It's good to see the trams helping get competitors and spectators to the marathon. Trams are by nature, so good at this. You only have to see how well they move crowds in Melbourne for big events.
@kyletopfer7818 Well it would be impossible to run two minute headways in any of these places because they don’t simply have enough trams to do that. And except for the rare special events like today’s marathon, there is little need for anything better. With the 7 1/2 minute headway on weekdays, the single stub terminus at Broadbeach South extremely rarely sees two trams at the terminus together. Sydney needs to get their act together in that regard.
@@tressteleg1 Sydney has enough trams to run Events services between the Stadium and Central Station at up to 30 Trams per hour though which is the point, and in fact in the original EIS documentation they talked about designing the Central+Surry Hills+Moore Park stops to run longer Events Specials trams coupled up to 100m.
When I woke up Saturday morning, I had no idea that two new trams were going to be in service. Their entry had been promised several times in recent weeks and nothing happened. So that’s why you got one on Friday, and this one as soon as it could be edited.

@@peterelvery No. As paper tickets are also sold from the ticket vending machines, I think they’re using the word ticket to also include cards. You certainly don’t need both.
@@markaylott1780 For several reasons. If the tram ended where it reached the tram line, a new station would have to be built for people to transfer. Apparently it was little extra cost (above a new station) to run the trams parallel. The trains only run every 30 minutes which would not match a tram every 7.5 minutes which would leave people stranded as the major shopping centre and a number of bus routes are also passenger generators. Having a second station only a few km from another would delay the trains with no advantage.
@@wence25games89 Yes they certainly are quiet! I meant to mention it in the video but forgot in the rush to publish it. I will have to check the noise levels of video taken inside trams when new 10 years ago.

And on the way for cars the speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour. The video itself is beautiful!!! Ik vind het ook oneerlijk dat de tram niet 80 kilometer per uur mag rijden. Onze trams tussen Den Haag - Zoetermeer vliegen met een snelheid van 80 kilometer per uur. I also think it is unfair that the tram is not allowed to ride at 80 kilometers per hour. @@openbaarvervoer.6883 Thanks. I’m pleased you like the video. When the line was extended from the Hospital to Helensvale Rail in 2018, I thought that 80 may be permitted, but it is not. Maybe the trams cannot go faster, maybe they don’t trust 100% low floor trams with fixed bogies to safely run that fast. Nevertheless 70 is faster than any Melbourne tram (60 is the limit, so is Berlin much to the annoyance of my driver friend there). 70 is also used in Canberra, but only 60 in Adelaide. The L1 in Sydney did have a section of 80 through a tunnel but for a few reasons (or excuses) that is no longer permitted. Are the trams on your 80k line 100% low floor and with or without swivelling bogies? Only Melbourne has swivelling on their E class, but still only 60. Incidentally I took video of Netherlands trams in the 1980s and early 90s, but have never published any.

@@openbaarvervoer.6883 I entered your title into RU-vid search and got several results, all around 53 minutes. I will check at least one of them in due course but as preparing my own videos takes quite a bit of time - the one you watched on the new GC trams, took very much longer than expected - I don’t have much time to watch videos of other people. I did try searching whether your trams have swivelling bogies, but it does seem they don’t, but it is not made clear anywhere I looked.

Let me guess - you’ve never ridden it because it is stupid. Maybe you will be surprised to hear that in the 2022/3 year, the tram carried 10.4 million passengers compared with ALL bus routes combined carrying just 11.6 million. The best bus route carried a little over 2 million. Last weekend for the Gold Coast marathon, trams were running every six minutes from 4 am and often were packed full. You would need several buses with several drivers just to equal the capacity of one tram. They would not be up to it.
@@tressteleg1 I think the biggest argument for trams is the fact that they do carry more passengers than busses ever could! I think people like this commenter are not interested in facts anyway! They are born negative!!
