I just received the new Analog Tachometer that was released this winter by Indian Motorcycles for the Scout, Scout Bobber, and Scout Rogue lineup. Here is the first time I got to take a ride with it installed, showing how the shift light works, hitting the rev limiter. For a good time, pause the video during the two 1st gear runs and compare how slow the digital tach is in comparison!

I’m really glad to see it can be easily mounted on the right. Every vehicle/motorcycle I’ve ever owned has always had the tachometer on the right. I think putting it on the left would really aggravate me way more than it should. It just catches my eye wrong. Good video, look forward to the install.

It's a bit pricey to just get one if you aren't 100%. I've been wanting a real tach since I picked the bike up almost a year and a half ago.

Thanks Jim, thanks for the vids. Yeah its super overpriced here in Australia, but Im installing the tachometer on my 2022 Bobber. For the tachometer and also because I like the way it looks with the extra dial. Not everyones cup of tea I know. 🇦🇺

Love the sound. What pipes do you have on it and are they slip ons. Sounds like they aren't too offensive...... Or are they. I live in the UK. And the laws are changing sometime soon as to decibel levels. But that sound is good.... Good vid and great gear changes by the way!!

Thanks so much! These are Hacker Mayhem, full exhaust, and they are loud but amazing! I don't have a sound level meter or anything.

@@Jimbobbington thanks for that. I'm looking for something I can slip on and off. Once a YEAR I'll need to put the stock pipes on to get the bike through it's Mot then slip the load ones back on. Thanks for help and quick reply. Ride Safe.

@@nickfarrell4265 oh man, that sounds like no fun! I used to have to do that every couple years with a car that had no catalytic converter. Hated it!

@@nickfarrell4265 maybe worth looking into the Jekyll and Hyde exhaust. It's really expensive, but it has electronic valves and you'd never need to take it off.

Nice to see it doesn’t suggest premature shifts but for me it’s definitely more of a farkle than anything, (I have underglow and simply because I like it not for added safety, point being I’m not hating). I might still get one down the road but it’s not at the top on my list of mods. Nice video and thanks for sharing.

You was talking about the USB port on the speedo, did this require you to remove that or disable the USB or access to the USB?

Usb is still fully functional and accessible with the tach mounted to the right. Working with the underside of the speedo was a pita because I didn't see an easy way to disconnect the USB, so the whole thing remains tethered real close to the handlebars.

Side note, are those the fastmask gloves? And if so what are your thoughts? Good for warm or cold weather?

Yes they are, ordered the custom turquoise color of course! I love them, they are the most comfortable gloves I've had, and they are warm enough even in 50 degree weather. I did a drunk glove review video of you want to check it out.

I think the timing the shift light is turning on could be adjusted in your tune. I could be completely wrong as I haven't gone through my settings in a good bit.

would have been cool if it went, Green, Yellow, Red, to shift... but it still works. I want to know what you think in 3 months. Was it worth it? I have been clutch-less shifting thanks to your video and I don't really worry about RPMs anymore.

Yeah I was kinda hoping for a tiered light like that too. At least yellow > red, but it'll do. I will follow up after some time with a review and let you know if it's worth it. Glad my video was able to add a skill to your repertoire!

@@Jimbobbington Yes sir, Sure did, I used to Clutchless shift up and down all the time on my first truck, a 1983 Toyota LR2 pickup. Never even crossed my mind that you could do it on a Bike!

Can you still access the usb charging port? I've never used it, but curious if you can have that on the right and still use it. Lol Also, thanks for not filling the video with fluff!

It's nice, I like it..but...its low and not really in view. Maybe the shift light is more noticeable in person but if I were running a shift light, kinda want it in my face.

You are right. I went for another ride yesterday and tried to see if I could see the shift light in my peripheral without looking at it, and I really could not. For some, that's probably a good thing, others not so much. For me, not yet sure how I feel about it 😅

Perfect! I'm trying to get as much info about it out so everyone can make an educated decision on whether or not it is worth it to them. There was zero info about it other than it existed. Definitely not trying to talk people into buying it, just getting info out!

It's not 1982 anymore. Let's move on to digital instrumentation please. Sorry boomer, your analog crap just looks dated and it's inferior no matter how much you "like analog things better". Although I gotta say the digital tach in this does suck, but companies need to move on digital instrumentation like what you've got on the Indian Chief, Harley Sportster S, or even what's on the Honda Rebel 1100.
