Ive tried a couple of these grill house kebab products! It wasnt anything special but it was ok.. i didnt bother with garlic sauce either,i had the donna burgers too, again nothing special but ya have to try these new items. Good review 👍
Fantastic achievement giving up the ale for 3 months Gareth. I did the same from January to Easter this year. I'm back on the ale, but only drink about half as much, so it's worth doing for health reasons and saves a lot of cash. I bought several different bags of frozen chicken strips from Iceland a few months ago and they were all terrible, so I avoid the place now and stick to Aldi, Lidl and Sainsburys It's a real shame you don't have a Lidl near you, their meat is top notch.
I've always passed on these when I used to shop at Iceland but I did try the donor meat which is exactly the same as the king donor meat I've also tried every flavour rib they do and all were fatty, gristly and just horrid cheap cuts of ribs
That garlic sauce looked like a Bull's semen sample ! Apart from that you needed a few veg in the pita breads and sliced one long side and open and fill the interiors with meat and veg and sauce. Great review as always. Andy 73's M6APJ
I've not been to Cyprus, but visited Greece and the islands many times. If the souvlaki is anything to go by (that I remember being incredible) then you are missing nothing!
Another great review mate. Honest and to the point. After watching your video? I can say that I wouldn’t buy this. The portions were not really enough for two. The chicken did fill the pitta bread, but not enough room left for adding a bit of salad, like sliced onion and tomato etc. Far better to buy a couple of large pitta breads and a couple of chicken fillets and make your own. The garlic sauce didn’t do it for me. But then again I prefer a lemon and lime in mayo sauce for a chicken kebab. I know you like to promote local businesses. But about 2 to 3 weeks ago I went to my local Kebab Shop and had a chicken Kebab. It went into the bin after the first mouthful🥴. And that was £6.95. Sadly in this day and age people have less time to cook and shop for ready meals. But in some cases, like kebabs, they can be made quickly and economically at home. All the best mate.
It serves 2. Remember your diet lol. I've had them and they were nice. I did add lettuce and tommys and red onion. All helped add to the meal. It does need chips though. Another great video. Also I'm on a diet too and struggling after seeing your videos. I just want to try everything lol.
It serves 2?; if it serves 2 then it must be marketed at Anorexics, as I can devour a extra-large chicken kebab made using chicken breast strips marinated in hot chilli sauce for which I pay £12 at a kebab shop.
I bought the Donner and Chicken.I thought the meat was terrible i threw them out .The amount of fat in the chicken is shocking !I think you will like the spice level though.Lets see what you think.
You know what I think I will just give this a complete miss.... If you are going to faff around making a fakeaway kebab then just go whole hog, marinate and grill some chicken breast cubes, buy some proper Pitta bread then toast them. Make a salad too bung inside them and drown the finished product in whatever mouth destroying sauce you want... It is going to be nicer, healthier and you also know exactly what you are eating :-)
Yes by the looks you could do far better making one from scratch. We are pretty spoiled for sauces now so so its a bit of chicken and a standard pitta. It does look like it could use some sort of salad with it mind to help with slippage. But again we are forewarned ty :).
You don't even have to make it from scratch. In the same freezer is the bag of chicken shawarma meat. Massive bag 750g. Really good it is. The. Just buy a bag of wraps or a bread of your choosing
Fantastic review as always Gareth. I agree that is definitely a serves one portion! I love Crucials chilli sauce! They also do an extra hot one. Have you tried Crucials Yoghurt and mint sauce? Its brilliant with hot curries and poppadoms.
