Part 3: Sur La Table 13-Quart, 1700 Watts Multifunctional Air Fryer from Costco (Item 2443715 / Model SLT-1818) Do you think since the wattage is higher, it would cook better? I own it and love it. It does not seem to be as loud as the Insta oven style you tested in this video. The only issue is pulling 'wet stuff' across the glass door. TIP: I lay a small sheet of foil on the door before pulling out the food tray. It is around $100... do you think testing it against the Instpro oven style would be a good test? Costco has sold A LOT OF THEM

The Ninja that looks identical to the Vortex Pro (has trays). By the way, I have two Vortex Pro's and I absolutely LOVE THEM. The noise is bad; the forced preheat is something you get used to. Ease of cleaning is BEST. I never use anything but the trays. So useful for dehydrating fruit, too.

I don't think the hot glass on the Instant Vortex is a deal breaker, especially for the reason you gave (afraid your child would touch the glass). The glass on a regular stove oven also gets hot, so I guess that's a danger to children well.

I chose the Instant Vortex 6 Quart, and LOVE it. AND read the directions BEFORE using it. Fries, chicken turned out perfect. Teach the kids to stay away from it... geez. Highly recommend the Vortex 6!

Great review! Love your hands on approach to testing. You observed many of the pros/ cons that just can't be determined from reading the specs alone. I ultimately bought the Dreo based on value (price vs. performance), capacity, and safety. You might consider giving different priorities to different features (e.g. the factory smells may go away with use, but hot surfaces and child safety concerns are design issues, and maybe the latter should be allotted more points?)

You are so much fun to watch. I'm impressed that you automatically do the mom thing of "is this safe for the family?" The instant mom checklist of who is going to do something foolish or is a bit spacey around potentially dangerous things. 3/5 of my mom's children were in that category.

I recently got a Ninja DT201C, Foodi 10-in-1 XL Pro Air Fry Oven, Stainless steel, 1800W (Canadian version). It is really great love to hear your thoughts on this unit. The only downside is it is pretty large. On the other hand, it replaced my old-style oven, and I have no Microwave. It is slower than the MW, but the food comes out better. Love your work.

I have the smaller Dreo(4 qt) without a glass window. Got it on special for like 60 bucks. It never had the chemical/mechanical smell, right from the time I took it out of the box. I am cooking for just myself, so it works fine for me.

Love these videos! I see the Cosori is leading at 4.3 from the first fryer wars. I actually decided on the Cosori dual blaze to cook the top and bottom of food at the same time! Perhaps you can include that dual blaze model in your next fryer wars 3. Also, if you ever make an epic video just/all about wings, it would be awesome to use the Cosori dual blaze to see wings cooked without shaking/flipping! Well wishes.

I think if you use the reheat option on the instant pot airfryer that will skip the pre-heat. I haven't fully experimented with the version that was in your other video. I noticed it didn't pre heat the other day when I used it however it was also a lower temperature so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I have the Dreo 6.8 qt, It is 1500 watts, but i still get juicy wings @400 for 15 minutes, and homemade crispy fries at the same time/temp. My pork chop were to die for. The window, for me, is barely warm, and I can see most of my food. The entire machine is cool when cooking. I haven't done a whole chicken yet, but have one in the freezer.. My machine didn't have a factory smell. And I turn the crisper plate upside down to eliminate the bump in the middle. It's still easy to pull out. Just a customer pov, not a comparison video. But I do love it. Oh, you know that book you mentioned? I have it, and love it!

The glass front air fryer, like our oven and toaster oven, are always the place that is the most difficult to clean from splatters. I am not convinced to get the glass front model

Another great video! I've seen others have issues with that oven style as well. If you don't trust the chicken well, it jams the rotisserie. Pain to clean. I say you gift it to someone else or keep it for reheating only!

I have 2 air fryers one with a window one without. I don’t see the window as a needed part. The window one comes with the rotisserie basket and spit. My basket opens from the cage not the end like the one tested and I like the way mine opens. The fry’s, potato wedges come out perfectly crisp and brown. Plus the fryer comes with a tool for lifting the hot basket and spit out instead of putting hands into the oven. Also chickens and pork tenderloin on the spit comes out great. For the chicken I tie the legs and wings down, put one end of the screwed on teeth onto the rod then insert the rod letting the teeth go into the meat then attach the teeth to the other end of the rod ensuring the teeth go into the meat. I also agree about the hot window, I babysit an 8 yr old with learning disabilities, who hasn’t learnt yet about stay away from hot so I don’t use that fryer when he is in the house just for safety sake.

I always enjoy your video's, I love the Cosori you recommended , the clean up is so easy, today my cheese melted and stuck all over the place and still it was easy to clean, even my hubby was impressed! I can only imagine how awful the clean up would be with that rotisserie one! Thanks for sharing, I really love these reviews!

How can you compare air fryers if you don't know how to use them? I have a vortex plus and it works great but I read the 5 minutes manual instructions before attempting to use it..

