🙂
THAT GARDEN, THE CHAIRS, THE LAMPSSSSSS Oh myyyyyyyyyyyyy Gorgeous all of them. I can't wait to see what you do with all of your finds. Exciting times! Have a fantastic weekend and fun dreaming of what it can be!!!! Blessings
MaCenna!! In the design world, those lamps make a mark... It gives off a moody vibe and stands out on its own. Different paint colors will transform the living room into a fun place to hang out. While I am usually a patient woman, this project kept me on edge. Awaiting the end results with great anticipation. 🥰 thanks❣
It’s amazing that you inherited that garden space. I am in my second year of gardening and I’m realizing just how much work it is to establish plants and bushes. Maybe one day my garden will look that established.
I cant wait to see those lamps paired with a dark door or accent wall like was in your inspiration photos! really pulls more of the moody colors into the space nicely!
You cud paint more blues into a rug, make it your own, wud luv to see that actually, u wud inspire so many. Ive seen it done tons, but ur style is exquisitely rare and unique ❤
I was wondering what sort of style your LA place would be compared to the cottage... so happy to see that your vibe can convert so comfortably and still be so GOOD.
Remember, budding and flowering shrubs need lots of organic flower fertilizer, (Dr. Earth is a good one), because flowering takes a lot out of a plant. Kinda like growing a bunch of babies! 🌸🐝
No outlet on the wall just means less to fuss with when you take it down. :) It’s a good idea to cut your roses during the season, it will encourage more blooms. Just look up how to do it properly.
Gorgeous lamps! I love the coffee table too. Great session, didn’t want it to end. Thank you for sharing your life kinda lonely and look forward to seeing the next episode. aaah the roses ! 😍😍Cali is beautiful.
Love seeing your roses! I found some knockout roses at Lowe’s for $25-$35, far less than I’ve seen other places and they are blooming beautifully… except for my white ones. Your garden is so dreamy!
You inspired me to thrift. Found glass bowls, I think they are supposed to be punch bowls but I use them as my kitchen mixing bowls. So pretty... BTW I think you can look up local recycling stations and take your boxes or other recycling yourself if it is in your way... love what you do, more please!
Your house is giving me RPV vibes! The gardens here in RPV are so beautiful, just like yours. I swoon every time I go on walks here because the homes have so much charm and gardens/landscaping are next level.
I just assembled two for my indoor/outdoor pool area. We are in daily hard rains in Florida now, so having the indoor pool adjacent space is necessary. They are really comfortable
The flowers are stunning kudos to the previous owner you’re so lucky they’re yours now I’m jealous lol. The lamps are absolutely beautiful I love them they were a very good pick up gorge. Love the garden chairs you chose also very nice your house will be gorgeous when you fill it all. Thanks Macenna great work.😊
Macenna add banana skins to water, leave for 3 weeks then use as plant food. The roses will love it, as will hydrangeas and geraniums. I am planning on drying my rose petals as they start to fade, i did it last year with great success, laid petals in an open cardboard box, left it out in the ehat and they were crispy dry in a couple hours. Ive used them as decor in a glass bowl with some poppy seed heads. The Garden looking fab!
