i'm french and not afraid to say it: shame on the french crowd for booing and most importantly for disgustingly disrespecting such a beautiful, important and ancestral tradition. that was sickening.
God damn it, nobody understood the reaction from the crowd. when a rival team comes to your land and do a war dance while saying "Ki runga ki te rangi e tu iho nei (Our supremacy will triumph)", it's a fucking provocation. The crowd responded to this provocation, in the perfect way. They booed between the verses, showing that they know the haka, and that they respect it. They even applauded at the end.
I think the booing from the crowd added to the atmosphere . Coming from a New Zealander and a Maori , I don't think the crowd has to be quiet during the Haka , they can do whatever they want , we are playing in there country !
The Haka is a great rugby tradition. It does however give an unfair mental advantage to the All Blacks. Anyone who loves rugby knows that the Haka is a warrior song, a challenge, especially this version which has very aggressive gestures. It is a time to spruss up your feathers and make yourself look big and mean and wild. It is a way to enter into battle. It is normal and welcome that opposing teams and fans react and respond, either by booing, chanting, standing their ground. The worst reaction would be to dismiss it and just say "oh look, there are those cute rugby players doing their cute cultural thingy. How amusing. Let me get a selfie." Booing the Haka shows that you're taking rugby seriously and that you're not just going to the game like you would go to the opera. The outcome has a meaning to you. Of course, after the final whistle, every one will go and have a beer together and embrace opposing fans and players in sincere camaraderie. THAT is the spirit of rugby.

+Maxime Etluinon If you watch the ABs haka against Tonga at the 2011 RWC you can clearly see that Tonga was just as affected by the haka as NZ were. Granted, they did a haka of their own first but both teams were equally pumped. Was great to see!

Tkaye White It's not a sign of disrespect to sing over it. The haka is a challenge. The crowd is merely singing its defiance, as well as encouraging its own team. No all black player ever moans about that
I was not there, but it is quite possible that booed, being a grudge about World Cup 2011. When the French were qualified for the final without practice a beautiful game, New Zealand had lynched the French, saying they didn't deserve to play the final. But in the final, France was much better than New Zealand. New Zealand won only because they were very realistic, while the French had a total domination of the game. It may be a response to New Zealand won the final of the World Cup against France in the same way they had criticized the French to win the semifinal. However I always had great respect for the haka and despite the context I find very sad the attitude that had the public.

Some French that i've meet are extremely rude, no matter what the situation. I'm not saying all but the ones that i have encountered have been. Don't worry booing is nothing compared to what the Welsh did to the All Blacks.
kapa o pango is used since 2005. against big rivals cause is way more intimidating than ka mate, this is a real warriors haka, and certanly is not "NEW"
HAKA is not a challenge but a way that we are showing our respects and welcome hands for opponents. Unfortunately these arrogant hens just don't understand that. Shame on u.
Alex Li ahhh it can be a challenge aswell, especially this haka. I’m maori and am not very fluent at speaking our language but i’m pretty sure they are challenging the opposition in an english translation
They should be booing it's a fucking warrior song. They're challenging them on their own turf. It's only natural for the fans to reply.I think it's even embarrassing for the Maori when they're cheered after a proper Haka. It's like they've not been taken seriously.
maybe it wa trhe crowd misunderstanding the action where the palm of the hand is slapped into the bicep of the other arm... looks a lot like the coarse sign for get stuffed/fucked or however you would like to call it, but notice the booing started when that bicep slapping started
Le public français est vraiment hautain! Ils ne respectent aucune traditions et se mettent à siffler sans aucun respect de l'adversaire et ils se permettent de s'indigner lorsque la marseillaise est sifflée. Les français (du moins ceux qui sifflent dans le stade) prenez exemple sur les américains qui eux applaudissent même si ils se font largement dominé et battre par leurs adversaires en fait qu'elle prenne exemple sur les italiens anglais sud africains australiens... sinon que la marseillaise soit sifflée le plus longtemps possible!
houss awa Espèce d'abruti, il siffle pendant les moments de creux pour faire passer le message on est chez nous aux kiwis, mais dès qu'il reprend le chant le silence revient en signe de respect. Il y a une véritable rivalité entre nos deux équipe, avec une histoire dans les coupes du monde dramatique, mais il y a du respect. Trop dure sûrement, pour l'être francophobe que tu es, de comprendre une foule. Même les black eux même, le disent que le peuple français les respectent, mais vu que tu es une personne malsaine.....

Are you serious, the haka is a challenge and the home players and crowd have accepted it, it is unfair that the Kiwis can pump themselves up, if the opposition crowd want to do it that's their choice, it really gets in the kiwis head when they can't hear themselves do it.

If there is a reason for someone to "act against it" then it should be the rival team, not the fans. The Haka is not ment to offend peoole, even less the insult the rival fans, are you serious? Okay well I'm just going to say, this was the most disgusting sportsmanship I've ever seen! What's up with the French these days. The All Blacks do the haka for a really good reason... It's tradition, not to show off and get the ladies! Being booed down in front of a whole crowd is the most stupid thing anyone could ask for! I could tell on Liam's face that he was so disgusted on their fair play. Nor should the opposite team shouldn't be smiling for a reason either. It's tradition. It's respect to their country. And it's certainly respectful towards Maoris to!!
Thats not the point. To receive the haka is very honourable so them to witness it live is special. The fact people stay quiet means they accept the challenge without getting too ahead of themselves and quickly move onto the situation at hand. We have seen many times before crowds or players respond to the haka to only get whipped by 50 pts. Them responding gives more incentive to NZ to whip teams by even more.