Anything that has that many ingredients has to be avoided like the proverbial plague. I really can't understand why people buy this stuff and then complain they're broke. As others have said...buy a chicken, some pittas, a lettuce and toms probably £3 the lot (1.1Kg chicken £1.99 at farmfoods)
You should maybe consider doing cheap meals from scratch, i get its a review channel but i think you have the following for it. Cheap mince, onion bit of tomato paste and herbs make a cheap spag bol
Interesting review Gaz but not for me I don’t like chicken leg meat but the chilli sauce is 10/10 the garlic and chilli one is good too plus they sell it in our favourite shop Aldi and it’s on offer as well 👏👏👍👍
Hi Gareth.. I bought the Aldi Cod in beer batter today and just finished one off for my tea and I have to say it was very nice… I also bought the Aldi frozen apple strudel and had it after the fish which was really tasty! 👍🏻
Hi Gareth. Aldi has a gastro chicken Kiev range. Roosters Cranberry and Brie and Roosters gravy and stuffing chicken Kiev. Might be worth a review if you haven’t done them already.
have Iceland changed owners , as seem to be selling rubbish these days, and expensive, I worked there over 35years ago, when left school, met the 2 owners, and they took pride in what they sold
I got some of that hot stuff from aldi and it's not 3bad but I wish I could get some of the stuff they have in some takeaways that has the seeds in that stuffs lethal but nice 👍
Had this for me tea Gareth! Ugh! I'll stick to me chippy. Chicken was slimy and all I could taste was overpowering garlic, even without the garlic mayo. Just bland and garlic. When I use garlic it's to boost the other spices, not to drown them out. It's a no from me. X😊
Shawarma tastes abit bland to me, apart from that they dont look bad. I like those types of flatbread, and it wouldnt be hard to spice the chicken up abit.
@RedHeadNINTY9T9 totally agree, the nandos range is a disappointment...I think encona have stayed true to the recipe and kept the quality...all these other ones are not up to scratch! You know what, gonna get a coupla bottles to stick in the cupboard!! 🤣
Gareth love watching your channel as an Ex servicemen myself but you need to get out more and show your subscribes local foods where too go if they are in your area not just look say I've been to Iceland and this is what I got. And so on and so on. All i do when watching your channel is see what you've bought and fast forward to the review.
Hi there any chance you could do more comparison videos . I’d like you to show some different steaks , lamb chops and more cheap brands against branded goods. Many thanks . Steve from Windsor
The trick with these kebab meats they’ve got in Iceland is to let them defrost then put them in a bowl with a few drops of water Then cover and cook for 1 minute. Stir it then give them another 60-90 seconds and they come out amazing. The meat is already cooked so only needs a defrost. Don’t buy the meal kit ones and get your own fresh flat breads and sauces. The donner one is perfect
After your review it's not for me, i will make my own with more meat and the salad for less than you paid. They dont seem to give enough thought to these meal kits. Thankyou Gareth for your thoughts on this. Have you finished with the ale for good ? 😢
That looks ok Gareth but, its hit and miss with those breads. It looks like the consistency of chewing gum and its a bit pricey as well for the amount you get. More of a snack mid evening watching telly than a main meal. Fried onions and well as lettuce would fill them out a bit too.
im not a fan of naan's and pittas as they are either too soft and doughy or like a hide chew stick , i prefer a tortilla wrap but as they only sell them in 8s or more i dont bother as i dont want 4 days of kebabs . if you could freeze wraps and easily split them (rather than trying to peel 4 layers of wallpaper) id start doing my own kebab meat just as a monthly treat. and gaz are you doing (or have done) a review of the hot sauce in this vid ? , as im a wimp on hot sauces and my local chippy had this and i tried it (once) it had imho flavour but heat but it wasnt just hot for the sake of being hot and was the upper end of what i can stand if i remember rightly.
Ill buy a fresh chicken season it up myself because they charge you for the convenience of cooking it for you.some pittas from aldi or Lidl and your looking at under a fiver .

Damn this one got past my veto. You didn't say it was from that rip off shop in the title. Anyway I may have clicked on it but as soon as you mentioned that place I paused it to write this and now I'm leaving. Please mention if they are Iceland so I can avoid. Or I will just have to avoid all of your posts.
