Yup, I still use hashtags, but thankfully I don't have to waste time trying to find thirty hashtags to incorporate in art photos. More importantly I think it was you Natalia that made a video explaining not to put hashtags in stories because they do nothing for the story.

Question - I cannot see posts in a hashtag, on my desktop and laptop, beyond the top 12 posts. Have you heard of this issue with others Instagram creators or am I the only one so far? I still use hashtags. They are still important for me as a small creator. Limitations on seeing postings in hashtags seem to limit reach to new subscribers

YES 😀 I couldn't agree more. Hashtags have changed significantly but they still do work! I've been able to continue high reach via hashtags on multiple accounts but with a lil' more grunt work. Do you all still use hashtags for every posts?

Should hashtags be organically mixed into the caption like added into sentences or put as a block in at the bottom.

I would definitely put them in a block at the bottom. Hashtags mixed in within your caption are confusing to read and break up the coherence of the text. It’s best to leave them separate below.

I put 27 out of 30 of my hashtags for carousels in the comments and 75% of my reach is from hashtags, can you elaborate on your point at 1:50 about hashtags in the comments?

yes, but that 75% reach from hashtags can be from just 1 of the 3 hashtags you didn't put in the comments. Unfortuantely, Instagram doesn't tell you which hashtag performs (I know a way if you wanna learn more about that, hmu). But I agree with Natalia. Even the head of Instagram has come out and suggested to do it this way - hashtags in the captions

@Aiva Manifested That here's an example why it makes more sense to put hashtags in captions. when you upload the post, if the hashtags are in the caption, they get processed along with all the information related to the post (alt tags, location, post type, etc). At this point is when hashtags are processed for categorization. On the other hand, do you want the algorithm to do that process AFTER the post has been processed. And what stops someone else from adding a hashtag to your post via a comment? I hope that presents my idea better

I've just addressed it my new video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SCV9uI4EhNE.html if you want to see this bit)! 😊 You will absolutely still get reach from using hashtags in the comments but you will miss out on the SEO portion of the hashtag function. If the hashtags are in the comments, they are not going to help the algorithm categorize your content and push it to the right people. Hope this explains it but if you want to dive deeper, I'm talking about the Instagram SEO strategy in the new video.

Who keeps on changing up the rules and the relevant hash tags? just when I started using them ...now You say it's useless to have numerous hash tags, wow go figure!

Instagram has been changing a lot of things for the last year or two because they’re trying to adjust to the new dynamic in social media. They’re trying to improve the algorithms to be more fair to creators like the recent switch to prioritizing original content. Are all these changes a good thing is definitely up for debate 😉 I definitely understand how frustrating it can be to keep up with all of the updates - it’s a lot when content creation is already a handful!
