It appears Futaba has not skimped on quality or programming options; just look at the size of the manual. However, I was disappointed to see what little came with this radio. For what this cost it should include extra grips of various sizes and a battery and charger. How about an additional steering wheel finished in flat black for a bit of customizing? Also, what's the deal with the flip-up antenna? Is that really needed? Seems like the resources spent on that should have been used else where (see above) or just left out to bring cost down. Regardless, you're ready to conquer the RC world with this radio. Rock on!
they usually leave the wheel poking out so it has zero pressure on it during shipping and warehouse and factory storage and fedex kicking your boxes around, etc.. they wanna make sure it has perfectly balanced and perfectly accurate guts in it. potentiometers can be thrown off if theyre bent or squished sometimes.. or atleast thats what ive always heard and thought the reason was behind that. the radios are either extremely precision packaged where they cant move at all in the package, or the wheel is left open and not touching anything.
I have the radio and love it! The features of the radio are crazy. I would probably suggest a feature video of the radio. I know when I bought mine it was really tough cause I was not 100% sure on the features of the radio. It took for ever just to figure out if this was the radio for me. That was simply put there were no real detailed videos in English about the radio. I am sure you viewers or follower would appreciate it.
My Bday present is this...at least it's on my list not in my possesion..haha. I just signed with Futaba and currently run there 4PLS, and love it! Can't wait for the 4PX will put that drop down on it!
Looks fantastic. Radios have come I long way, I remember reading an article years ago in rcca when spektrum was introducing this crazy idea of 2.4ghz radios.
I love the radio to bits its been the best one i've had so far and my previous ones were the futaba 4pks-r and the sanwa m12. Only thing i thought was a bit weird is the american version doesn't come with the li-fe battery and charger in the box. The japanese version i bought came with a 2000mah li-fe battery and charger in the box which is really good because i only charge it every 3-4 weeks.
Yeah, I'm sure it has to do with shipping laws on Lithium batteries. Hopefully they adjusted the pricing to reflect that! lol I have ordered a 2100 mah ProTek Life battery along with a few other items to help protect and acc it! Thanks for watching
I need to stop drooling... I own a brand new never used Futaba 4PLS still in it's box covered in a custom FreqeSkins wrap with a Blue Aluminum Steering Wheel attached... My current Transmitter is seriously tricked out! Even matches my ''HPI Ken Block Flux'' to the T. But yet I'm looking at the 4PX like, WOOOW! Can't help it! I'm buying one and using my 4PLS as a backup. Oh and thanks for that brief Futaba history lesson. I've must of seen all "Back To The Future" Movies a thousand times over and remember quite vividly the professor using a Futaba Transmitter to control the DeLorean! I owned/ used Futaba Transmitters for years currently using a T8FG for my 3D Helil's and Quads as well. They're great reliable radios!

The RCNetwork Yeah the 4PX is now a "must" on my list! I was pretty much sold at first glance with all the cool given features! One question though? Does the New 4PX reads Speed Telemetry in "MPH"? Or it still reads in RPM like my 4PLS? Which I found a little annoying... Thinking to myself, who on gods green earth can tell how fast a RC is going in "RPM's" without a calculator or graph lol.
The RCNetwork Damn that sucks! Not a deal breaker but I would like a MPH reading. Well it looks like I'll have to attach a "RPM To MPH" Graph on my 4PX lol.
I feel this radio certainly has it's own very specific place in the market. I personally don't like the formfactor due to my small hands, and i would not even use half of the options that are on this radio, but it's a beautiful piece of technology.
WOW! Great radio! Maybe go over the different types of switches that are on it (dial, saw that thanks, but a lever, like the MT-4)? Or what are the points of coverage on the Telemetry (heat & RPM?) That's awesome that it came with Styrofoam with a little window for the wheel to "peek" at you! hehe. Color display oooh sexy bits!

Definitely will. Wat about a wrest strap or neck strap. Don't want it to drop. I am actually waiting for mine from my local rc shop. But I have the dignity carbon handle. case and Skin sorted.
+jimmy chan There's a solid anchor point on the 4PX, should be good for either. When I installed the Diggity Designs handle (I have a video as well) I didn't realize the 4PX comes with the tool to gain access to the 2mm screws up under the screen. I ended up making my own.....I went with the ProTek case
You can use almost all futaba receivers within the last few yrs like 4pk an 4pkr an its well worth the money even thou its older know due to the 7 thats the big thing an current but i stay with what i like an can afford cause nothing is cheap 2day
hi Richard I got my 4px and wired up but I have no throttle response only have steering. this is how I connect to the receiver 1 servo 2 throttle I tried all other socket but still same. Only have steering no throttle response. The light on the receiver is solid green.
I noticed the knob in front of the steering wheel. Sort of reminds me of the radio that comes with the Armma Nero. Now wondering if this radio will work with the Armma Nero w/diff brain.

It really seems like the wave of the future for radios. I watched the Jason Snyder FB live stream of one....Amazing. I hope Spektrum fixed the latency issues though. I moved from a DX3r-Pro to a MT4 and no 4PX and the almost zero latency of the later is amazing compared to Spektrum's flagship of the time.

Kyle Becker It sounds like a great deal for what you're getting. I have run my DX3r-Pro for about 3 years now and it's been a sound radio.....until I bought the MT-4 from airtronics and found that the MT-4's response time was so much quicker than the Spektrum's........Then the Futaba 4PX added the same lightening quick response time and a million features with a cool screen. Really depends on your budget. The MT-4 is a great value at $199 for the radio/recv, but additional recv's are about $100
I mean it looks nice and seems like it would work great but at the end of the day its still just a radio system for a toy ( that has a built in smart phone , lol )

+ericsfallen2008 I use this controller still in all my race rigs. It can control up to 40 different RC's (Of course not at the same time) It also has model sharing, so if you like the way one 1/8th scale buggy runs, you can send the same config to another model memory. I still haven't figured out all of the cool things it can do!

+ericsfallen2008 Yep, just receivers. The least expensive receivers (still decent response time) are about $30 which is pretty good. As an example, Airtronics receivers are easily $80+ each
I know that 'solo' Lipo/Li-Ion batteries have strict rules regarding shipping (my Hobby Shop will only ship them via 'ground services'). However, I'm surprised that Futaba won't ship their unit with a Lipo (since it's capable of using one). Most electrical products (other than R/C) use Lithium technology anyways. I wonder if it's Futaba being cheap? I checked my Hobby Shop's website, for example the Spektrum DX6R uses a Lipo that comes with the transmitter. However, the FUT4PX doesn't supply one. I don't understand why one company would include a Lipo with their product and another wouldn't. This was the first look at this radio on RU-vid (at least in english) Some people want this information as little was known about the 4PX at the time. Sorry I made you upset on viewing a FREE video (to you) I make these videos (900+ now) as a hobby and to help inform other hobbyists out there.
Yep, great remote and it's my main race remote. I would give it an unfair review because honestly, I still to this day don't know all it's features! lol

+Connor personally, I would stick with Futaba. The radios are great and if you add vehicles, additional receivers are $30-40 for the decent ones. The Airtronics / Sanwa are great too, but additional receivers are $90-$100
