Dustin. Thanks for the videos. I have a new to me original 5209 that works well. A NI 5209 mechanic went through it last year and all is good. Your video helped me to tackle the annual maintenance. As you suggest, job one was to purchase the maintenance manual. Cheers.
Good job! I am considering rebuilding my 5209. It leaks a little grease out the bearings/seals between gear boxes. A winter project! Thanks for posting your rebuild my friend. Cheers.
Excellent video. Longer is better for video so you can detail things. I have a turtle that has way to much play and am afraid of grenading it. Hopefully just bearings are tired.

Hi, I'd like to start off by saying. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Because it has helped me in diagnosing and doing repairs on my own 5209 cutter bar. I am in the process of repairing a broken shaft segment. And I'm wondering if you think that the shafts are hardened or if I could use a piece of shaft from the welding shop. Thanks
I’m not sure if the factory shafts are hardened or not, I just went to my local welding shop and they made me one out of regular hex shaft. I’ve been running the same shaft since I made that video with no troubles yet. If it starts to feel like there’s getting play I’ll just have another made and slide it in, it really didn’t cost that much I was surprised. Glad the videos helped!
The cutter bar is driven off the left side, the hex shaft goes into the gear box so maybe it broke the hex shaft or the gearbox has could have troubles in side not real sure I guess
Hmm sorry to hear that, I like mine but there are times that I think my old conventional haybine was better. Not as fast but less maintenance. Hope your able to get it going again
