I like your show, but I have to take an issue with what you said. For myself, I can compare buying a bass to buying a pair of jeans. You have to try it out to make sure it fits. The neck is the be all end all to buying a bass. It's got to feel great in your hands, and your fingering style. I could never buy a bass on line before playing it first. ESP is a great company. Just tried out a Tom Arya bass from ESP. Felt great, but with 2 exceptions. The top E string felt strange when playing, and the bass was made with a weird "fiber" feel. Not wood. Great price,, but had to put it back on the rack.. So that is why you try them out first.
Hi David. You make an important and crucial point. That being said, I have advised on a number of my videos to my subscribers that they need to go to the music store and try out whatever catches their eye. I think I began this channel on episode one with that sentiment. The other sad reality is that many of us are no longer able to shop like this because of the stupid covid issue destroying, well everything and everyone. Many online retailers and resellers have pretty good return policies that help. But yes, I say go to the store and buy from them, but online purchasing is totally cool IMHO.
I always wanted to try an ESP bass as one of my absolute favourite bassist ( Reita from gazette ) swears by them but I wouldn’t buy without trying .. I have to feeeeeeel it. If I’m not turned on it ain’t it haha I tried a 4 & 5 string 2k Ibanez collab and I felt so so about them . So it’s all about likeability while understanding the wood and specs within ☺️
@@shadowalnut572 Don't be surprised if those factory pickups are superb out of the box. Those are not knock-off drop ins. Those are made in house, so they do meet or exceed the performance of aftermarket stuff, but already built into the instrument. Let me know if you snag one. How would you feel about a ray4? I’ve been looking at one as a second bass (my first is a 5 string) & I’m wanting something versatile that can be a good mod platform

Thanks Kevin, I do make a recommendation of this brand as a purely introductory instrument on: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nT4uDpQq0IY.html That being said, if you already have a 4 string bass and feel comfortable with it, and you now need a very inexpensive, beginner 5 string bass, then this might do it. If you can get your hands on one and play it first, you will have to take into account as to whether it is worth it to get, or save up more money to get one that might be better for you for a longer period of time.
