Very nice personality this reviewer. Just got my Sportage 2 months ago HEV version and over 4000 miles averaging 47mpg. Love the car. Well equipped and comfortable. Replaced a 21 plate Audi A6. Not regretting the change at all.
Brilliant. Only Nicola can get away with appraising a dash design with "It looks, like, really, like, proper nice." 😄Only petrol and diesel versions available in New Zealand (for now), sadly.
The way the premium brands dropped the quality in the later years, especially Mercedes, Audi but even VW, no brainer that brands like KIA could catch up. I bought the latest Mercedes GLA but i sat in the new Sportage and said to myself...was the badge really worth..? Especially when you get that 7 year warranty by KIA
I actually tweeted to the author of an Auto Express review on the new Sportage asking why the adaptive dampers offered in other markets wouldn’t be offered in the UK, and he said that - and I’m quoting directly here - “it's probably down to the UK market aiming for a certain price on the car and choosing the manufacturing variances accordingly.”
I placed an order for the Touscon in February. I kind of wish I got the Sportage instead because of the interior. Existing comparison videos conclude that the Sportage is the better car. Looking forward to your comparison video.
@@ssj6boy tbh... the tucson is the better car imo. Looks can be subjective but the tucson looks better than the sportage. The tucson was designed perfectly in terms of looks (not too eye catching and weird nor boring and round) but the sportage is too much to your face, the front is a little jarring. And hyundai gives you a bigger boot. Interior on both are nice but i personally dont prefer the single long display on kia, i jus like a separate screen for the center console. And everything else is pretty much the same. I think you made a good choice by picking tucson over sportage. (Dont get me wrong, im not saying sportage is trash, im jus saying tucson is better 🙂👍)
@@ssj6boy I'm currently debating between the Tucson and the Kona hybrids .. I looked at the Sportage but to get the same level of kit, the sportage is way more 💰💰, I'm leaning towards the 1.6 hybrid Kona , even though it means switching from manual to automatic .
It'll be a popular lease option. You could comfortably get one for around £300 per month. I have a Tucson arriving in a few days, albeit the Premium spec so not range topping, and it's £300 a month with 12,000 miles per year.
Why don't people who review cars ever take road tax and insurance into consideration like for instance whichever car you buy within the UK if the car cost more than £40,000 brand new no matter if you buy nearly new then you might have to pay a £390 surcharge on top of your road tax for the next 5 years. If you went for the Hyundai Tucson Ultimate self charging and Mild charging awd kia sportage gt line s then both of them are insurance groups 20 where the self charging version of the kia sportage gt line s is insurance 25 but don't quote me on this.
Hi how come when you're reviewing this car you don't mention the quality of the seats or positions etc,I have owned 2 sportages which I really liked but the seats were never that great passenger seat hardly any adjustment unless you went up to the 4!
If only I could put that interior and hopefully impressive PHEV drivetrain into the body of the current GT Line S - exterior really isnt doing it for me yet!
Does anyone know why the Sportage and the Tucson which command top money for the top models do not have a heads up display which in this day and age seems daft.
I must admit I like it and the reason is it's better finished than its sister Hyundai and because you can get it with a diesel which would be my preference and you can't with the Hyundai that'd be why I'd choose it over the Hyundai.
43K for a Kia... Sorry. The Tuscon is cheaper and the same underneath and I think for that money I could have a better badge on my grill... Mazda CX5 and Toyota RAV 4.!!
@@Jstars200 Your born yesterday. You do know Kia can't stand on their own. Literally every thing they have is based on Hyundai components. It was not too long ago they were buying up obsolete manufacturing tooling that Mazda were no long using to build their own cars.... 😂
@@265justy Hyundai/KIA is a stronger brand than most japanese makers. That’s reality. They have more attractive design, better reliability records and more safe resell value. This is at least the case in european countries.
@@Jstars200 Your deluded. In terms off reliability.... They ain't a patch on Honda, Mazda, Toyota, Lexus.... They have no iconic cult car at all... Nothing. They have about as much appeal as a dishwasher... World reliability car rankings have ALWAYS Japanese brands on top. Remember the Japanese are in this trade far longer.
Believe it or not… I sold my Tesla Model Y 2021 to buy a Kia Sportage 2023 Hybrid EX. At the end of the day Tesla’s are nice but they are expensive to keep.
Good review as always. I wish when you mention the 7 year warranty explain that it is only a full warranty for the first few years and then starts to reduce. The Tucson is a full warranty for the five years.
@markyes Yes it is a 7 year warranty, but if you read the detail of the warranty, the number of items covered reduces over the 7 years. For example audio and satnav systems are only covered for 3 years, paintwork for 5 years. If you have a special edition model, the modified body parts are covered for two years. I like the fact that Kia offer the 7 year warranty and wish other manufacturers followed suit, but just be aware of the detail.
I was going to do that but the RAV4 has an awful CVT transmission and the Lexus goes over 40k which then puts you into the high road tax bracket. Kia/Hyundai has grown up and no longer a budget car.
@@TheMaleforce i thought exactly the same until I took the RAV4 on a test drive. It’s not as bad as you might think. In fact it was smooth and very quiet 99% of the drive. There was some noise when you floored it but not enough to put me off buying one. The basic NX comes in just under £40, so the lower tax rate.
He's only on carwow, but you should watch him on carwow because he shows much more about the cars and I think that it's better. Carbuyer doesn't show as much.
Wouldn't touch KIA with a bargepole after the horrendous way my partner was treated after they fitted a front crankshaft seal on her Sportage under warranty only to cause damage when fitting then blaming her for lack of maintenance and giving her £4500 bill. She has now been without a car for nearly 6 months now as we had to get a solicitor involved. KIA 7 Year Warranty not worth the paper it's printed on.
Range starts at £26k approx. Tucson starts at £29k approx and tops out about the same. I prefer the Hyundai styling but agree that £40k plus for a range topper from both is too much
Yeah they are expensive but tell me what is not these days. I ordered the Hybrid GT line S FWD in pearl white with the black roof and it came out at just below 40k, with the current waiting lists prices won't depreciate as fast as they used to. To spec the Lexus NX to a similar level comes out at 43k which puts it into the high road tax bracket, its 45 bhp less power and smaller and has a dreadful CVT transmission.
@markyes I've seen a handful of EV6 on the road. The nicest thing I can say is at least it isn't bland like the Ford Mach E ( sorry but I'm not calling it a Mustang 😅 ). When I saw a Mach E in the metal for the first time I really did have to think had I seen a new car or just ANOTHER SUV. At least the EV6 looks ok from the front and side ( Oh that back end though 🤦♂️ )
Styling is so so. I'm reminded of Mitsubishi from the front. I prefer the Hyundai Tuscon. The Sportage actually starts from £26k. Guessing this is the range topper. Tucson starts at £29k. Both top out at £40k plus which I agree is far too expensive
Good review, but another SUV? God I hate feckin SUV's - another car craze that should disappear up its own a-hole. The only argument SUV owners have - I like sitting up higher, but when everyone else owns an SUV, you're at the same height again. Everything else with an SUV is a compromise!
@@stratos8093 Yeah, a DS actually looks good and comes with decent features. That Kia stands out, sure... for all the wrong reasons because it's been styled by three different teams who had to communicate over smoke signals during lockdown lol. Even a Seat Terraco is better looking
I’m ordering an HEV 4 version, UK spec. Don’t like plug ins, especially as not practical for me, living in mid terrace house, no drive and no guarantee of parking directly outside my house, and only work 4 hours daily.
