The newly refurbished Indiana Janes Adventure at Disneyland in Anaheim, California is open! We have a SIDE BY SIDE comparison of the beloved adventure attraction before and after it's lengthy refurbishment!
It has been completely (and brightly) re-lit with new impressive projection details! Rat-log is gone! New effects happen in the previously dark and boring tunnels underneath the Temple! And old friends and favorites like the giant cobra and rolling ball and moving walls of the climax effect are all functioning. Good job Disneyland!

While I wish that every single abandon effect (doors rotating, ice falling from ceiling, ropes on the bridge moving, etc.) were still working, I am still very happy with this refurbishment and am glad that they changed the weird rat-projection scene and have a working snake animatronic again. It also made me happy to see the finale boulder room working perfectly again :)

Well first of all the first one physically can’t be repaired without destroying to ride show building and rebuilding it. and with the doors, the mechanics snapped destroying the ceiling and the company who made it is out of business so it can be repaired.

Thank you Bob Iger! Chapek refused to listen to the fan’s pleas on fixing this ride, and now, the rat illusion is gone, the snake is fixed, new illusions make the in-the-dark sequence an improvement, and the boulder effect is working once again! I understand that all the illusions can’t be saved, but if the possibility of bringing back the different door illusions is possible, please make that a top priority in the future! Still an awesome refurbishment!!

@@Undrave I don’t even think they need to make the room wider, it could be easily done with projection mapping. Perhaps we’ll see that in the future!

@@FrankVelo The extra doors used for the moving door illusion probably still exist beyond the current walls. You could easily cover the doors with fine cloth so they become invisible with the right lighting.

The refurbishment needed for Indy was absolutely what this attraction desperately needed and it looks really great with the new effects I cannot wait to see this when I come back to the parks!

About the only things I think it still needs is more fog in the ride (especially the lake of fire in the main room), a touch up to the dart trap (it’s always looked like cheap cutouts rather than ancient stone walls), and a more subdued color pallet in the main show room as it looks weird seeing the things in it painted neon orange rather than letting the lights in the room do their thing.

Well there is definitely more light all the way through the attraction. They have done some long needed repairs, and brought back the big fat snake at the end! Definitely an improvement! Hopefully next time they will get everything working as it was originally, eventually!

We lived in Anaheim from 1976-1992... We still went back to Disneyland every year sometimes twice a year. Back then, Disneyland was amazing (very few people). Today, the crowds are disgusting (far too many humans there).

I used to work here believe it or not they arent break downs per say as much as it is people dropping their backpacks, ears, glasses, canes on the track. For safety when something is in the ride path the attraction has to be stopped. Hence the “breakdowns” , safety first haha.

Here’s the thing tho: as someone who has only been on this a few times (since almost every other time I’ve been to Disney either the line is too long or it’s broken XD), I was used to the snake not moving at all. If I went on it again now without knowing first about the refurbished snake, IT WOULD HAVE SCARED ME SO BAD LOL (not because I hate snakes but in a “oh crap that was never there before!!” way XD)

They increased (upgraded?) the light levels both in the queue and the ride right? I went a few days ago after the refurb and right before it closed in January. Everything (queue, ride) seemed brighter and this video support that - but I can’t tell if it’s just poor camera quality on the “before” video or not. The ride has been massively improved overall tho.

It seems like everything is almost fully restored. The giant snake animatronic seems to be fully functioning again, with extending fangs and all. Same with the boulder scene.

Mostly, but it feels more complete. No random section sitting in the dark. And everything looks better. I think as the scenery starts to age, they adjust the lights lower and lower. These are new fixtures in many cases for sure.
