Not a lot of info or videos of the newer New Holland Boomer compact tractors so I thought I would help out with this video.

This was a great review of this tractor. Question- After another half year or so down the road, do you wish you would have got the 50 hp engine? I’m guessing you will say no, but was curious what if anything you see you might be giving up? And if you don’t mind, one more question. What type of run time do you typically get on a tank of fuel? Thanks!
@w8bya
@w8bya Год назад
Hi there Barry and thanks for your questions. They are good ones. Thus far I have not run into one situation where the tractor was starving for more power. I think with a HST that somewhat helps disguise the need. If it were a geared tractor maybe I would notice it but with this hydro I have not. It is a small brute and I have never wished it had more HP. Matter of fact I normally do everything at 2k RPM or less. Never had a need to run it even close to wide open. As far as run time.....that's a tough one as I have never run it hard longer than about 4-5 hrs at a time (digging and moving tons of clay etc). If I had to guess I think it would run at least 8-9 hrs working hard. A little more if just doing lighter work. Hope that helps.

Thanks for getting some needed New Holland info on the internet. I looked at some LS tractors & decided to go with NH Boomer 45 also. Some people say their the same, but there are considerable differences, better overall support, financing, and the loader built by NH is hands down better! Man that loader can stack my round bells higher & clear my dump trailer with ease. I would like the rear hydraulic lever that the LS offers. I do have the third function & a top n tilt for the rear hydraulics and that's where the back hydraulic lever would be nice. Added led lights all around, amber strope light. Love this tractor! Thanks again!
@w8bya
@w8bya Год назад
Ken, really glad the video helped out. That rear hydraulic lever really would be sweet. I have LED light bars ready to install but am going to wait for warmer weather. Unlike my Boomer 40 light bars I picked bars not as long but that had more vertical rows so I won't loose any lumen output. The shorter bar will fit between the OEM work lights and let me keep them. I plan to aim them more to the sides. In the end between the middle light bar and the 2 OEM work lights I should be able to light up a huge area. I hope you post some videos soon !

I bought the exact tractor in April this year as well. These tractors can do just about anything with all of the attachments. I bought the backhoe, auger, tiller, box blade, rake and forks. I've moved several hundred cu/yards of earth also, I have the 72 inch wide bucket and ballast filled rear tires.

@@jhandy4161 That's awesome. I am glad the videos helped out. I do not have the fancy go-pros and other cameras that a lot of the other guys do so my videos are definitely "very amateurish" in comparison. I wish I had a camera mounted on the tractor as I was doing the actual work. For me that is some of the funnest part to watch & learn from. Hard to hold a camcorder in my left hand, steer & work the loader with my right hand :-) Hey, what state are you in? NE Indiana here.

Does that windshield wiper motor cover hinder your view out the front windshield?
@w8bya
@w8bya 7 месяцев назад
I never really thought about it so I think the answer is no. Most of the time since I use the FEL a lot I am looking more downwards. I thought of this after I posted my reply.....the one thing that ticks me off is they did not add a wiper delay or a speed setting ! When there is just a light drizzle having the wiper run back and forth nonstop drives me nuts.

Thanks for the great video. Not too many of them out there. I'm looking to buy a Farmall 45C which looks identical to the Boomer 45 and the one thing that worries me is the relatively low output capacity of the implement hydraulic pump which is only 8.2 Gal per minute. Other similar tractors have much greater hydraulic pump capacity, especially the Massey Furgeson. Do you have any issue performing two actions at the same tie with the loader (lift and rotate at the same time)? How is the speed at which you can activate the loader? Thanks. Pat
@w8bya
@w8bya Год назад
Thanks for the comment. The loader hydraulics control (in the cab) do not allow simultaneous lift and curl operations. I wish it did the way my original TC25D with a Great Bend loader could. The controller was a true joy stick type and I could move it at any angle. It was great. This one is up/down only then curl in/out later. I could change out the loader controller but it is what it is and I live with it. As far as fluid volume goes I have not noticed any lack of speed lifting or dropping the loader under load. Usually when I have a full load of dirt or clay etc I do not want fast operating anyway. It leads to jerking around which, when you have 1000-1500 pounds in the bucket can put a lot of stress on the loader. So for me I find it to be a non-issue. Hope this helps.

@@w8bya I'll say it is a sweet spot that you have to find the two functions. If I recall correctly the easiest way to find it is to not put the joystick fully in any one direction, so only partial raise and curl for example. This is where hydraulic flow can be a limiting factor.

I do like the look of the tractor, but the front-end loader does not look strong at all. It looks skinny and the bucket is to far a head of the tractor. I mean, I get it. You probably need the length of the loader in order to reach high enough. But still it looks weird to me.
@w8bya

Given a choice, for my needs, because I do not farm or raise livestock I would have preferred a FEL that did not stick out as far from a pure stability standpoint. But if you need to lift hay or feed high up into a loft or dirt high up over the side of a dump truck or trailer this FEL is a clear winner. It does let you have a good view of what is in front of you as well. But again, even with these pro's I would go with a shorter version. As far as toughness goes, I do not see it as weak or too thin. It is built with thick steel and welded good. Have a look at the specs for the 260 TLA and check it's weight. I have not had any issues moving many, many thousands of pounds of clay around or doing serious digging with it. Seems plenty robust for my needs.

@@jonathangoodman8726 I hope I am not being a pest asking this but do you remember how often your tractor did it's regens? Also how many hours do you have on your tractor? I know it will not be the same number of hours each time (between regens) but an approximate time between them would be helpful for me. Reason I ask is mine has started to do regens quite often now. I would say every 10 hours or so which is making me nervous about possible issues once it's out of warranty.

The wasted time and fuel to complete the Regens are the major downfall of these tractors. Every 4 hours the Boomer 37 does a Regen and it will take 30 minutes to complete.
@w8bya
@w8bya Год назад
That has not been my experience with the Boomer 40 I owned for 3 years and this new Boomer 45. Just this weekend I has hauling trees out of my tree line and the tractor hit 75 hours and started a programmed regen. The absolute only difference I noticed was the RPM increased a slight tad up to 2000 RPM and I continued about my work. At no point did I have to stop or slow down my work, I just kept working. The regen process was invisible to me and I did not have to waste any additional diesel. Now I suppose if I was not using the tractor hard and was just idling along then the higher RPM for 10-15 min would use more fuel but not for very long. This regen as well as the one at 50 hours took about 10 minutes, maybe 15 minutes max. Same was always true of my Boomer 40. NEVER had a regen take more than 15 min and they always occurred at programmed (regular) time intervals. I wonder if a higher Sulphur fuel could explain more frequent and irregular regen cycles. I only use very low Sulphur diesel that makes less soot.
@pc5569

That was the previous generation of New Holland made by Shibaura. Completely different engines and Regen function.
