Is there any chance I could contact you (email?), I'm interested in this series tractor but have been warned NOT to attempt to plow (I have a 3 bottom plow) with a hydrostatic transmission. However, you seem to have no trouble. I'm very interested in your experience and have other questions as well. I'm in Ohio (USA). Thanks in advance, Rick
@@dutchhorseguy7145 Is there a way to send you my email address privately? I prefer not to post it publicly for the world to see. I hope you understand.
@@dutchhorseguy7145 I see we share the same concerns. Until we can figure out a way to exchange emails (addresses) without letting the entire planet know, I hope you won't mind me asking some of the questions here. Here's my question to New Holland here in the States (Kubota already said don't try this): _I currently own a 70’s vintage Case (David Brown) 990 tractor. It is a 50 hp, 2WD, 12 speed gear drive tractor that I can easily pull an 80” rototiller or a 3 bottom - 14” plow tilling approximately 10 acres of clay soil. However, I now need a tractor for a certain operation (a hand planter requiring extremely slow speeds with frequent stopping but little power) and the Boomer series tractor with HST would meet that need. However, other brand tractor dealers tell me that their 45 - 60 hp HST tractors cannot handle my other equipment, i.e.; the plow or the tiller (I’ve been told the HST & hydraulic oil would overheat and/or the tractor simply cannot deliver enough torque to the wheels with these implements). Are any of the NH HST tractors capable of using my 3 bottom plow or 80” tiller for working 10 acres of clay soil? If so, what is the minimum size or model HST tractor you recommend?_ It looks like your plow is a NH brand plow which are not available here. It looks like it's slightly smaller than my 3 bottom 14" (about 36 cm between each bottom or share) Ford Series 130 plow. I plow to about a depth of 20 - 25 cm in heavy clay soil. Is this similar to you? About how large of an area did you plow? What was your experience with the Boomer 50? *Did you have any issues with overheating, pulling power, or traction when plowing?* I see you sold the Boomer. Was there anything you disliked about it?
@@rickelga Hi Rick, it is hard to say but I am afraid that a larger plow on heavy soil might be just too much for the Boomer 50. We are on sandy soil and my plow is about 90 cm / 35" wide. At 20 centimeters / 8" depth it was about the maximum the Boomer could pull. Of course I did not have R1 tractor tires but Galaxy garden pro but I don't think that will make it up. There is quite a big power or torque loss in the HST. There is no comparison to a 50HP stick shift tractor, that will pull a lot more for sure. My corn field is a about 2 acres, no problems what so ever with overheating, just keep the revs up that will make the oil flow and give it a chance to cool off. I liked the Boomer very much but we got a little babygirl whom I wanted to take along in a safe way so I needed a tractor with a large cab. If you need very slow speeds, consider a stick shift with creeper option.
