I bought a new handlebar mounted toolbag for my Indian Chief Motorcycle. In this video I'm testing to see if it can also offer some wind protection.

Old-school look. I like it.

Yes, very traditional. Can't beat that classic look.

I liked the look of my tool bag hanging below the headlight and above the guard on a Harley Iron I had some time ago. Is there room for it in that place on the Chief, Paul? Or is there nothing secure to strap it to?

I did check Popeye, but the mudguard would come up and smack into it over a decent size bump.

Have you considered floor boards? I have the mini apes and floor boards and it makes this motorcycle AMAZING! Never been more comfortable on a motorcycle. I have the 2023 Chief Dark Horse Sagebrush Smoke. Thanks for the assist on the mini-apes, this transformed my Dark Horse!

My Springfield has floor boards. Life-changing!

Cheers Ian. I haven't really considered the floorboards. I have tried them out, sitting on the Super Chief Limited but I think I'd prefer the forward controls on this bike. Definitely food for thought though.

Paul l fitted an Arlen Ness forward control extension kit on the Springer as l was getting bad pain with existing controls. It came with braided lines and totally changed the bike. Like the tool bag as reminiscent of the days of Easyrider the movie.

Cool! Yeah, I think it's only a matter of time for the forwards Steven. You'll have to send me some pics of this Springer. :) bil.channelcontact@gmail.com

Great video, I wonder if I may ask if the feet forward dont put you in a position that your lumber spine takes all the impact from the road, opposed to mid controls where your legs can help brace your body for bumps? Thank you
@BikesILike

Typically that would be the case. Although I think the Chief's suspension is good enough where this wouldn't be so much of an issue. Plus the forward control option is not as far forward as on some other bikes.

Mine is home to my visor cleaner. They bounce around and wear down paint so keep headlight contact apart. How's your neck holding up no screen? Trashed my neck muscles on a windy ride think I need a screen to go with my age...

I'm doing ok so far Leif, I live in a windy area. A really long ride will be the real test though.

Was that "fluttery" hair or air under the chin, Paul?😉 Looks a neat solution to carrying those small bits n pieces problem. I don't see any tassles though, lad.......mebe in the future, eh🙃??? Cheers BIL! By the way, it's summer here in the UK and not dissimilar to the weather you're getting there. Popeye.👍

I've done the same with a tool bag on my sup chief, does well to deflect the wind off me. As for storage items I keep a bucket hat spare clear/tinted glasses a stubby holder a wipe cloth/ snotrag and a bottle opener.
