Here’s another tip - hold the spring with your pliers and heat the spring tip with a lighter for a few seconds. The spring will penetrate the bait immediately and once you have the spring started, it will screw into the bait.
A bare weighted hook (without spring lock to begin with) can be used like this with a drop of super glue at the head to hold it to the hook shank......works great!
I tried using these lures last week. I was having trouble rigging them so I used a different lure instead. I’m going to give them another try using this rigging method. Looks like it’ll work better. Thank you for all the informative videos.
That modification (sliding the weight forward) will cause the lure to desend at a steeper downward angle; preferred for shrimp lures. If using this modification for minnow lures (sliding the weight forward), add a 1/16 oz pinch-weight near the rear of the hook's shaft, to balance the weight, to achieve a more natural gliding decent.
