Hi Stephan, Thanks for enjoying my posts. I'm a hobbyest. Though I've loving restored, then sold, hundreds of clocks, lately I just haven't had the time. I truly believe, when I work on an old clock, that I am preserving a valuable piece of history. Generally, I've put them on eBay and sold them all around the world. Presently, the ones still in my midst are special, and I'd probably never sell them. However, I do have a garage filled with clocks - some of them chime clocks, similar to this one. One day soon, I hope to get back to my tinkering, and when I do, eBay and Craigslist are likely where I'll post them. I assume from your question, that you are new to antique clocks... In which case, I would suggest you buy one on eBay, from a seller with plentiful and excellent feedback, specializing in clocks, who has just serviced the clock. You may "pay up" for it, but then again, nothing is less of a value than a cheaply purchased clock that needs work. :)

Did you wind up the chiming spring and the striking spring? The striking train is above and to the left of the time spring. Clocks like these New Haven clocks use an 8-day movement, so for these clocks, you wind the clock ONCE EVERY SEVEN DAYS. If you did wind the clock up, make sure you have the clock on CHIME mode and not SILENT mode. SILENT mode prevents the clock from chiming and striking by possibly raising the chime hammers off the chime rods. If you have done those two, and the clock still doesn't chime, I suggest you go to a clock repair shop.

I have it working just fine now. I am still trying to regulate the speed. I don't know which way to turn the pin to speed it up or make it slower.

In this case, moving it left would make it slower, and moving it right would make it faster.
