i love Kentaro's honesty about how he almost never uses the loft and just sleeps curled up, it's an example of how when we see videos of small homes from the outside it looks uncomfortable but actually living there you might realize that you don't actually use all the space that you have, and all the "extra" space you think you need can just end up being useless or for storage
@diivze

Might have used it more if the ladder was steeper.
@PaulaMVera

@@amypola5903 well, we don't know his life, if he stays inside all day, if he goes on walks, exercises, maybe has some chronic pain that makes it painful to step up the ladder, maybe he is saving up for a bigger place.. pint is, we don't know what his situation is, we just saw a snippet of his life from the video and how he manages the space to make it comfortable for himself. What I meant with my comment was that sometimes we have more space the we use or need, more stuff, and we don't realize. For example, it made me think how I have a full dining room and living room and I never sit down to eat there or watch TV, I end up staying in my office all day, so why do I even have so much space if I don't use it? it's being wasted. it's interesting to think about the spaces we use, that's it lol

It's so interesting to see how they all used their spaces VERY differently! I liked the layout of the Misato's, but the forest theme of Kentaro. Keeping the ladder away to maximize space is what I'd do. It's funny, just one of those apartments could fit into my bedroom three times. Not even my whole house, just my bedroom, and it's not even the biggest bedroom in my house. I can definitely see the appeal of them, but they're not for me. I loved what Kentaro's done with all the artificial plants. It does certainly give his apartment a forest look. I wonder if he dusts or vacuums the leaves? But everyone you spoke to on this video have done great things with their spaces and made them very personal. I don't know if I could live in such a small space myself partly because I'd not want to have to reduce all my belongings so much, but for someone that's just starting out it's a good lesson in helping to avoid clutter.

@@jawaela Why do you care that I wondered?😂 The thing is, it's easy for plant leaves, whether artificial or real, to collect dust even if there's only one person living in that particular space. Dusting or vacuuming the leaves can be quite a therapeutic experience, because you can zone out of everything else for a while as you're doing it, plus, you end up with nice shiny plant leaves afterwards. If they're real plants it helps them to breathe better. If they're artificial it makes them look more realistic.

Also, it's really convenient for the first guy to get free food and access to the baths due to his job. It’s so nice that Misato’s dad comes all the way from Aichi to help clean her AC unit! I also liked her set up the best! The living space felt inviting! Kentaro’s plants were nice and his desk and gaming set up looks pretty comfy. But of all the three I think he’s under utilizing the space, esp the loft which admits he hardly uses and the bed is taking up a lot of space. He should get rid of the bed if he never uses and maybe store things or do something else with the space up there. Plus if he only goes up to loft once a week, he could totally move the ladder to the side like Misato did and be able to sleep more comfortable in the lower level. But typical man things lol 😂

it's cool seeing these apartments empty but it even's cooler seeing them actually in use. what they own n how they use the space really speaks to their daily lives n what they each value. hijiri's was the most appealing visually i really liked his minimalism, but kentaro was the most relatable n i loved his theme cause that made the room feel more cohesive.

As someone who lived in a tiny apartment last year (less than 150 square feet) and really wishes to go back, I really enjoy seeing how other people learned to live with their tiny apartments. I will admit my space was still bigger than these and had lots of built-in storage, so I was never as cramped as these ones were, but still seeing general ideas on how to decorate and utilize the space is really interesting! Tiny spaces are much more manageable for one person to deal with and take care of and helps keep your stuff to a minimum so I really love them! I just wish they were more common here in the US. Finding another tiny apartment in a good area will be a real struggle...

It's amazing to see how different people use the same space. I loved Kentaro's personalization with the forest theme, but then also i love Misato's storage!! Someone get Kentaro some shelves for that front area though, and get Misato an extendable duster for her ac lol. Hijiri pretty much has the perfect permanent hotel room lol.

I'm so curious what they're experiences (and everyone from the tiny home collection) were during Covid lockdown. They all said they're rarely home, but what was life like when they could only be at home?
@KingPinguofDingu
@KingPinguofDingu Год назад
These apartments may have been new, as in no one occupied them during the lockdown at the time. All the residents may be residents who came in afterwards. Also, Japan never had an official nation wide lockdown. Japan's government doesn't have the authority to enforce a city wide lockdown, at best they can make announcements for people to try to stay inside, but cannot legally enforce it. So nobody would be forced to stay inside.
@kathaai
@kathaai Год назад
@@KingPinguofDingu that was the case for my country too, however everything was closed so you could basically only be outside outside (with only people from your household, no meeting others) and we did have a curfew for I think 8pm after that you weren't allowed outside unless u were walking ur dog

@@KingPinguofDingu good point! A couple mentioned being university students and a friend of mine living in Tokyo said her daughter wasn’t going to school during a portion of 2020-2021 and had to stay home. But it’s really likely they moved in more recently and Norm has mentioned these are newer buildings in the past.
