Im glad im not stuck in that hellhole anymore. Two years sober. There are some nice people there. Sadly its a real strugfle for the good people living in Paterson.
Shame the Catholic HS was shutdown by the Archdiose of Newark(one Victor Cruz went too/UMass/NY Giants) That high scholl gave hope many people through the years
I was at a Wake there for friend past away 5 yrs ago & in the afternoon I saw 2 instances of police pulling cars over with weapons drawn in broad daylight, Rough town
@@MrToni0914 nowhere in this video were they ever in 21st Ave in paterson. Started on north main street, then Belmont Ave, hit a little on the west side, then west Broadway then ended up on rosa parks and Godwin
I know citizens may not be able to change the crime rate. But is it hard for the community to just pick up litter/trash consistently. Having a clean neighborhood can improve your state of mind/self esteem.
The mayor and city council need to set aside some funds. Organize a clean up, along with new public trash bins, and signs requiring citizens to use the trash bin or they could face a fine.
We do but we can't keep up when you have outsiders living on our street rummaging through our garbage. Outsiders parking and cleaning out their cars onto the sidewalks, the locals are mostly clean, working people
I lived there in the 90s, when I was working at St. Joseph Hospital. It was bad, but I did not get robbed or hurt fortunately. Paterson had a great industrial manufactoring history during WW2 , but everything is gone by now.
We have covered trash barrels in my village that are emptied by the town, DPW. There's at least 3 people who throw away other people's trash all the time, Vince, Joan & me. I'm sure some other people do, too.
Another shithole? And I’m originally from Philly, truly one of the formerly great cities and now… a shithole. Throw out the criminal Democrats from Biden on down responsible for this travesty.
CBo bingo 🥱 Also you're seeing one half tidy car & then searching for more - it's called confirmation bias. The majority of cars in this vid are in fact basic bitch crap shacks
CBo bingo 🥱 Also you've made the mistake of spotting one half tidy car & then searching more out - it's called confirmation bias. The majority of the motors in this video are the same crap shacks you'll see anywhere else
Paterson is surrounded by nice towns & they all loathe having Paterson as a neighbor. People from that town are perceived negatively. Any time you hear of a crime occurring in Passaic or Bergen County, it's usually someone from Paterson or Newark. They take pride in having a bad reputation. People can disagree but I was born & raised in Passaic County, just speaking from personal observation & what others have said.
@robertquagliano1297 No, North Camden. South Camden isn't really that bad anymore, they rebuilt a lot of it 15 years ago. North Camden is still a wreck.
I am originally from here and moved out in 2014. I recall it being much dirtier before. I visited recently and paterson looks much better. There used to be groups of guys on every corner and now if you go, you dont really see that!, the area by library looks much better and so does around the hospital.
This town doesn't look so bad, I've seen worse. Looks like many houses have siding and paint to modernize them. Lots of cars on the streets shows newer vehicles. The down side is more liquor stores than grocery stores and lots of trash in the streets from littering. Most of these odd buildings have three stories and posibly a basement apartment. Appears they are early 20th or late19th Century constructions, pre car, no garages. I would imagine in the warmth of summer many folks would be outside.
Imagine how much money we, the people would have if we invested instead of drinking, doing drugs, partying, using the latest Iphones, wearing Gucci, and eating out every other meal, though.
Yeah this has absolutely nothing to do with politicians stealing money. Politicians steal money in every city and state. This is strictly a Black/Spanish cultural problem.
