Did you know more firefighters are killed each year due to traffic accidents when responding to calls than smoke, flames, or building collapse?
This is why we created a GPS-based emergency vehicle preemption system that allows fire trucks and traffic signals to talk to each other in real-time. When equipped with our technology, first responders can receive green light priority at intersections when responding to calls.
Other legacy systems require the vehicle to be within the "line of sight" of a traffic signal for preemption to work. The Applied Information system uses GPS and cellular technologies that can stage multiple lights on a vehicle's route, even around turns or obstructions.
With the Glance platform, you can view every trip with detailed reports, analytics, and custom notifications on your computer, phone, or tablet. Specific routes can even be adjusted to ensure optimal preemption.
You can find out more about our emergency vehicle preemption system and other smart city technologies here:

Would be nice if they had a red strobe light on the top or bottom of the traffic signal, that would notify EVERYBODY, that emergency vehicles are coming.

I agree that a warning signal on the traffic light would be a nice touch

Awesome, wish they had this 25 years ago when I was a firefighter! This is absolutely the worst part of being a first responder is TRAFFIC!

Midwest Traffic Control sold a system just like this many years ago. 3M sued for a copyright infringement and put them out of business. The system was called Priority One.

Some people in California's Central Valley like to covertly install line of sight traffic signal preemption devices sideways to make sure that their enemies vehicles constantly get red lights

People have been killed by emergency response vehicles at traffic intersections. An add on I am researching is an emergency indicator at traffic intersections that would advise drivers/pedestrians of an approaching emergency vehicle and/or vehicle approaching intersection at high rate of speed. Something visual/audio. People sometimes have their radios on loud and may be distracted. People talking/listening to music on their phone with headphones/earbuds on while they are walking. An app on peoples phones would signal them through an on screen flash message and audio tone as well. Most times, diue to other background noise, most of us don't really hear an emergency vehicle until it's nearby. Other times police vehicles are responding code 2 lights only, no siren. Just a thought. Researching/working on a patent now. 😉Wish me luck folks.

Hi Eddie, check out our mobile app TravelSafely! The app can alert you when an emergency vehicle is approaching, along with many other safety alerts. You can find more info at travelsafelyapp.com

An idea, something similar to a "weather alert" signal over the car radio that announces an emergency vehicle approaching an intersection, or have it come over a cellphone.......

what if it turns green and people in front of u go and the people at the light that emmidietaly turns red fly through the light as the people at the green light go, could it cause accidents or am I just confusing myself
@AppliedInformationIncSuwanee
The lights always go though a secure phase of clearing traffic (yellow for 4 seconds, then all red then green for fire truck. This clearance process takes about 7-10 seconds to safely let fire trucks get green and all other traffic stops. Sometimes it takes longer when the light has to clear out pedestrians.
