Exactly the method I tried but does not work very well with the stock exhausts as the lower shock bolt is behind the upper exhaust pipe/muffler. Also, I would suggest putting a block under the kickstand so the bike is as upright as possible and sitting with your full weight on the bike (feet off the floor) while measuring.
Wrong.. Take the damn dust cap off first, then clean the seal underneath. That was a waste of all of our time. How can there be riders that know so little about their machines?
Hi Are you still posting? just upgraded to this bike too From 650 suz blvd Had to change bars to fit me, still struggling with turns In researching tires on this bike found your channel Could this really be? Or do I still need more time to adjust I’m a small woman but not weak, not the heavyness but maybe I need more push? So I am gonna start lifting weights? Lol 😅
Hey Jim. Your videos are entertaining. I got a question for you. I have a ‘23 rouge and just ordered the Free Spirit forward control plates and the brake line extension (mine’s a non-abs). I didn’t see anything from you on that install… did you run into any issues? It looks pretty straightforward. Thanks
Bad ass bike! I love everything about it but the blue. The color just throws it off to me, but hey, it's your bike, and if you like it, who gives a shit!
Thanks, I really appreciate this. I too just bought a mid-range cruiser for the first time and am scraping the pegs like crazy. I didn't know how to handle it or what to think. Thanks for this!
Thats just the dust cover , that needs sliding up and the fork seal is just below , the tool wont be pentetrating beyond the fork seal spring therefore not cleaning the seal !
I don't understand the bike community. I'm just getting into the biking world and after seeing quite a few modification showcases for bikes I'm interested in I'm noticing most people basically only bedazzle their bikes with trinkets and I'm so disappointed. Where's the original spirit of guys tinkering and tuning their bikes to go faster and handle better. The most I see is an exhaust swap with an occasional air filter change. Where's all the camshafts, efi tuning, custom built exhausts, intake mods, and everyone who liked to "slap a turbo on that bitch" or even people adding custom mounts for utility stuff. Has the biker communities spirit mostly died recently or something?
I love this body style, but it's too small. Indian should keep this model but also make a bigger version. Call the bigger version the Scout and call this one the Squaw. Its a girl bike.
Hi, an easier way to do this on your own, is to put a cable tie around the shaft of the shock. Sit on it . Then measure the distance the cable tie moves on the shaft.
Thanks Jim, thanks for the vids. Yeah its super overpriced here in Australia, but Im installing the tachometer on my 2022 Bobber. For the tachometer and also because I like the way it looks with the extra dial. Not everyones cup of tea I know. 🇦🇺
You spent no time mentioning the Gilroy Indians produced from 1998 to 2003. AWESOME production. I had a 2001 Scout. Then the Kings Mountain Indians that ran after that and before Polaris purchased the intellectual property. Both of these companies produced motorcycles that deserve at least a proper mention.
Just had my first service done so went to the dealer. Service dept guy made me feel like an idiot when I asked if they could help adjust my shocks. I'm used to this being a female, most dudes think I have no idea how to even check my fluids but I knew the preload could be adjusted! He just kept trying to sell me piggybacks and telling me me "oh you have stock shocks, theres nothing to adjust". I'm a big girl and just wanted to see if they could help me with a little comfort! Thanks so much for this vid.
Funny how he says it’s easy yet if you watch and compare the video before and after the adjustment you see clear damage to the paint from the struggle 😂
