Thanks to UglyBob for sending these over for review, they are such good prices I also bought another of the 8/9 port units.
Already in testing my home network is more stable and even the livestreams are experiencing less lag and buffering. How long that will last is anyone's guess, but for now I am very happy with these.

Absolute bargain from AliExpress, and delivered within a WEEK ! Pleased they are proving useful......2.5G is the way forward so hopefully stuff like this will help bring down the overall costs of other suppliers. Thanks for the video, Mike and Kath 🙂

thank you! It has made a significant difference to the stability of the network for some reason. and the actual chassis is much much cooler in operation due to the low power draw

we are somewhat lucky here with a 1gb connection, and the offer of 2gb coming soon. But most of the UK is still around 10-20mb speeds

Hello Mike, nice job covering these switches. 2.5gbe running flawlessly on my small home network. Can you also advise which SPF+ modules would be compatible for the 10gbe uplink ports?

pretty much any SPF+ modules will be okay but make sure they are matched at both ends if linking switches together

The 4 port model could also be used as the midpoint in a SFP chain, and you can get SFP to RJ45 modules, but price increases rapidly with speed, making it uneconomic to add an extra 2.5G port, while all in one SFP module - fibre - SFP module cables are remarkably cheap. 10G RJ45 SFP modules are available, but horrendously expensive. Why do you need / want 10G between them? Well lets say you had two 2.5Gb NAS servers on one side and two 2.5Gb clients on the other, both could pull full throuhput without being limited by the aggregate link. Don't have 2.5Gb on your system? Aliexpress has you covered at under a tenner for a PCIE card - 1x slot or a USB3 or USB C solution

i think the end to end plugs will be needed to be installed here at some point. trying to work out how to route them up from the floor to the walls without trunking and without chiselling out a load of brickwork

Intresting we went from 1Mbit, to 2.5Mbit to 10Mbit, to 100MB to 1000MB with in like 2 decades. And now a quarter century later finaly we getting away from 1Gbit

@@mikesunboxing I wouldn´t quite put that to mores law. When we was going from 10Mb to 100Mb it was relay needed for remote disc access When going from 100Mb to 1000Mb it was needed fore some specific task like remote desktop. Now when streaming video is the dominating task, most of the content is pre compressed. 1000BaseT had a pretty quick adoption rate. the Base 2.5G have existed for a while. But there really been very low adoption. I use to work at a telecom manufacturing company And while we used RJ45 for everything up to 1G. Everything above was exclusive to a 16 pin shielded connector. We got to 40G on copper when i worked there in 2015.

Port sfp is auto negociate is 2.5 Gbps ? Or negociate only 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps?

Don't forget this isn't just for internet but also internal network too. If you have servers/ services at home, the extra throughput might be needed

that is a possibility, but it would be on the inside of your network so your firewall on the PC and router should block anything that might want to escape
