Album not even mid. Album full blown trash. I give 0/10 . People get so caught up labeling as the best lyricist and preacher but his flows and voices are so cringey and corny
3 or 4 out of 10 is probably most fair. It's got 2 great songs on it, Family Issues and Count Me Out. But those are both B side type tracks. Everything else was definitely pretty bad. 1 or 2 okay songs and everything else was almost unlistenable.

He is better now than his younger self. His current haters are probably people who crave the nostalgic feeling of his albums when they heard him the first time. He just cant give that feeling to you again. No artist can.

Since 2022 I've kept 4 songs in rotation. Not bad for a double album. Definitely not his best work I think it's so personal to him, it misses sonically. I don't agree with the Kodak inclusion, like at all, even though I get it. He said he was dealing with writers block for two years and it shows. Still good writing, but this would have been more effective at getting it's point across in a book format or as a play, but music is not the right medium for this.
I was one of those that thought Kendrick could be the goat, but this album isn't mid.... it's bad imo. N95, die Hard (not kendricks parts) and count Me Out are the only good songs. 2/10.

This just makes me sad man. Here you have Kendrick making a beautiful borderline stage play about therapy and generational trauma. A truly introspective project about him and his journey from becoming the so-called "saviour" and realizing he’s just a person and everyone should consider him like that. I get why a lot of people don’t get it or understand it and that’s fine but to me I think this is a great album with a great message. And if the random viewer gave time to read all of this know I appreciate you because most would reply straight away saying how stupid I am and how much of a meat-rider I’m being. But yea that’s my opinion hope you respect it and of course music is subjective so don’t come at me.

Its not hard to understand, it never is hard to understand kendrick and thats always the excuse. He’s not sayin anything beyond the required basic comprehension skills. The album is mid regardless of this synopsis. It sucks, the bars are mid as usual with kendrick and the replay value is in the toilet. Its a pretentious album that him and his team sat back and watched social media for 5 years to create. Its musically trash as well. Like the individual on another comment said kendrick’s best was section 80/GKMC.

Never clicked with Kendrick to the fullest because of his annoying ass voice, but I could always give him credit for some good texts and interesting instrumentals. This album left me with nothing. This couple argument-song stayed in mind, otherwise it's uninteresting to me. Sometimes I have the feeling that we live in some sort of an easter egg-era where references everywhere are made, but no real substance comes out of it. To me it is more like "Yeah, you know stuff... nice. And to fully understand what you are saying I need to read the whole book, listen to the whole song/album, watch the whole movie you are refering to?" And even if I know it, it adds nothing to the lyrics themselves. It seems more like common denominator thing where the only reaction that artists want to achieve is that the listener says "Oh I know that too!" Just repetition no enlightenment

This album was trash, zero replay value. Everybody loves to label a album "classic" as soon as it comes out. Is anyone playing this mid album anymore? No one i know, or anyone of the internet is talking about this mid steppers album anymore. Some classic albums: Supreme Clientele, Common Sense - Resurrection, Mobb Deep - The Infamous, Nas - Illmatic. these are just some basic examples and all the albums are over 20 years old and they are still getting played and being talked about. That's the thing that makes it a classic album. Morale & The Big Steppers will never be remembered in 20 years, trust me!
This album is definitely not going to be for everyone and I can get why u would think it sounding flat sometimes is a turn off. It kinda gives me some Earl Sweatshirt vibes which a lot of people don’t like. @@YUMMYVHS alright so I can probably type a whole essay but basically a main theme of the album is untreated pain and grief which is also why the album doesn’t sound fun because it’s not supposed to it’s kind of depressing. The first 9 songs are the Big Steppers and the second is Mr. Morale. The album starts off with Kendrick basically admitting that he’s been dealing with shit and can’t find peace in his life. He says he’s taking to a therapist now and those therapy sessions is what makes up the album, he’s literally using the album as his therapy u can hear bud therapist in the album. Anyway that pain and grief Kendrick has is because of his upbringing and how his parents affected him growing up. That upbringing makes rappers like Kodak which is why he’s a character in the album aka the Big Steppers. Second to last song Kendrick realizes he has to break the generational curse for his kids and heal his trauma for them. Last song after that is him telling the fans that he chose himself over his movement he created and is abandoning his old career to focus on his family and himself. I respect your opinion, but at least to me I really found it enjoyable, maybe because I went into it expecting something completely different than the usual maybe I enjoyed it a little more than that. Stand out tracks for me where Father Time, We Cry Together, Mirror, and the only Duds I would say are Silent Hill and Rich Spirit. I would say 8/10 for me
it's not a classic but saying it's mid is over exaggerating just to be different tbh. united in grief is a great opener with a brilliant instrumental, N95 showcases kendricks many flows over a constantly evolving beat, worldwide steppers is a more raw track with a more surprising monotone flow from kendrick going over personal topics, die hard has a nice upbeat tone with great vocals from amanda reifer and blxst, father time was an amazing song and probably the best on there with how he explored the topic of men unable to be sensitive and how being fatherless can really affect a person growing up and maturing while also having a killer instrumental and rich interlude may have just been a filler on surface level but if you actually hear what kodak is saying through his strong florida accent he actually speaks about some deep shit, growing up in the hood, poverty, coming up in the industry and that's with a amazing piano instrumental accompanying him and that's just a few tracks that are great on the album. again i feel like you are saying it's mid to be different and stand out, definitely over exaggerating but i do think the album is a 8/10. i agree there was some filler like rich spirit and silent hills but apart from that the album was very solid.
