I've switched from Gibson to Epiphones mainly due to cost and I have no complaints!

Had mine about a year. Tweaked the intonation, neck relief, and action just a smidge. Plays great, perfect intonation and tuning stability. She's a keeper for sure.

I have that same guitar since 2021 and I love everything about it. I had the Gibson in my hands and I didn't notice many differences except for the price. Their sound and touch was the same, the differences are noticeable in the fingerboards that are rosewood. Epiphone the best guitar brand for the price.

The Les Paul Special is still the most underrated instrument in the guitar universe.

Congrats !! Nice pick !!!! First player i think of when i see these LP Sp's is Derringer's Danny Johnson. He was a good player. man, i usually comment early on in vids but i had to watch this clean thru. I agree Epiphone is rocking it now. I bought a '20 LP Jr that i had to wait for thru SW but no complaints. I love it ! Took delivery of an Epi IBG Firebird about a week ago. Its amazing !!! Build quality is great on a guitar that was complex to make. I wanted one a year and a half ago when i first saw them. Turned 65 Memorial Day Weekend and a gift from family made it happen. Still can't believe it ! Also have a Jay Turser JT55 PTR, a sorta wobbly SG Special i got for $249 'new' (dried sweat on it) when i turned 50. The closest axe i have to get that '70s Johnny Winter tone when both pickups are on. I Love P90s. Lou Reed "Sweet Jane", Both Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner used dc LP Specials thru HiWatt's. Sounded good ;) Rock on and I hope your Son's doing well. edit,,,,i know you have something for the LP S's finger board but i just gave mine a dose lemon oil (i've used this for like 30 years or more). Works great ! btw, '06 LP Std plus and '10 G400 (my second, sold the first) here....I'm a fan :)

Saw it on the cover of a UK guitar mag in early 2020 and pre-ordered one immediately. Covid was in full swing and the wait was excruciating but worth it. I've been playing guitar for 40 years and it's the closest I'll ever get to a Gibson Les Paul. Not that I'm complaining. I learned to mod cheap guitars out of necessity back in the '80s. Now I can't justify wasting money on a freaking headstock logo. Epi for the win!

I got my 2000 Gibson Les Paul Special for $550- w/hsc, but that was almost 20 years ago - you can still find them for under $1,000. That said, this Epiphone Special seems as good as the Gibson version, maybe the wood isn't as good, but if it sounds and plays like a Gibson who cares?

My bandmate has this guitar. I have a 1952 Goldtop, an R9, 335 plus multiple Teles and Jazzmasters and Strats. I used this guitar for SEVERAL tracks on all 3 of our records. Bang for the buck its hard to beat. I had turned into a cork sniffer I stand corrected

Bro although I'm impressed with the Epi LP Special, I hit the Subscribe button because of the Be Bop Deluxe, Modern Music album in your rack. Shame not too many know about this incredible band. And Bill Nelson is one great guitarist.

If you want to know if the "lightning" pattern to the tailpiece does anything (compared to the plain Gibson tailpiece), check out the angle the 2022 Gibson Special uses on the plain tailpiece vs. the Epiphone tailpiece with lightning pattern is mounted straight - perpendicular to the neck. So the lightning pattern IS the innotation.

I have a 2009 Epi 50th Anniversary 59 LP (limited to 1959 total). It came stock with the same pickups the Gibson version had - Burstbucker 2 and 3. I paid $1,000 for it then, and I appreciate it as much, if not more than my 75 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe (refitted with Burstbucker 2 and 3 as well) Even the lower end EPIs are wonderful guitars. I do believe they shine with better pickups tho. The $1,000 range EPI LPs and wonderful!!! I have a couple of Gibson and a couple of EPI LPs. I love them all. IF I HAD to part with any, I would keep the EPI 2009. It's that good!!

I have this same guitar. As far as the p90s are concerned, they are just about as good as the Gibsons. I’ve heard them side by side and the difference is so slight as to be almost impossible to distinguish between them. But sure, if you want to, you can rout the bumps off to fit the Gibsons.

I own this guitar and I wouldn’t change a thing , those pickups are fine unless you’re a cork sniffer. Trust me , L leave it original and down the road you’ll be glad you did. Mark my words.

You’re gonna hate my next video then… 😂. I tell you I am not a cork sniffer lol. I mod all my guitars, not because I don’t like what they are originally, but because I like the thrill of it, kind of like model building. It’s a sickness. You’ll be very surprised what I did to this thing haha.

This won't be answered but I'll ask anyway: Are any of the modern celebrity branded guitars ever going to have value years from now with collectors? For example, a Steve Vai Gem Ibanez stuff or any 'custom' .
@joecoach7268

I think so - I think we are swamped with sig models now, many of which probably wont carry through - but there are some special ones (in my opinion). EVH Frankenstein, Zakk Wylde Gibson Bullseye, Slash Snakepit Gibson, one of the Vai Jem models will come through, Hettfields Iron Cross ESP and Dave Grohls 335 just to name a few. Which do you think will stand the test of time and popularity?

Epiphone 1873 Gibson incorporated in 1902 and since you all like saying made in China all of you need to tell people who's actually in the Qingdao facility and that Gibson/Epiphone owns the Qingdao Epiphone facility...and why you're it at take a good look who plays Epiphone past and present..

Even el cheapo guitar companies at least provide a gig bag. Not Epiphone, though. You get the cardboard box that it came in. Kinda chincy. I'm considering the SG Special (p90) but this is a real sticking point. I don't understand it. But then with Gibson, I've learned to say "shit in my face again; you missed last time". I bought my first SG Special in 1969, sold it in 1970 and have been trying to replace it ever since! I'll probably just give in and get it.

IMHO you'll most likely be sorry if you try to relic a poly finish guitar. I've seen many attempts to do that and it just doesn't look good. Leave the finish alone and just put the Gibson P90s and hardware in and leave well enough alone!

Epiphone Custom Modern figured prophecy Crestwood Models all high end guitars I will never buy a Gibson again as long as these Epiphone models exist Epiphone have been making high end models since 2019 and the 2019 Epiphone exclusive deluxe limited Run g400 pro Sg Honeyburst has become a collectable I paid $650 for a 2019 and well worth the price..American Master Builder Scott Lewis and his American luthiers over at the Qingdao Epiphone facility are the best and the Asian luthiers too...Epiphone/Gibson owns the Epiphone Qingdao facility and the land it sits..

Oh man, don't put that circuit board in the guitar. Get a decent 50's style loom and good linear pots and release the potential of the guitar. Those boards are dreadful. The spawn of the devil. Even Gibson have stopped using them!
@TheGuitarHistorian

I feel like whenever Gibson or Fender tries to innovate in any way, the purists will immediately tell you it’s a sacrilege. Like when they tried to do robotuners. The guitar industry is literally the only industry not allowed to utilize new technology. It’s an electronic signal through metal wires, bud. Kind of hard to mess up. I would bet that in a blindfold challenge you would not be able to tell the difference between a guitar using a PCB board or a hand wired.