Ok and new orleans look better than north philly too. Why when it's something about south jersey somebody either mentioned nyc or philly in the comments. Can y'all stop with that mess Gad damn it's fukking annoying
NJ has the highest median household income in all the US, We have older cities like Paterson and Newark that have problems but it's mostly a great place to live. Great beaches, restaurants, shopping, the GIants and the Jets in Bergen County, access to NYC, lots of diversity. It's expensive to live here so it's hard if you are poor. I drive through Paterson and find it mostly safe. Go visit the Great Falls which is amazing and a few blocks from where you were filming,
Paterson isn't even that bad he just went in the worse neighborhood and filmed. Paterson homes even in those neighborhoods are going for 250K and up. I live in Paterson
People like you have no clue what you're talking about. You drove through? Yeah I can bet my bottom dollar you wouldn't dare to get out and walk the places I was at. I'm not even from Paterson but I almost got killed there numerous times. Don't even get me started on Newark. I'm from NYC but I lived in Jersey for years and did a lot of construction work all over Newark, Irvington, East Orange, Paterson, Passaic etc. witnessed numerous broad day shootings and murders including the next door neighbors to one of the homes we were working, got shot right there. I've heard Newark is safer than it was 20 years ago but I dunno. To many bad memories. People living in those communities have way to much trauma. People deserve better.
@@bamnjphotoThat means literally nothing. There are nice houses in Compton, nice houses on the south side of Chicago. Plenty of dangerous place have some nice looking streets with nice houses. They're also plagued with crime, drugs and gang activity. Paterson is an open air drug market. I would know I was a drug dealer and an addict. Was in the trenches of Paterson every day. Not driving through for five seconds.
@@blade_warrior_blueI’m from Yonkers in New York just north of the bronx, this guy (the one who claims he drove through Paterson) doesn’t know what he’s talking about. It’s a dangerous area, he probably confused Patterson with Paramus 😂
@@blade_warrior_blue I'm a homeowner in Paterson. He in the worse of the worse, he could have went a few blocks in any direction and the whole atmosphere changed. KICK ROCKS
and than a couple miles over in Paramus you have million dollar houses. I dont know if its like that in any other state/city but having such high poverty and high wealth really close to eachother is weird
it definitely is especially on the East Coast. Philadelphia is a perfect example of this. West Philly is brutal but if you just keep heading west a little further...Mansions and stupid wealth. Gladwyne, Radnor, Media etc. Allentown, PA and Reading PA are great examples too in comparison because they parallel the size of Patterson NJ. In NJ alone, Trenton and Camden are solid comparisons. it's almost like an invisible line is drawn on a particular street.
It literally costs nothing to pick up after yourself. But the area is trashed... and they wonder why they can't succeed in life when they fail themselves.
It's called having no sense of prosperity and years and years of racism. It takes exceptional people to escape that type of environment. There are many of us who succeed. Sadly, there are even more that don't. That's what white supremacy does to black and brown communities.
Has nothing on Camden, East Orange etc. Paterson has some nice areas. The Falls the park downtown has been renovated etc. several people come from out of town to go to the Falls now. But around Ward, Governor, Straight street and West Broadway you will see stuff like this
East Orange? Have you looked at Paterson Newspaper? We have weekly shootings. More than Camden, and especially East Orange. I think only Trenton has more than Paterson.
That goes to show that it's not that bad and what people make it out to be. Just a bunch of naysayers. I'm from here so I know. It's just a bunch of trash everywhere that makes it look bad.
Not the worst Looking or most dangerous but still all cities in jersey are in complete despair, the cities and some neighborhoods within are the only parts like that the rest of jersey is actually very nice and has a lot of activities
It's a small city. It's actually not that bad.. They have a strong immigrant community, with solid work ethics. The schools are not that good, by New Jersey standards, but by the standards of some other states, not that bad. I have friends there, have never felt unsafe. Their neighborhood is quiet, lots of young families and some older folks. People keep an eye one things. It's similar, in that way, to where I grew up.
Ok you can say Camden is uglier or worse which it is , but that’s just a small part neighborhood in Paterson!!!! It’s really rough out there just overall!!! The schools, the environment to raise a family!!!! Your kids will fall into the trap and be another victim or product of the environment!!!! I was born and raised there and I was one of those kids that grew up outside and hanging out eventually on the corners with all the friends I grew up with! However, when I join the Army , it made me see things from a different light!!!!!! Sleep if you want to about Paterson, but it’s a very dangerous city, but most impotently a hell hole for lost souls
Facts, he ain’t show the whole Paterson, outsiders don’t know the whole city is straight slums unless they personally see it for themselves and immediately want to leave