Good video I have the Instant window one without the air filter. While the glass gets hot, it’s really no different than the glass on a toaster oven getting hot. So, in terms of keeping it away from kids, wouldn’t you say the exact same thing about a toaster oven?

Your review might benefit from a digital heat gun, which you point and aim, pull trigger and it reads surface temp. Great review, which leaves me happy with my Cosori 5.8 Bluetooth model, which is now 14 mo old. Used daily, sometimes multiple times a day.

Great vid as always. You seemed to like the display/interface on the Dreo but I think shorter people are going to have difficulty seeing and using the display when sitting on top of a counter. Particularly when pushed back a little. Much better design to have the display/interface on the front or on a slanted angle to the user. Having a window just seems pointless.

Thank you for your review, I have the Dreo and love it. I keep it stored on a shelf about shoulder height to my 5'5" and so I like that it is not that heavy to move around for this 77 year old homemaker, also to make it lighter I just take the try out and then move it, no hot window, no odor, no messy parts to assemble and my chicken recipe is very juicy, easy to clean and no unpleasant sounds, all in all easy to use and window shows me enough to tell what's going on. I'm very happy with it.

Since this is a more recent test video for the Vortex Plus with the clearcook window, did you notice that after it says END, you can't cook anything else in it for the next 8 minutes? Some owners have said that the controls get locked out during that 8 minute timeout (except for the light on/off button). If that's true. that means you can't start another cook cycle right away. On Amazon someone messaged Instant about it, and Instant told that that it was a new safety feature they recently added. The older units didn't do this. Imo, that would make using the newer updated model much more cumbersome if you wanted to cook multiply batches of food in a row. It seems the only way to override that 8 minute timeout, would be to unplug the power cable, and then plug it back in...?... but that would also mean the preheat timer resets too, and then you'll need to wait once again before starting another cook cycle.

We love our new Cosori Dual Blaze, got it two weeks ago. So nice to not have to flip food, especially chicken wings (though for toast, I flip the bread to get the texture we both prefer). I’ve made battered frozen cod, fries, wings and frozen broccoli- all turned out delicious! Hope you like yours, too!

I have on OLD Cook's Essentials (QVC) 5.7 qt air fryer that works pretty good, but I wish I had more capacity. I also have a Ninja Foodie that has an air fryer function. So, when I watch your videos I feel like I would do better with a newer air fryer, but I already have 2 appliances that can air fry, so... Have you ever reviewed the air fry function of the Ninja Foodie? I usually just use that function to crisp the top of something I have pressure cooked or brown the top of a "casserole" I have cooked in there. If you have reviewed the Ninja as just an air fryer I would love the link to that video.

I have a Cooks air fryer from about 2 years ago, it works pretty well. I also have a Ninja Foodi 6.5qt and it works wells also but I tend to use my Cooks air fryer for air frying since it has a pull out basket.

I agree with your assessment! Cosori does have a newer model that is pretty cool because it has a burner at the top and the bottom, so you don't have to flip food anymore (which is pretty cool). I ended up buying the Instant Vortex over the Cosori which I bought last year however returned as when it was cooking it was unbelievably noisy being open plan house which just wasn’t practical. Personally like the idea of the window on the Vortex plus it is so much quieter. Only annoying issue is it doesn’t come with any recipes which the Cosori does albeit plenty of videos on You Tube. You mentioned the window getting very hot-I haven’t had that issue at all at most barely warm however maybe cooking a whole chicken could be different , don’t have kids so not a problem. Keep up the great work

Good job! I'm glad I watched this. In Phoenix, we hate to turn on our oven this time of year, but some tater tots or chicken wings are still desirable. I've had my eye on the IP Vortex Plus with the window. It's $120 right now. You helped me to confirm it's the right choice for us. So this has been very helpful. I still don't want to pay $120 though! I don't know whether the odor control is worth the extra $10. I wouldn't have known the window area gets too hot without your help.

Great review! Now that Cosori has tanked I'm sure there will be many people looking to buy new Air Fryers. I have given up on the process for getting a replacement Cosori air fryer beause that company simply does not want to replace milliions of their faulty Air Fryers and have made the process extremely difficult. The Instant brand has a great reputation and will be my next air fryer. If I was an executive at Instant Vortex I would offer a deep discount to all the Cosori owners that "got burned" with their original purchase. Bye bye Cosori, hello Instant Vortex!

