I’ve had my Garmin watch for about a year and I absolutely love it. I would basically never consider an Apple Watch because I could never go back to daily charging.
I have the garmin dive watch, decent MK2 and it is a beast. 11 day battery life with everything running, and indestructible. I have been hit by a car a couple times while biking, and the screen still didn't scratch.
I have a forerunner 935 and it's perfect. Last like 2 weeks on a single charge, doesn't break, tracks everything. Controlled with button and shows me notifications. It's like amodern pebble and I love it. It's a piece of tech that I don't have to worry about, it's just there I love it
Fitness os tje only real use case I have for a wearable. Using a smartwatch was really subpar largely due to the battery life just two little use for having another thing that I need to charge. As soon as I switch to a Garmin the several days long battery life became an absolute must have. I don't think I'll consider a smart watch until they can at least last 5 days.
@@Pontif11I also think some smart watches having touch screen as your only way of input is annoying, it's such a small screen and it can get so fiddly. Give me physical buttons all day long, I don't need to look because I can feel for the right thing to press. It's why I hate new cars infotainment systems. I just want buttons when I'm busy
@@benjabin6729 coincidentally i just finished a workout using the venu 2 😅 Its one of the garmins that leans into touch controls rather than buttons but i can't say it has been an issue for my use cases. Lifting leather lined gloves do the job without issue and i even got to try it in ligjt rain some weeks back and that wasn't too bad either. Granted some stuff is still controlled with the buttons so i do see your point, physical is definitely not something i necessarily want to see going away completely, the car example being a big one.
@@Pontif11 to be fair it might but be my stupid sausage fingers that make smart watches difficult. My partner doesn't seem to have an issue with her apple watch haha
I got a basic forerunner 55 for like $120 for running and I only wear it for running. Charge it every few weeks. 5 hours of gps tracking only uses like 30% battery. It's crazy.
As someone who uses the Garmin Instinct 2 (Non solar), my watch has lasted me almost a full month on a single charge, and thats with always on display, consistent weather updates, per second heart rate monitoring and numerous notifications per day. May lack the colour screen of most smartwatches and other features like Apple watches or Google based watches, but I find it meets my needs very well. Wasnt even that expensive either.
I have the Garmin Venu 3 and the 7-8 day battery life when using it as a smartwatch is definitely the best thing about it. I couldn't imagine having to charge my watch daily or even every other day.
This is so strange that Marques doesn't participate in this conversation, as it's about Garmin. He makes some moves to press the button on the audio device to show that "hey! I'm doing something to show I'm in the game and interested," but he clearly is not! He wants to move on; he has no comment on Garmin. On his OnePlus watch, he also didn't mention Garmin at all while comparing the battery life of the watches. I wish I knew why he has conflicts with Garmin watches.
"ecosystem builder" sounds like an American company threatened to fire their PR rep unless they came up with something on the spot as a response to recent gun violence and "Team, we need something less violent than Killer, we dont want our product to be known as a killer. We need something wholesome" and the rep did a line with the marketing director and they came up with "Ecosystem Builder"
I love the Garmin watches. I have a Venue Sq Music and recently upgraded to the Instinct 2X Solar. You can't beat 40 day battery life as well as a built in flashlight/torch.
I wish we could see wear os garmin watch with all the garmin features on top of google like polar did once with their m800. Just ordered oneplus watch 2 to replace my ~5 years old garmin fenix 6 pro because I feel like I need the wear os features more nowadays.
Bought a Garmin watch to help track my health, made every other watch feel like a toy or gimmick. My Fenix 6 was so durable it put scratches in solid steel and came out of it completely pristine. Use an Epix Pro now and every other company's watch feels like a step backwards.
First part of the video is a tad bit inaccurate. Garmin has offered expensive watches but they also offer less expensive models. I don't see the value in the $700+ models but I'm sure athletes appreciate that data. $250 - $400 models work just fine. Several of the features in the new Forerunner model are included in the Venu and Viva models. You're paying more so you can text and take calls.
I switched from Apple Watch SE to Garmin Fenix 7 Pro last week any holy shit I love this thing so much. Its so beautiful, durable AND has over 2 weeks battery life + solar, like what ? Ill never buy anything else
I always wonder what the margin on such watches is. Like a $800 Applewatch or Gamin watch can't really cost more to make than a cheap $200 smartwatch. It's no big deal to just slap better materials and a bigger battery on it. The rest is basically the same to the cheap watches.
The music thing is important. It means they need to be able to do their fuctions without a cellphone attached, it requires more usable on-board storage. IMO, this is one of the most important features on a smart watch. Being able to go for a run, or workout and listen to music while leaving the phone at home. This was THE reason I had a smartwatch. Most smartwatches at the time when I bought it couldn't play music. ended up going back to an analogue watch - because Bluetooth music dropped the battery life from 2-3 weeks to 2-3 days. And I am not charging a watch every 2-3 days. And if I'm not using music, what's the point in a smart watch? Heart rate and steps was kinda cool, but didn't really change anything
Forerunner 235 user here. I love Garmin because I have 10 days of battery doing 1hr workouts every day. And the best part is that they do not look like an apple watch. The look and feel of a casual watch plus the long duration battery are the reasons I won`t change it for another smart watch soon.
Between fast charging, fitness tracker battery life(as opposed to smart watches) and headphones with cases i think a lot less abput charging than i used to. Probably the set of advances i've like the most in a long while.
On my 4th Garmin ( battery life is great) but none have lastet more than 2 1/2 years. I won’t be buying another. For the money I’ve spent on Garmin I can get a beautiful watch that my kids will inherit one day.
Word is the vibration motor is weak. If your phone is not right next to you, and on vibrate, you got to rely on to watch receiving notification that you can feel and not miss. It's a no-go.
