Regarding 1:37, The Latin inscription “Decus et Tutamen” means in English an ornament and a safeguard which is to decorate and protect the edge from telltale marks of coin clipping.
All 195 Limited Edition of the Royal Mint's 2024 Pistrucci Saint George & the Dragon Gold matte finish 2 troy ounce coins quickly sold out within a few minutes for £5,545 each when they were released this morning of Thursday February 15, 2024. On the other hand, the silver 2 troy ounce proof version has a much larger mintage of 2,950 coins and are still available to order for £275 each.
Bought 1no. 2oz and will by the Una bar when it comes out. After this I’m only buying the yearly sovereigns & silver Britannias. I’m about done with the RM now
@@the_islandstacker That’s probably what I should have done but have decided on doing a silver Britannia date run so that has taken my stacking money for a couple of months. Also been distracted by Silver & picked up all sorts of coins such as the grand mint durgas BU & gilded, 2 x 10oz 2024 Britannias a KCIII proof coronation (my fave coin design), 2 x Brit/lib colabs and all sorts of other coins!!! Must get back on the Sovs! Promised myself I’d fill a 19 slot collection box this year and only have 10 so far.
@@davisstevied wow sounds like you have been on spending spree. Guess it's easier to collect silver here and there as the prices are generally more palatable over dropping £400 on a sovereign. I got a few silver bits that I need to sell and put in gold. Also need to get some bullion 2024 sovereign to add to the stack.
@@the_islandstacker I’ve seen some of the 2022s going cheap on secondary! Sub £400 posted and I think chards were doing the coronation ones cheap. If I were u and ur not paying a premium those would be the ones I would go for over the 2024. I think 10 years from now these will be very desirable
@@davisstevied I agree there are some great deals out there. You can get some proofs for bullion money. I just want 2024 so continue my run. But I just brought a 1999 proof for £40 over a 2024 bullion.
@the_islandstacker lol I think i'll probably get them in a month or so! Yes a lot of money for 2 ounces of silver that has a spot price around £17.50 an ounce at moment I got the Una and lion first one at £180 thinking that was a rip off then missed the next two and got the Petition crowns last time which were about £565 or so 🤔
@@adyamski that's the other thing, the mint will happily take your money today and then make you wait 6 weeks before they send anything out. Such a bad business model. That's also the other thing, for what in metal terms is about £36 you are paying 8 times the price for the mint to put it in a fancy box 🤣