Although I have two 6 qt Instant air fryers, after viewing this video I ordered the Instant 6 qt with window, not for the window so much, but for the 1700 cooking power. The funny thing about ordering this from Amazon was from your link, the price was $89.99, but if just going to the Amazon site and not using your link, the price listed was $149.99. Don't have a clue what's going on at Amazon with the large price discrepancies, but I couldn't pass a discounted price like this. Respects, Richard

This is the 'oven' model I bought here in the Philippines. Any thoughts/questions about it? It is still new to me, I don't know how to cook, here to learn simple and fast recopies (I can't stand up long or lean forward to cook on a regular stove or oven and I am tired of chips, candy, crackers, and any processed junk in general) 1) for the factory smell, the directions call for initial 20 minutes at max temp to burn the factory oils off. After that start cooking. 2) I expected a vacuum cleaner fan noise, NOPE, so quiet I had to look inside to make sure the fan is actually on! 3) Tray size is generally 12" x 10 1/2" 4) Capacity is 30L which is bout 26 Quarts 5) Price converts to about $125usd 6) I would prefer the accuracy of digital, but after using it a couple times I am good with the settings, to aid cleanup I keep a layer of aluminum foil, dull side up, on the bottom 7) Fries, Chicken Nuggets come out crispy outside and fully cooked but moist inside (used light spray of olive oil before cooking to ensure crispiness). I love my little air fryer oven with the window! I have had it for over two years now and it is wonderful it has three little removable mesh wire racks that I can use to cook and roast vegetables on or meats and fish and I do everything in there I bake even it is fabulous and in the summer time I don't have to heat up my big oven in the kitchen or even in the winter I just use it all the time I rarely use my regular oven anymore I would never want a basket air fryer and who cares if the window gets dirty in it mine is dirty and I could care less!

Glad you tested the Instant vortex plus 6qt which I just purchased but am a bit disappointed You crammed a 5.5lb bird that got a bit toasty in areas because it was too big for that fryer. Instruction say 4 lb was the max.

My Instant Vortex 6 QT 6 in 1 Clear Cook Airfryer DIDN'T come with the odor ease and right now Amazon has it for $96.00 also my glass doesn't really get that hot. I'm really loving the way it cooks, I've done wings in it and they were great.

@@empoweredcooks no smells at all really, I cooked Brussels Sprouts yesterday and they cooked quicker then I thought they would so they did smell but the smell didn't remain in the airfryer. So far I'm loving cooking in it, I really love being able to watch what I'm cooking so if it's browning sooner then the recipe calls for I can pull it out.

Hi Cathy. I'm in the UK, but love your videoes & recipes. We have a store here called Aldi, not sure you have them in the USA? Anyway, I bought one of their own brand air fryer s called the Ambiano. I really rate it, but wonder have you ever heard of them?

There seems to be a raft of Ambiano stuff coming through Aldi just now, waffle makers, grills, toasters etc. I too had never heard of the brand, but they're guaranteed for three years, and Aldi are so good if you have any issues that I thought I'd give it a try. I have had a few sent to me over the past year and I do not like them at all. The ones that were sent to me have a preheat function that takes forever, and they took a lot longer to cook food as well. They got hot on the exterior and on the glass... like WAY hot. It heated up my kitchen worse than my oven. They may have just been bad brands... so maybe there is a wonderful one out there, but I am not a fan.

For the Instant one, it's much easier to already have the rotisserie spit assembled before sliding it into the chicken instead of trying to screw it on when it's already inside of it. It also seems like you're missing one of the accessories. There's an accessory handle that lets you take the basket and the rotisserie spit in and out instead of using your hands. Great review!

On your rotisserie, I would say you need to truss, your bird. Use common butcher’s twine or, the two-tone stuff made for trussing. I like your reviews, good luck.

I wonder if the instant oven style fryer was hotter on one side than the other because in your first air fryer wars you stated you had lifted the door a little higher pn one side when opening it. Maybe that explains why it's hotter on that one side??? Maybe???

A couple of quick thoughts on your test: Im pretty sure unless the glass temperature gets to 130 degrees it wont burn skin. If it was capable of burning you it would be legally negligent of any company producing consumer products to allow an external surface of any appliance to reach that temperature. Secondly the inclusion of a rotiserie air fryer in your test was a funny choice since the other two are totally different category of fryer; I would far prefer if you to compare basket type air fryers with other basket air fryers of a similar size and likewise for rotiserie air fryers. You get the concept and keep up the great work!

If you want to by-pass the preheat on the Instant Vortex, just use "Reheat" instead of "Air Fry." I have an Instant Vortex 6-quart 4-in-1, and the "Reheat" pre-set doesn't preheat. (Edited to add: the only limitation on this is that the highest temperature you can use with "Reheat" is 360º)

The chiicken might have been too heavy to rotisserie but even then, you should have trussed it. The rotisserie function works great.

My problem with air fryers is they spew smelly chemical odors while cooking. I love that you're the only channel that addresses the smell component, but smelling trays after they cool doesn't seem very helpful. I just want to know if the exhaust persistently smells when cooking after a burn in period.

I really like my Dreo and have had great results. It was quiet with no chemical smells. I do not care for Instant vortex air fryers. Had the oven and the door fell off. The rotisserie basket was a nightmare to clean. I despise the the fact you are "forced" to preheat and can't override. The Instant pot brand needs to stick with what they do well and that is pressure cooking. Just my two cents.

With that rotisserie, you always have to bind your chicken. You really should be doing it with all of them. It’ll cook much better if you don’t have the wings and legs flailing out and they’re tucked up close against the body.
