The Kolkata Metro extension was started by Mamata Bannerjee. It is under Indian Railway now which is already selling portions to private players. So why not do that?
@@soumya9734 It also constructed 327 km in just 15-20 years, actually the problem with Kolkata metro is that the state government or wb gov is not interested in metro. so everything is funded and managed by indian railway. The fair in Kolkata metro is also very low

I don't know why wb government is not financing because our own chief minister Mrs.Mamata Banerjee being the railway minister started the pilling works
She said she would not spend a single money and forced centre to take over it. I mean what sort of cm is she who is not even bothered about projects aimed towards people
I know KMDA integrated the beauty of Kolkata a lot but why not metro. the simple thing is got the vote of middle class people by building new metro corridor & now the slums vote which she want to get by not financing anything on railway's.To stop the project. 2021 might not be easy if BJP choose Mukul,Loket,Dilip,Arjun as CM then it will be better to stay with Mamata Banerjee.I don't want atleast unliterature people to become the CM of Bengal 😒
A thought frequently crosses my mind and saddens me: if none of the projects had been delayed at all, we could have had a 200Km metro network in Kolkata at present.

Thanks for the great job! Haven't seen recent updates on both Airport to New Garia metro and East West metro and are we to assume necessary clearances have been obtained for EW metro. To start.
But again a problem has arrived in the east west metro section The fire department has not given permission to start two station Bengal Chemical and another one bcoz according to fire department the rvnl have to built two more exit ways in both the stations for safety but again there is an encroachment problem .. Hence again the stretch i think is not going to be inaugurated in July ....

Joka has zero possibilities to be inaugurated in next 2-3 years. The depot itself will need 3years to be built. Then rakes will be brought after which another 1 year will be needed to conduct trial runs. So, no possibility.

I think the name of the metro stations like cbd, sub cbd at this corridor should be changed. The new town station should change to eco park, and bidhannagar station should rename as new town... And also the chinar park station name rabindratirtha is not appreciate,

Kolkata metro uses KMRC logo for East West stations and Indian railways logo for these lines. There is a serious issue about ownership which will be very harmful in the long run,this can lead to confusion and proper planning and extension is never possible without delay. Independent authority like dmrc is the need of the hour,with moud and state in coop,not Railways. But seems like momota is busy kicking doctors and intentionally delaying metro projects as the homes in line belong to votebanks
I live near Howrah Maidan, and there is a hoarding about the details of east-west metro which mentions deadline as December 2020. But they may start the metro services in the elevated metro stations.
It is taking so much time to construct a simple metro line....the work of construction is that slow....here in mumbai almost 12metro line more than 250kms is gona be build within 3yrs of time most wrk have been done and 2021 all the lines are bound to be completed....where is west bengal gona once it was the develop state and look where it is now..its a sad thing for people living kol...so sad to see this
