Got a set today, they feel pretty good. I love all my snap on pliers but the pistol grips is the one pair i dont have yet and for 20 bucks the icons are more than decent

Agreed. You cannot complain about the quality of these for the price. Glad to see you grabbed a pair.

I work in aviation maintenance, and tools are provided by the company). The Snap-on pistol grip pliers are my go-to tool for removing stuck screws. They will either grip and remove it or they will literally chew the head of the screw off (allowing me to remove panels, etc). They flex quite a bit, but, haven't broken yet. The Snap-ons are out of my price range so, I'll be picking up the Icons.

Thanks for the feedback on your work experience with the snap on’s. The flex had me a little bothered but that is to be expected for a 10” long set of pliers. I think you will like these as well!

Just grabbed a pair today. Didn't have the needle nose version in stock at my store yet. Always wanted a pair of snap on for my farm service truck box but wont put the 95 dollar snap on pair in there. These feel identical to those. Worth the 20 bucks easy!

Patents only last like 7 years i think. When those patents expire, anyone can "copy" anything. Capitolism man, any breakthrough new idea is only exclusive for seven years. Like you said, it benifits the consumer.
@thingsmen
@thingsmen 6 месяцев назад
How long have the snap on versions been around? I feel like it’s only been a short time.
@bigc7t
@bigc7t 6 месяцев назад
@@thingsmen that I do not know, but they my not even own the patent. The same will happen with some the exclusive knipex pliers. They will only be exclusive for so long. Like Klein selling there version of the pliers wrench. I think the Crescent tool company patented the original "Crescent Wrench" also the original " Vise-Grip"... Back when they first came out they where the only ones selling them. Granted it was long ago but same thing.
@nachoisme
@nachoisme 6 месяцев назад
I don’t know the exact formula but basically you have to pay more each year as a producer to keep your patent rights so at some point it just doesn’t make sense. (You also get time -maybe 7 years initially)
@DownHillgamer
@DownHillgamer 6 месяцев назад
Well when they are made in China like all hobo freight stuff they do not have to abide to any patent laws. Because snap ons triple slip joint pliers are still patented and yet harbor freight is making the two different pairs of them including the new needle nose ones
@bigc7t
@bigc7t 6 месяцев назад
@@DownHillgamer not that it matters but they are made in Taiwan, and I don't think it matters where its made. They would not be able to sell a product that was still protected by Federal Patented Law, they would be sued. I personally have nothing against any of the tool companies, but most people are not "professional" mechanics and are not going to be using there tools as much as a professional. They are going to use them 5-8 maybe 10 times a year to work around the house or fix there vehicle. $20 dollars for a set of decent pliers is about all I would spend, honestly it's about all I could afford, if you can afford snap on, go for it, I would not hold it against you, they make beautiful tools, I don't think anyone could argue that.
