I think the emphasis on ease of use will be welcome by many people. Sometimes you just want a product that works and allows you to enjoy the music or movie.
Well they had the upgraded and rebadged Arcams, so it’s not like they’ve been out of the game. I have the SDP-55. Now obviously these are cheaper, and well priced IMO.
Awesome! May not be the ultimate audiophile-level, dedicated-theater solution...BUT looks like a PERFECT design for all the folks adding great surround sound to their Living Room AV systems that their whole family will use MOST of the time.
The only thing that interests me about this product is that we might have just gotten a glimpse of the internals of the soon-to-be-released Arcam receivers. The PCB layout clearly has Arcam written all over it. Additionally, JBL doesn't manufacture anything themselves; they simply take an Arcam unit and rebrand it with a new front. I'm curious whether the Class D modules were developed in-house by Arcam or sourced from companies like Hypex or Icepower. I'm also disappointed that there are no DAC specifications provided, though that was expected.
I am honestly surprised that the last couple of years of Samsung flagship phones are not explicitly supported like iPhone. JBL is ultimately owned by Samsung.
Yes, it is interesting. Apparently the microphones used are not consistent across models so you can't calibrate the software to a known microphone curve.
I've been waiting for such a device. Pioneer/Onkyo did some small class d amps, also Canton from Germany has a small AVR, but this just looks better and has the room correction.
We had the 9100HP up and running for over an hour watching a few different movies. It was set out in the open and was slightly warm to the touch, but it was not as warm as many other receivers we've tested. You can also disable the lights underneath and turn off the screen. Boot up time was around 20ish seconds from what we can recall. We didn't time it but it was fast enough to not notice having to wait for it. We do not think you can change the volume to relative (dB), as we didn't see it in the settings. Unless it's hiding somewhere then we don't think you can. We'll have to dig into that more to see. The display on the 9100HP is great. Colorful and icons were large and easy to read. The bottom three models don't have the color screen so they are a bit more basic. But the screen looks great for being on a receiver! Hope those answered your questions!

So how are the configuration options for those of us who like to dive deep to tweak things. I love how it looks and the price is good. But I don’t want my hand held for setting it up and this seems like it’s not going to be very suited for us who love to tweak and tinker with everything. For PNP though this looks about as good as it’ll get

Nice-looking AVR, but I'm more of a technical type, so it's not for me. However, my question is can the display be turned off when watching a movie or play games? I'm very picky about minimizing distractions.
I just got an Onkyo receiver not long ago and was my first time getting a home theater system If this was available when I got the Onkyo, I probably would have gotten this instead. There are so many different options that are only slightly different to each other that it makes it very confusing for a guy new to this area. Don’t get me wrong, I am still very happy with what I got, but this probably would have been better for me.
They look awesome 100%, the only problem I've had with JBL over the years is that their product line is hugely inconsistent. Also the availability of their product line is just also extremely inconsistent. Like they'll offer a product and then they won't offer it but then they'll offer it again, And then certain products are not offered at some locations but some are offered at other locations, I mean it just makes for a convoluted experience with their products.
Fair enough. We can see how that is frustrating. We fairly certain that they are streamlining their products so this isn't an issue moving forward. They make a lot of great products so it also can be tough to keep up with demand.
@@AudioAdvice actually I'm looking at picking up that turntable they do, I Love the look of it and I already have a system set up so don't need the matching amp but I love the look of that turntable.
If you assigned that mode to an input yes, but when the unit (and all AVR's actually) powers down, when it comes by up, it goes to the preassigned mode. Thanks for watching

Fair enough, you actually don't notice it very much in person. Our shots were extremely close up and had to block some lighting to even get a good view. It's very understated.
I still remember my jbl pb 12 subwoofer……what a disaster, they used sub par components on their circuit board to save a penny or two And left the customers stranded, never looked at jbl again
Excellent news for HT enthusiasts. JBL is a 800lb gorilla in the audio business and they will push the envelope, forcing competitors to come up with better products at lower prices.
I like the forward thinking design. But I don't see how these are anywhere near competitive against Marantz Cinema series that have even better design, which are class AB, have pre outs, 4 sub outs and are cheaper! These JBL's look like toys compared to Marantz, especially with so much plastic parts and class D amps! They need to lower prices by a lot. Unless they think their consumers are morons, which judging by the stupid ass ad they released wouldn't surprise me, if they actually think that way. 😂
These are far less in price per channel than Marantz and for most people in the lower ranges easier to set up. The Marantz with pre outs and 4 subs outs it far more than the most expensive one of these. Yes, the higher end Marantz is better, but these guys start at $399
Class D amplification? Keep it - Class D amps belong in subs and car stereos, true high quality is Class A, A/B, Class G, or Class H. NAD is trying this too - no audiophile is being fooled. And JBL couldn't include a mic for their room correction? Come on - the cheapest Denon comes with a mic. Gotta buy that separately?

@@AudioAdvice Thanks for your kind answer; I have to read the JBL manual just to see if the surround upmixer has two modalities ( one for movies and one for music ) because for some strange reason some new receivers have only the movie one , that has a louder center channel....
I don't understand why JBL and Wiim don't have Android as an option for calibration. I also don't understand why Dirac is so expensive. Is it really that much better than the free room corrections you can do wirh a microphone or manual measurements?
