I hadn't known that Per Nilsson was in Kaipa. I had to look it up to confirm that he is the same Per Nilsson that is in the metal band Scar Symmetry and has been a touring guitarist for Meshuggah.
I’ve listened to a few of their albums but for me Sattyg is head and shoulders above anything else they’ve done. Favourite track, Sky full of painters. Per is amazing isn’t he ?
@@TheProgCorner Have you seen this ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z6gAMKOgEts.htmlsi=0xj0Kp5US_ipsost On a separate note, saw Nick Mason last night and my doubts about Gary Kemp from Spandau Ballet singing and playing some very nice lead were firmly squashed. The pedigree of the other band members was a list of who’s who too. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of pre meddle Floyd but Astromini Domini and set the controls were very nice. Never thought I’d hear Echoes and One of these days played live again too. Sent shivers up my spine like when I saw Hacket play suppers ready last year
Kaipa and Trettioåriga Kriget was my favorite swedish bands in the seventies and I saw them live several times. Both bands went downhill trying to adapt to the musical taste of the eighties, like many progressive music bands. But to my delight, both bands came back twenty years ago. Trettioåriga Kriget with all the members from the seventies and they have released a lot of good albums. since then. Kaipa on the other hand is Hans Lundins solo project. The only reason it’s called Kaipa was that no one was using that name when he decided to make albums again. When Roine and the two other original members decided to get together and make an album, they could not use the name, so they called the band Kaipa da Capo. They made an album and played live. It was cool hearing they play the old Kaipa music from the seventies. Hans Lundins Kaipa don’t play live and the only reason to call it a band is that he uses the same musicians on the albums. It really has not much to do with the old band from the seventies. I was very disappointed when Roine left Kaipa 1978, but I think the album they made after he left, Händer (Hands) is really good. It was an adaptation to what was going on at that time, it’s a synth rock album, and a very successful album in that genre, in my opinion. I like it a lot.
Hey Scot! Lost power earlier this morning. No storms? Humidity broke finally for today. Back to steambath and storms tomorrow!! Hope you have a prog filled day!👍☮️👑🐍😎

The alblum is done. It just needs final approval of final mix. Roine has said if it not thus year it will be by end of summer 2025 latest. Goal is for late fall winter release could be spring 2025.
yeah its those weird accents that can really make standard time sigs alien... having mastery of that makes the craziest transitions happen... kinda like what Rush did on Tom Sawyer... requires a very special feel. Gotta check this out. Listing to other musician's stuff as I write this press release. Whole world going to hell but prog is in a great place these days...
It's odd how Norway tends to be associated (rightly or not) with 'death metal' while Sweden wears the progressive rock crown. I wonder why that should be? Anyway, I deduct points for the band singing in English on most of the tracks. They should sing in Swedish. Look at it this way: do we expect IQ, Tangent or Myth Of Logic to sing in Swedish? I'm biased because I love the sound of Scandinavian languages, especially Swedish, but other nations ought to celebrate their national identity and be proud of their culture. That's why I like (for example) Deus Ex Machina who only sung in 2 different languages - Italian and Latin. Splendid.
I have Urskog and I enjoy it however I do get kinda frustrated with all this spinoff stuff from Flower Kings. There’s just so much of it. If you play an instrument and you’re from Sweden it seems it automatically makes you a member of Flower Kings. You could probably use all your music listening time devoted to Flower Kings stuff and never listen to anything else. It kinda makes me throw my hands up in the air and reach for a Karmakanic album… Whoops! Nevermind.
