Very well done. I've been waiting for this one for a while. I was born and raised in New Holland and moved to Canada back in 2009 from where I'm now watching this video. The public footpath in the dock just continues through the terminal, then around the back of a ship breaking yard and back on to the Humber bank where you can walk to Goxhill and beyond along the river. Same on the other side had you gone further up around that corner, you can carry on to Barrow Haven and then Barton etc. It's all a public footpath along the south bank of the Humber
As a young lad we lived in between Goxhill and Thornton Abbey in a railway property and I remember my parents had to open and close the gates when a train was due. We went on the ferry to Hull three times a week and I just loved watching the steam engine working. Marvelous days! 🚢⚓
Round about 1964/5 I cycled from Grimsby with my Farther Older Brother and Sister and Younger brother and an even younger Sister from Grimsby to Spurn Point travelling on the Humber Ferries Lincoln Castle and Tattershall Castle on the way back. I was about 7 yrs old at the time but can still remember those Paddle Steamers. Happy Childhood memories from 60 years ago. 👍
I now work at New Holland and found this very interesting also the Lincoln castle ferry is where my wife and I held our wedding day /night do 30 yrs ago when it was docked in Grimsby so was good to see pics of it again as I believe it’s no longer in Grimsby Thanks for sharing
